More a hernia when carrying an ebike 🙄 Great thing about your content is the history you give on each ride, like HP wood DH. Also pointing out where places are, really adds to your videos! Another top I want to say video, but is really a vlog with great riding 👍🏼
I have no idea what they are mate, I just ride my bike and talk; there’s no real thought gone into it! The DH track in HP had to be seen to be believed, not sure I would go as far as saying it was fun to ride (especially not on a hardtail, on an XC ride, but NOT wearing Lycra) 😀
Have car, will travel 😀 In the past, I’ve lived in places where the local riding was a bit dreary so got used to driving some distance to better places. I have great riding within 30 - 45 minutes of my front door now but who wants to ride the same stuff all the time? Plus, the Lakes will always be home to me 👍😀
I rode this for the first time on Monday, on a hired ebike. I’m glad those two events coincided. I am tho gonna have to attempt on the hard tail by leg power. I’ll pre book the dentists appt
It’s a rough old trail for sure, and type two fun on a hardtail. You kind of need to go as fast as you can to skip over the rocks but doing so chucks the bike about a lot, especially a hardtail, and the chance of a pinch flat goes through the roof. Thing is, I bet you will still have a huge grin on your face when you get to the bottom on the hardtail
Huge grin & crumbled knee joints. I have a full sus bike too, but there’s summat about doing tough trails on a hardtail. I’ve ridden similar surfaces - just not for the whole up n down 😶
Bloody great loop isn't it, just a shame that Three Rivers was sanitised to death as that had some fantastic bits on it. Top (cheeky) top: go up the opposite side of the Troutbeck valley and do the descent off Wansfell Pike towards Jenkin Crag. It's outstanding 👍
Had a lovely summer feel that ride 😜 That first rocky descent looked a surfing kind of ride, like potato alley. Some quality "Jasonisms" in there too 🤣.
Typical Lakes weather, amazing scenery all around and invariably you can’t see it, especially when the cloud level is at around 400 metres like on this day. Garburn is a rocky old trail, mainly loose rock too (more so than a lot of them further up); you really do surf down it, hoping the bike will head in the direction you want it to go 👍😀
That’s a Lake District sheep, hard as nails. Whereas your Welsh ones run away (usually down the trail in front of you) the Lakes ones just stare at you, as if to say ‘what’s your problem, pal?’ If it could speak, it would have told me to fuck off before it put the nut on me 😀
Great Video, I really like the Garburn Pass, Green Quarter & Stile End ( its about half an hour from me). its a good pretty much all weather route & theres plenty of easy bail out areas if the weather gets really grim. Fix the Fells do a really good job at actually making them worse, or as us MTB'rs up here very wittily call them....'F**k the Fells' ( Yeah we laughed as well....). They put down all these cobbles, big slabs, steps & hardpack etc as they think that by making the path 'hiker friendly' (and 'safer' so they say....Its a mountainous area ffs) it'll keep them on the path & avoid further erosion. what they dont grasp is that other large numbers of 'bridleway' users will just skirt round them actually making the erosion worse. As bridleways are legally accessible to almost all users, what they are doing is only beneficial to hikers. Recently they've sneaked in & sanitised (buggered up) a fair few trails up here while no one has been watching over lockdown. The Fox descent near Grizedale, a lot of the Tilberthwaite, Hodge Close & Iron Keld areas and The Knott/ Rest Dodd descent to Angle Tarn (Ullswater) to name a few. The Lakes is slowly becoming a bit like a giant Center Parcs holiday home where everything is sanitised for safety reasons to the point where ive started riding a lot more around the Howgills & Yorkshire Dales as theyre also quite near to me & have a much wilder feel to them. I Apologise for whats turned out to be a medium sized novel but my post has turned a bit rantish (It wont happen again :D ) On a side note, I dont know why you dont have more subscribers as your channel is far better than a lot of the horsesh*te doing the rounds on here.
Thanks Steve, really appreciate the comments and glad to hear it's not just me who is sick to death of the sanitisation of the trails. I'll be honest, one of the reasons I take to the footpaths is because they seem to be concentrating on 'improving' the bridleways at the moment and haven't got round to the paths yet. What's also notable is that when you chat to fell walkers, they are not fans of the resurfaced trails either so who are they doing it for? If I recall correctly, the one on Green Quarter had the involvement of Wheelbase which is why it's still nice to ride (it was a bog beforehand, just nasty). What they have done to the bottom of Three Rivers though, is criminal. Whereabouts are you from if you don't mind me asking? I'm originally (most of my life in fact) from Storth, near Arnside; Mum still lives there and I still call it home 👍
Sorry to add yet another comment but yeah, it would be nice to have more subs but given that I started the channel just before lockdown, did a load of rides just around Chester through necessity and now seem to flip between Shropshire and the Lakes, I guess people are confused with what the hell is going on! It's not doing bad, all things considered 😃
@@Stopadoodledoo Arnside isnt really that far away from probably my favorite area for riding which is around Wensleydale, Swaledale, Littondale & Coverdale (Pretty much anywhere really thats got the word Dale on the end). Because I live in the Lakes people suddenly assume I prefer Lakes riding over anything else. Obviously, I love Lakes riding for the techy descents, brutal hike a bikes etc (Yeah I do actually enjoy shouldering the bike & carrying it up a mountain for some stupid reason) but I prefer been out in the Dales, nowhere near as much tech as the Lakes but its there if you explore. I love the endlessly long flowy descents & the fact that in winter, set you can set off before the sun rises, back way after it sets having spent 10+ hours out & not seen a soul. My idea of perfection.
@@Stopadoodledoo Hi mate, no need to apologise for for adding another comment, After my version of War & Peace above its nothing :) I'm originally from Nidderdale in North Yorkshire (little village called Killinghall on the outskirts of Harrogate. I met a lass from up here (Penrith area) & after been together a couple of year found a job & moved up here (been here 8 yrs now but amicably split with the girlfriend last year. I rather like it up here so decided to stay, Penrith is close to the Lakes & North Yorks National Parks, Howgills are nearby & Scotland not to far so it suits me well. Ive only been into MTB for about 2 & a half years. Before I started with this I was into my rock climbing & was doing a fair bit of Alpine mountaineering French/ Swiss Alps but a near death accident put an end to that as it totally screwed up my confidence. I decided I needed another way of hurting myself, a few mates were/ still are into MTB & thats that really. Rode an Orange 120 hardtail up until June of this year but suffering from severe lockdown boredom & having no real clue about bike maintenance I sensibly decided to see if I could build my own full suspension. I bought a Bird Aeris 145 AM frame, Rockshox Debonair 160mm Pikes & then bought whatever new parts I could afford at the end of the month until I had everything I needed & then spent a whole evening, night into morning building it & after lots of RUclips videos & lots of swearing later (If I ever see another Star Fangled Nut again i'm going to burn the tw*t alive & i'll do the same to any clever t*t who asks 'why didn't you use a Star Fangled nut setting tool?', Oh, because I wanted to spend an hour of hell beating my thumb to death with a hammer) Anyway i've been riding it for about 2 months now & compared to the hardtail which i love but now selling the Bird is on a different level & i'd marry it if I could :D Ive managed to write another book.Apologies for that mate :)
@@Stopadoodledoo I'm posting multiple comments now, but forgot to ask. do you live in the same area now or are you down South? i've watched a few of your recordings & they're from Lakes areas & are pretty recent. There seems to be a billion & one MTB RUclips channels & it seems only around one in every hundred million are any good. The rest are either using Americanisms as slang (Gnar etc) or doing 1980's Judas Priest 'Devil horns' hand signals, all these things irritate the crap out of me, all I want to do is have a laugh & ride my bike with my mates as we all laugh at each other & at our fantastic lack of skill (with no one spitting the dummy out) Plus I love solo rides as well & dont always feel the need to ride with others. I can happily ride from sun up to sunset on my own & have a great day at my own pace, enjoying the scenery & the peace & taking loads of photos.. So your channel makes a nice change from the usual generic sh*te, just a group of mates having a laugh with no pretension....or just a bloke on his bike on his own having a great day out........Perfect. Ive pointed your channel out to some mates so they should be subscribing at some point.
It’s not their fault, donuts are a tasty treat 😀. Definitely give Garburn a go, it’s a cracking trail and after the ride, there’s Wilf’s cafe, Wheelbase bike shop and the Hawkshead brewery surrounding the car park 👍
No walkers! Yay! Not sure what I would prefer amazing mountain trails but rain all the time or wall to wall sunhine n dust but 30 second descents on some hills and the odd bike park 🤔🤣
Awesome riding there jason, i must say, i do like the look of this one, loving the satan ised paths 😂 i need a better mudguard i think, yours did the job i reckon, cracking video, what do you say mr sheep? Baaaaa 😂👍
I reckon you would love this one mate, it’s quite similar to the Peaks in style as the pass is pretty wide and littered with rocks galore, but with lovely singletrack on the other side of the valley. If you have the energy, it can be combined with the Nan Bield Pass too, which is epic. I was too knackered on this day to do Nan Bield 😢
Cheers. They don’t keep all of the crap off and they do look sponky but they definitely help. As you know, there’s no such thing as a dry ride in the Lakes but my face was pretty crap free, all things considered 👍

great video again, top commentary very funny ha
Cheers mate. It's probably just as well that I talked a fair bit in this one as the conditions would make it an awful video if it was footage only 😃👍
Mate loved it, top unfiltered filthy bastard banter. Did this today, same weather. Great loop.
