Goger cemented himself as my favorite editor during this arc. I may be biased by the fact that I'm also a strategy game nerd and very much appreciated all the Total War/M&B/Paradox references.

Saint Mungos is a Hospital in Harry Potter. I always thought it was some crazy harry potter dumbledore ass name, but I should have known it was just Welsh :)
Saint Mungo founded Glasgow, why did a walshman found a scottish city you ask? because that part of scotland used to be part of the welsh kingdom of Straithclyde (which translates as broad wales) it was only conquered and colonised by scots in the 11th century.
I feel Last Samurai should have been way higher on the list, but that is just me. This was a very fun arc gang, I look forward to the next one, whatever and whenever that may be.

The biggest plothole is how he got from Germany to spain,wounded on 1 horse in winter. he had to get through switzerland,france and northern spain to get to his home ,once again, wounded.
Yeah that recently dawned on me when I rewatched it after seeing the disastrous sequel. It honestly doesn’t make a lot of sense geographically but the scene had enough emotional and narrative weight that it wasn’t even something that crossed my mind in the multiple times I’ve watched the movie
I've recently rewatched Gladiator and it's such a great story. The Sequel however felt like TFA of Gladiator movies - copy paste story, while every impactful element is either retconed to be worse or straight up worsen.
@casbyness I can't judge a movie without watching it first, so it's only fair that I paid (not that much since I live in Poland so the ticket was like 6 dollars). And besides, there are worse movies I paid to see in cinema.

If you guys do a sequel war arc (and I hope you do), you should definitely do movies from American Revolution onwards. Patriot, Saving Private Ryan, A Bridge Too Far, stuff like that. I would definitely love to see you guys watch Gettysburg (as well as its prequel-sequel, Gods and Generals). Favorite war movie when I was a kid.

I just had to look up Saint Mungo, and apparently, Mungo was a nickname that meant "my dear" while his real name was Kentigern. He's also a scottish and welsh saint. He is the founder and patron saint of Glasgow but spent a lot of time in Wales.

I remember seeing the commercials thinking this just looks like another schlocky action flick and Russell Crowe must be hard up for money lol.

Watched the Extended Cut for the first time a few months ago and I liked it a lot. Still one of my all time favorite movies, I still get engaged all the way through. Oddly enough, I just watched this the other night on Hulu, and goddamn does it hold up spectacularly. Should have been painting Seraphon proxies, instead I was riveted to the screen 😂

damn, no the 13th warrior in this arc but i've been wanting to rewatch Gladiator... because of the Gladiator 2. Man, i forgot so much about what happened, like the attack on the gladiator place and the ambush where they combo'd the guy with hanging and arrows.

There is one part of the intro battle sequence I never liked. No movie ever really identifies the effectiveness of the Testudo formation. They always depict it as purely defensive for the purposes of blocking arrows. However, Roman formations were particularly deadly because they never broke formation to engage in free-for-all melees. The Testudo would remain intact and they'd have dozens if not hundreds of individual testudos marching into enemy lines. Using the shield wall with spears and the gladius was such an effective infantry combat doctrine it tore up massive armies because the enemy was trying to break up dozens of mini tanks. I get it, free-for-all melees are fun to watch, but seeing historical strategy employed and showing why they were so great (it's the reason why Rome was able to even conquer Greece, who was known to do massive versions of the Testudo/shield wall).
