That was a nice video! I gather you are testing for your big adventure's videos next year. How did you adjust your rear brakes so that they would not pull to one side?
Hey Demetris! I adjust them by feel really. As far as I know minis need a bit of a tigter drum setting than other "humble" automobiles out there. so i turn the wheel while adjusting the height of the brakes to make sure that the shoes line up gradually. Once I get the exact same resistance "feeling" on both wheels, i check the brake pedal for feel once with the handbrake off, and then by counting the ratchet clicks with the handbrake on. Road testing the car of course to ensure it doesn't pull to one side and I'm all set. I never had an issue braking due to rear brakes. I did have uneven braking when i initialy bought the car but that was due to an incorrectly installed master cylinder. The braniac who did the job apparently replaced a "black" master cylinder with a yellow band cylinder without knowing that the high pressure line shoud go on top and not on btm as it was before. Once i got that sorted Bob brakes as staight as an edge! ;-)
Very cool castle! Be sure to check you've got the springs in the right orientation on those rear brakes. It is easy to fit the wrong way around and then they get worn through against the hub and fail. You also need to play with the rear shoe adjusters and front cable adjuster to get them working best.
