By now you know that "An Imperial Affliction" isn't a real book, so I'd like to convey my condolences on that. I agree: the cigarette metaphor is dumb, but these are teenagers. So . . . I loved watching you react to this movie. This movie always tears me up emotionally and brings me to tears. When I read the book it ripped me apart and had me weeping like a baby. Strange, I know, but I love books and movies like this. Most people don't understand my position on this . . . but really sad and depressing stories such as this are so moving and uplifting because of how they make us feel grateful for the lives that we have. Every year, ever month, every week, every day, every hour, every minute, every second is a gift. I don't want to waste one bit of it.

Ok, you’ve got to add Mask, Ordinary People, Terms of Endearment and Kramer vs. Kramer to your list. All great movies but tear jerkers.
Next time James wants a drama or make me cry genre movie for a poll Mask is what I will send in. Up to the voters to decide also depends on what other movies go up against it.

You should definitely check out more of John Green (the author of the book) and Hank Green, his brother. They're OG RUclipsrs and what they do on their channels is really cool and making good in the world. John is now working on getting more attention on curing/treating tuberculosis around the world, and has another movie coming out next week. Hank is just recovering from Cancer and has a whole bunch of projects and books too. "An Absolutely Remarkable Thing" is really a great book.
The author is absolutely amazing, john green, i read "looking for Alaska" when i was 17 and finished it in less than a day, i re read it every couple years and take notes in the margins, Everytime. It helps me gauge how much better or worse my mental health is, its also full of nicotine stains, ash residue, and tear marks.
If you want another emotional one then you should watch My Sisters Keeper. ❤😢

Unfortunately the FAA doesn't allow oxygen tanks on commercial flights. Fire hazard. Even the oxygen used in the emergency masks is chemically created. Just a general fyi. Love the channel 😊

Compressed oxygen used in the aircraft cabin must be provided by the airline in accordance with 14 CFR 121.574 or 14 CFR 135.91.
Contact your airline for instructions on arranging oxygen service.
Airlines are not required to provide oxygen service and many do not.
Passengers may carry portable oxygen concentrators (POCs). See separate entry in the PackSafe chart.
Though allowed in checked and carry-on baggage by international (ICAO/IATA) regulations, oxygen cylinders are not allowed in baggage in the U.S. Personal compressed oxygen is prohibited and must be supplied by the air carrier.
Note: The following information is offered for informational purposes; check your airline's policy.
Airlines are allowed to carry a passenger's oxygen cylinder in the aircraft cabin in accordance with 49 CFR 175.501(e) but the passenger cannot use it. However, because a special overpack, written pilot notification, and additional hazmat training and manual documentation are required, most (if not all) U.S. airlines do not offer this service. Check with your airline before planning on carrying your own oxygen cylinder to your destination.
§ 121.574 Oxygen and portable oxygen concentrators for medical use by passengers.
(a) A certificate holder may allow a passenger to carry and operate equipment for the storage, generation, or dispensing of oxygen when all of the conditions in paragraphs (a) through (d) of this section are satisfied. Beginning August 22, 2016, a certificate holder may allow a passenger to carry and operate a portable oxygen concentrator when the conditions in paragraphs (b) and (e) of this section are satisfied.
(1) The equipment is-
(i) Furnished by the certificate holder;
(ii) Of an approved type or is in conformity with the manufacturing, packaging, marking, labeling, and maintenance requirements of 49 CFR parts 171, 172, and 173, except § 173.24(a)(1);
(iii) Maintained by the certificate holder in accordance with an approved maintenance program;
(iv) Free of flammable contaminants on all exterior surfaces;
(v) Capable of providing a minimum mass flow of oxygen to the user of four liters per minute;
(vi) Constructed so that all valves, fittings, and gauges are protected from damage; and
(vii) Appropriately secured.
(2) When the oxygen is stored in the form of a liquid, the equipment has been under the certificate holder's approved maintenance program since its purchase new or since the storage container was last purged.
(3) When the oxygen is stored in the form of a compressed gas as defined in 49 CFR 173.115(b)-
(i) The equipment has been under the certificate holder's approved maintenance program since its purchase new or since the last hydrostatic test of the storage cylinder; and
(ii) The pressure in any oxygen cylinder does not exceed the rated cylinder pressure.
(4) Each person using the equipment has a medical need to use it evidenced by a written statement to be kept in that person's possession, signed by a licensed physician which specifies the maximum quantity of oxygen needed each hour and the maximum flow rate needed for the pressure altitude corresponding to the pressure in the cabin of the airplane under normal operating conditions. This paragraph does not apply to the carriage of oxygen in an airplane in which the only passengers carried are persons who may have a medical need for oxygen during flight, no more than one relative or other interested person for each of those persons, and medical attendants.
(5) When a physician's statement is required by paragraph (a)(4) of this section, the total quantity of oxygen carried is equal to the maximum quantity of oxygen needed each hour, as specified in the physician's statement, multiplied by the number of hours used to compute the amount of airplane fuel required by this part.
(6) The pilot in command is advised when the equipment is on board, and when it is intended to be used.
(7) The equipment is stowed, and each person using the equipment is seated, so as not to restrict access to or use of any required emergency, or regular exit or of the aisle in the passenger compartment.
Good Movie, iv never heard of it before.
I find myself watching movies like this… my very first movie as a kid,( in the 70s), of a very young woman, who had a tape recorder, oh you got to watch it… it’s called SUNSHINE, ( the John Denver song). Talk about bittersweet.

I remember my mom and my friends watched The Fault In Our Stars for my birthday , all of my friends and my mom were crying when they were watching the movie. I was the only one who wasn’t crying

Great reaction. This is such an emotional movie but I love how positive Augustus was until he wasn't. He transformed Hazel's life and prob that douchy author even if just a tiny bit. I had forgotten about another movie but this reminded of it, Griffin & Phoenix, I hope you watch it

They are at the 100 acre outdoor
art park in Indianapolis when he tells her about the trip to Amsterdam. John Green (the author of the novel is from Indiana). The park is really cool.
Actually, they aren't at the REAL outdoor art park in Indianapolis. It is a replica - sadly (maybe in Indianapolis somewhere). I'm from Indianapolis and am a fan of this movie. I was going back to visit my parents, years ago and wanted to see if this was really shot on the Indianapolis Art Museum grounds - I looked it up and they made a replica of it (there was some production reason why they had to do that). Other *parts of the movie were shot in Indianapolis though. The park is really cool. ❤
This is perhaps the most recognizable role for Shailene Woodley, who played Hazel. Another role of hers i like is The Descendants from 2011.

This is such a cliche teen movie, its still so amazing tho 😂
Hazel (Shailene Woodley) was at one time engaged to Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers.
awwww.... yeah this movie/book is hard to watch/read. The book didn't mention it either but Hazel probably dies too. We know that from the start so the book is about their little infinity. 🙌

I cry every time I watch it. I hate baby cancer. But I think this movie shows actually some really important and strong attitudes when you're looking at death. From people who have been looking towards it for most of the life that they remember
