My one problem with this game, was that scenarios A and B did not fit together like they did in the original. In the original, A and B felt like they were two different parts of the same story. In the remake, it felt like the two scenarios existed in alternate realities from one another. I really wish they could have figured out how to fix that.

I couldn’t help but feel like that is because they focused SO much effort on Leon A. Like that feels like a full and distinct game with unique elements; then Claire A feels like they tagged on some elements to make it different. I really wasn’t a big fan of the B scenarios in the remake. Not anything different, just seeing all of the same things and experiencing the same from a different approach and angle.
I love the game, but it’s easy to see just where all of the money and time went.

The only thing about REmake 2 i dont like is how they messed up the scenario system and how Leon and Sherry basically had no relationship. When shes grown up she remembers him and Claire as the two that saved her but in the remake they only meet at the end and he doesnt really take care of her like the original so basically theres no reason for her to remember him

The way the scenarios operate is so bizarre. I feel like it makes far less sense than the original game, which is strange because the series is far more lore heavy and focused on having a canon now as opposed to when the original game released.
It’s like the truth is some weird amalgamation of elements of all four routes but considering how modern and cinematic the game’s presentation is, I would’ve thought that they were going to take this opportunity to provide a canon, definitive version of what happened to Leon and Claire in Racoon City.

the main thing that was great about OG RE2 was the scenario system and the "zapping" system. you would have claire and leon chasing sherry and running into each other or Annette dying in Leons scenario and then Claire and Sherry finding her later. Leon and Claire worked together more in the original. The remake omits all of this.

It's crazy how different one's experience can feel depending on what difficulty they chose to start with. For me, whenever I play a Resident Evil game, I start with the normal or standard difficulty. Once I've beaten it, then I go for the higher or highest difficulty options. Because of that, I didn't experience any of the hindrances that you mention in the video, which made me simply love the game the first time I tried it. Then I played hardcore with the knowledge of beating the game once, and it turned into a whole different and more strategic experience for me. I was more well prepared, and the changes in how enemies interact with you and how durable they are were a welcome surprise and made it an interesting new experience. Overall, I had a continuously fun experience that changed just enough here and there to never make it boring.

However, I just wish the G Spawn did not all look exactly the same (maybe just a few cosmetic variations), they needed to be burned before permanently dying, and they did not have an added poison ability (I prefer the game was keeping in Spiders, Moths, and Purple Ivy Variants for that).

One of my favourite things that happened to me in the remake is when I went into the locker room with the missing keys and a zombie followed me in. I had to run around him to see the numbers on the lockers and he was still there later when I had the missing keys to use. The best part is, I didn't realise how dynamic that particular interaction was until a new playthrough when I shot the same zombie to re-death and nothing followed me in there. I was free to explore the room at my own pace this time. Love it.

Resident Evil 2's remake is really, really good it's not perfect like RE1's remake.
To clarify; RE1 remake replaces the original, there's really not much reason to play the PS1 version ever again. The gameplay is the same and they've added so much to it visually and feature wise the remake simply replaces it.
RE2's remake is really, really great but it's different, very different, which I think leaves reason to play and enjoy the original one still.

I disagree. The RE1 Remake imo set the standard for how remakes of games should be handled, beyond just Resident Evil:
They took what was already there and only added to, barely trimming any fat. Adding to the story and not messing up or simplifying it.
In the Re2 Remake, I expected nearly all of the old rooms, puzzles, enemies to be there PLUS potentially new rooms, enemies, weapons, extra game modes....
If youre planning to remake a game, make it so it would be almost pointless to go back to the original other than nostalgia. Id rather play the original RE3 than the Remake, to be honest because of how much cut content there was between the two games.

You'd forget to talk about how the story was damaged, specially what they made with Ada character, and that the 1(A) and 2(B) way is the same after the police station, in the original game I'd been really surprised of how a little thing like Leon go out from the car from the right side or left side, how that change the story fully, and the forth times you play the Game as ClaireA/B LeonA/B it's like to play a different game everytime, and little details like the door that you can just open in the B way if you push the first button in A, or the locker where you can decide if you wish to give those things to the B way, and they forgot that Leon and Claire were escaping together, and in the remake they only talks at beginning and at the end, and those little details made re2 original the perfect game that we remember, and the best hit of Capcom

      @PeixeKing 3 года назад +1

There isn't really a story to actually damage there; if anything, the fact that characters actually have expressions and decent voice acting made me care a little more about writing that was always bad. Also, seems like a lot of people remember the A and B scenarios in the original differently than me, because there's little difference between them, in terms of gameplay; all this hype about Mr. X in Leon's campaign, but you only encounter him maybe 5 minutes before the final boss fight, that's also nothing to write home about, like basically every classic RE boss fight. The remake took the actual gameplay content of the original's A and B scenarios and put them in a single campaign, while redesigning enemies to be an actual threat, and making some sequences longer. In the original, you had to play two separate campaigns to see Birkin and Mr. X; in the remake, they're in the same campaign, and there's more of both. There are other examples, but that's my point, basically.

The original RE2 allowed you to deal with the crocodile in a similar fashion as any other boss:
      Shoot it until it dies.
In fact, the first handful of playthroughs, I didn't realize the existence of the canister at all.
Not only this, but the "Crash Bandicoot" running section in the nu-RE2 is just awfully out of place segment, that does not mesh with the rest of the game. Classic RE games didn't throw you into gameplay segments that played all the different from the core mechanisms.

G birkin 2 is stupidly easy, you never have to "waste" ammo on him at all, even on hardcore. Push his shit in with your pistol or shotty/launcher (in the eyes of course) then slap that big red button. The container will come fast enough to catch him before he acts, so you don't have to flash him to prolong the stun. Hell if you're feeling especially cheeky you can slap him with the container without shooting him at all, though this won't deal enough damage to end the fight quicker.
The sherry segment is short and super easy to figure out, you'd have to be brain damaged to not notice Iron's search pattern, and waste 30+ mins on the segment.

I Loved RE2:Remake, but there were a few things I had to yell foul on.
1: There were less interactions with Leon and Claire than the Original. Yeah, they still separate, but they always took the time to talk to each other. They don't even have a walkie-talkie to respond on.
2: Mr. X. Not the character, (though many can agree he's a real pain in the ass) but a scene relating to him. In Claire's Scenario, Claire and Sherry are chased by Mr. X though an underground passage from the orphanage. Birkin appears and slashes Mr. X almost in half and when you reach the lab as Leon, he comes after him no worse for wear. (It was so confusing that fans thought there were two Mr. X's, but Kazunori Kadoi (the director) confirms that there is ONE Mr. X, confusing them more)
    3. The Scenario's sometimes inter-lap with each other, other times not. This really hit a sore spot with me, especially playing the original game in preparation for it. The scenarios in the original had an interlocking story. The scenarios in the remake just seems like they just copy-and-pasted Scenario A with Scenario B with the exception of the beginning and the ending.
That's not even getting into the plot-holes the remake causes. (Annette's double death anyone?)

Case in point is original Tofu Survivor, where memorization of enemy placements is absolutely vital, since you only have one knife, and so must dodge them all.
In the RE2 Remake, you MUST kill some common enemies like zombies, since the game design makes it impossible to just dodge everything. Zombies have very long lunges, Lickers can instantly teleport behind you, and Mr X will make you pay for not clearing out areas.

I have to agree about big crocodile should've been a proper boss fight, maybe even like something that lurks around the sewers. So maybe a crocodile boss fight is for Leon, similar to the lake monster in RE4.
Meanwhile, add some good ol' Big Spiders for Claire, it's just such a classic "horror" animal imo. Make the spiders like Necromophs (dead space), showing up out of nowhere for 1 or 2 times in the sewers area.
As for another boss fight, it would be Plant 43. I was really expecting that the big flower plant on the window gonna resist to be dead & become a boss fight.
I think RE4 still overall has the best boss fights compilations, so many variations & different approaches/strategy.

I was hoping the alligator encounter would be handled in a similar way that the RE1 Remake handled the Neptune sharks.
In the original RE1, the encounter with the three sharks was so fast and easy, since you could just run straight to the control room and instantly drain the water to make the sharks harmless. Plus, all the sharks were only as damaging as normal enemies.
In the RE1 Remake, however, in the initial gauntlet to the control room had its own intense music, while the two smaller sharks attack like regular enemies and the big Mother Neptune can now periodically leap up from the depths to kill you in one bite. When you do get into the control room, the mother now tries to bash open the glass and nearly floods the whole room, prompting an additional puzzle with a time limit. Then, once the water is drained, you still have to get the key sitting dangerously close to the mother’s mouth, using one of three possible strategies.
If the alligator in RE2 Remake was converted into its own multi-stage puzzle or gauntlet in a similar way (like maybe taking inspiration from Killer Croc in “Batman: Arkham Asylum” and saving the final run with the explosive barrel for the very end), then I would have been more than satisfied.

Then, in the second run, you enter the same room, probably not expecting anything, and then it finally happens. It subverts your expectations just enough to make you not expect it when they finally hit you with it.

With an average muzzle energy of 370lbs of force.
Now, unless the lore of RE zombies has changed, there should be no reason they remain standing. That is unless we've all just been ASSUMING " aiming for the head" is the correct thing to do after decades of zombie lore have been telling us to do just that... maybe RE just wants us to stretch the disbelief a liiiitle bit further. *shrugs.

There was no boulder chan to be punched, 0/10. I can be generous and bring it up to 0.1/10 if there was an explosion every 1minute and gun shooting smart zombies everywhere.

Maybe 0.2 if every single cutscene was a QTE

If every monster was the size of a boss monster from 1 or 2 it would be .3/potato.

yo yo yo yo 16:27 the "blobby" enemy isn't new to the remake. It was in the original. It was the creature that grows out of the thing birthed from either Ben or Irons after william implants them with embryos. I like that there are more of them in the sewers in the remake because it suggest that william is.... well... laying a lot of seed. Which makes sense.

Old video, but this game is so special comparing to all RE games ever released. even 4 Remake didn't capture the feeling this game did.

Not even that is enough, you have to see where the Alligator is going to strike next.

I have no idea how you could forget Mr. X was in 2 dude! He gets weaned into the story and y Claire B he's popping up like every ten minutes, it's actually done quite well

I had resident evil 2 on ps1, beat leon and claire and never encountered mr x, my boy use to tell me about a dual shovk version and spoke of meating a monster called mr x and said he was like nemesis but I didn't believe him, going to look it up righr now.

Are you saying you don't even believe Mr X was in RE2? He absolutely was. He would show up in the B scenario. Sounds like you only played the A scenario.

@@abstractdaddy1384 Yeah, I didn't know what an a scenario or b scenario meant back then lol, now I know that's exactly what my problem was smh, but at least I still beat both leon and claire a scenarios after watching my friends do it, I was scared as hell so I know I didn't care what scenario meant after I beat it twice, I just was probably relishing in the fact that I finally became a real man child after beating such a terrifying game, I was 9 years old and couldn't really read that good back then, it all makes sense now, I probably would've turned it off and burned it with matches after encountering mr x though because my spoiled ass use to break my games and I was terrified enough, always pressing start to think about what I was doing wrong with my life when I played it back then and re3 nemesis gave me literal nightmares and I couldn't even watch my friends play it so mr x wouldn't have had much screen time on my display back then, still cool to know that though, game is awesome, just beat the remake 2 4 times in a row just yesterday, I gotta play a re3 remake, we have to make it happen.

But why aren't there any crimson heads, that would add another layer of strategy and decision making. It could be an unlock able mode even.

Plus, the RE2 Remake already made it so that most zombies can keeping getting back up indefinitely, without a clear limit other than decapitation or burning. So essentially, it already is like the RE1 Remake, only the zombies in that game could only get up once (albeit in an enraged berserker state), as oppose to getting back up multiple times.
So I think the RE2 Remake could have easily accommodated a Crimson Head mechanic to tie the two remakes even more closely together, if Capcom did not mind retconning the lore a tiny bit, so that Crimson Heads actually are the direct missing link between ordinary zombies and Lickers.

The very only thing that Capcom forget was to put a version of the original game (in HD)
