This happened in 1962. Cliff Richard is aged 21 or 22 years old. 6 previous decades ago in 2022. Gosh 😅 time honestly has flown quickly since 1962. Life is short. 😄
CR and the Shadows were the biggest band in Britain until the Beatles came along. I remember them being all over radio and tv when I was a kid in England.
Great representation of a pre Beatles band. Reminds me of high school dances in the 9th grade. Very sincere performance. Love the way Hank and the rhythm player stroll in for the chorus. Good harmony and guitar solo too.
No this was post Jet Harris & Tony Meehan, it’s there replacement’s Brian Locking on bass (first time seen him with a Fender Jazz bass rather than the usual Precision bass) and Brian Bennett on drums who stayed on with them until more recent years
Since start hear on radio or my cassette tape of Beach Boys. I never know Sir Cliff Richard did back 1960s truly love classic hits songs. My mom start listen on radio car drive to Iowa. We're I pick up hear rock n roll songs. Different from my dads music but. Was lots Rock n roll in Iowa back old days. Truly love song and video. Classic hits song rate A plus.
This musical group is amazing. Since 1958 most of the members are still performing. They are superb musicians and millions of fans still want to be at their venues. Me also too🙏👍💞
Greetings, thank u SirCliff and the shadows for the invitation to dance to ur joyful music/lyrics -that wakes up the living dead-to be realistic how could u turn such an offer down especially when u love to dance! Ohhhhhh forget the gym today -let’s dance 💃🏽 beautiful Christian Christmas blessings to all!
This is how I remember Cliff & the Shads from when I saw them live "back in the day", when they were the best in the world! They will always have a place on my jukebox, along with the Beatles, Byrds, Beach boys, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, etc., etc.,
1962 la musique British entre la tradition et le début d'une certaine émancipation . qui a influencé la France ..avec la période Yé Yé ....donc Respect pour . le début de cette pop musique ....jluc
To all the detractors: This was 1962; live and pre synth and all the other electronic B.S. that was yet to come. If you can't see talent when its staring you in the face then, that's a shame. Oh and they've been headlining for HOW LONG? :-)
If someone doesn't like this it doesn't mean they "can't see talent when it's staring them right in the face" it just means they don't like it. All music is subjective.
It's fun lazing on an afternoon, choosing an old song to hunt up on youtube and stopping along the way to find every version you can of that song... tracing it up and down the timeline for all its renditons.
Hearing this as a 11 year old kid in '62,it held a promise that life wouldn't have to be drab. All Cliff's tunes (till'64) had such an optimistic vibe. This was truly a credible alternative to all the cool American rockers. What George Martin did for The Beatles,Norrie Paramor did for Cliff and The Shadows,a brilliant 'widescreen' production on most of his hits. Unbelievable Paramor died in virtual obscurity in 1979.
Mijn lieve Walther van mij! Dankjewel voor dit supermooie liedje! Ik wil heel graag met jou dansen! Jij bent mijn alles! Ik houd zo ontzettend ontzettend veel van jou!
me too, same age, plus Paul Anka, of course both for their good music but also for their looks **dream** ohhh it was sooo nice to be young in the sixties!
i was fortunate to have meet the shadows in person after a private concert in twin towns when i was in early teens with my father david green which also was in a band back in the same era playing the fender strat guitar knew the shadows and did so gigs with them the shadows are the goods !!!
One of my favourite shadows songs, I’m sure I’ve seen them on tv back then at one time or another doing that number, nice job of back up vocals by Bruce and Hank ( my favourite shadow) nice to see a video with liquorice on bass , usually it’s either John rostill or jet
@@brigader4heart272 dont kno date , had to be around 1962, I used to have the out of the shadows album which was released then and licorice is with them on the cover
Not only is interesting to see Brian Locking on bass (RIP) but also to see him playing a Fender Jazz bass rather than the usual Fender Precision bass (I had seen John Rostill playing a white Fender Jazz around 1967/68 as he wasn’t keen on the Burns Marvin. Oh Jet left the Shadows very late 1962 so Brian would’ve only recently joined the Shadows
Definitely prefer this version rather than the original by Bobby Freeman a few years earlier in '58. Cliff and the Shads version was a hit even as a B-side! 🎸🎶 Those Were The Days
How come the French media seem to have forgotten about this outstanding group and singer...? We certainly have NOT! :-))))))) up with Cliff and the Shads!
All positives votes to this fabulous singer Cliff Richard!!!Yours beauties as such as - Tell me,Bachelor boy,Tell me,Evergreen tree,Angel among others always will stay in ours memories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for these early TV appearances of Cliff and The Shadows. Not only was the recorded version great, but this live performance is also stellar. I did not discover Cliff and the Shadows until I was stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany in 1963 with the USAF. I heard them on Radio Lux and I was an instant fan.
Classic Cliff in the years before he went soft and became a grannies and housewives favourite!....PS- the Shadows were so good they were big in their own right..:)
Great song. I love how the Beach Boys updated this song and made it even better. Dennis Wilson sang lead and it became iconic and a true Rock N' Roll sensation. But, these guys are great early Rockers Cliff Richards and the Shadows.
This happened in 1962. Cliff Richard is aged 21 or 22 years old. 6 previous decades ago in 2022. Gosh 😅 time honestly has flown quickly since 1962. Life is short. 😄
THANK GOD WE HAVE YOU TUBE !!!
How is he not in the Rock and Roll hall of fame? Travesty!
Apparently, the answer is not savoury.
Cliff Richard is more or less unknown in the US,So probably why.
Easy the people that run it are assholes. There are a few early rock n rollers who belong in there along with sir cliff.
This is the best version of this song.
Almost makes me cry its so perfect.
Pure, fabulous raw talent from all of them and that voice from sir Cliff...!! . 👏👏👏👏♥️🥂
CR and the Shadows were the biggest band in Britain until the Beatles came along. I remember them being all over radio and tv when I was a kid in England.
A great remake! Bravo to Cliff Richard! Bravo to the Shadows!
Great live song , actually being performed without any editing or tricks from the studio .
Great representation of a pre Beatles band. Reminds me of high school dances in the 9th grade. Very sincere performance. Love the way Hank and the rhythm player stroll in for the chorus. Good harmony and guitar solo too.
Rhythm was Bruce Welch, bass Jet Harris and drums Tony Meehan
No this was post Jet Harris & Tony Meehan, it’s there replacement’s Brian Locking on bass (first time seen him with a Fender Jazz bass rather than the usual Precision bass) and Brian Bennett on drums who stayed on with them until more recent years
Stupenda la canzone
E le parole non ero ancora nata vista la data
Ma viene dramandata di generazione in generazione
💖🎵🎶🎵💖💖🎵🎶💖🌟
Liquorice, Brian Bruce Hank and Cliff what a super Cliff and Shads lineup
We owe everything to this lot! the great Brian Bennett at the back playing drums!
Merci pour ce partage en live et cette vidéo
Excellent
Merci à Sir Cliff Richard et ses Shadows
Good, fun tune! The Ramones did a cool cover of this back in the day
That version is also a cover ....
The ramones version is my favorite that I've heard
Great live performance!

Check out the original by Bobby Freeman
Still liking this a lot! we met Licorice Locking the bass player in a pub in Nunhead once, a very humble guy and excellent musician
That is a great, great rock and roll name, Licorice Locking!
This one is for my good friend Pauline. We fell in love with Cliff in 1962. Its still one of the best tunes ever to jive to.
Greetings, thank u SirCliff and the shadows for the invitation to dance to ur joyful music/lyrics -that wakes up the living dead-to be realistic how could u turn such an offer down especially when u love to dance! Cliff and the Shadows are legend.
I'm definitely used to the Mamas & Papas version BUT this one is great too👌🏾
Para mim a versão melhor é com o Johnny River....
Fell in love with him in 1962 when l was 7 still love him still
Love it! Love the Beach Boys version as well, they added the "wall of sound" by the Wrecking Crew🎶
Happy to see and hear it in 2022!
Grandes CLIFF RICHARD Y THE SHADOWS. Únicos e irrepetibles.... Gracias! 👍🌹🍀💞🎼🇪🇸
Me 18 of age then in ‘62😆those were the days 😅
Cliff and The Shadows at their very best! I love rhis!
This is the first time I've appreciated just how good they were ...... LIVE!
Que elegância , que voz maravilhosa , que música romântica ! Valeuuuuuuuu
That was an incredible piece of music and vocal

what a handsome guy
Only time I have ever seen or heard Hank Marvin sing!
I love the style of suits the singers wore back them. The good thing about Cliffs songs is that they are happy and good to sing along to.
you mean "Love and Fury" by the Tornados?
Sir Cliff and crew have the moves!!
With today's 'artistes', there's no thrill. This is when rock 'n roll was great.
Thank you for this early piece, all performers seem to be in the mood, very much alive.
Great music !
old is gold
Always always love this song 😍 reminding me for getting up n twist instead of getting stuck in Googling the internet ha ha
Love you cliff
My breath has been taken away.
So cool it's my favorite song

Caleb Lewis I see - and agree with - your point. Problem I have, is that so many people 'rubbish' the stuff that led to today's musical styles.
There is plenty of great music around today man, you just gotta look for it.
66 idiots don't like this.

Strange, l was just thinking the same thing, same age too. l've still got the 45.
George Martin got all the accolades and Norrie Paramor got zip. It wasn't fair IMO.
Can you IMAGINE how much pussy these guys were getting!?😳
Only heard the Ramones version.
Didn't know it was a cover. Like it!
Grande Cliff !
OMG! I was 14 years old! Time flies! Love this song! Thanks for uploading!
HALL OF FAME...❤
Mijn lieve Walther van mij! Dankjewel voor dit supermooie liedje! Ik wil heel graag met jou dansen! Jij bent mijn alles! Ik houd zo ontzettend ontzettend veel van jou!
Brian Bennetts drumming on the recording is amazing

Simplesmente o máximo! Isso é que é música de verdade! Sem palavras... Gostaria de me transportar para essa época!
Hank Marvin got countless English hopefuls off the ground .... An Icon...
Whow, last comment is 10 years ago! Noone lieks this fantastic music anymore. So sad!
A more than passable version by Cliff & the Shadows. This was originally recorded by Bobby Freeman in 1958 and reached the top 5 here in the U.S.
Everlating music😘
Cliff e Shadows, parceria antiga, que deu certo.Sucesso!!!!
Great drum kit.
He was *so* gorgeous as a young man, and quite a mover.
With a velvet voice.
Sweetheart, at his age Sir is still well preserved and a fabulous mover. His voice is superb 💗👍
to see sir cliff,I remember my uncle was born same city and they were neigbours..!
Cliff Richard was born in Calcutta and had his Schooling in Saint Johns.Later he migrated to U.K after INDEPENDENCE and the rest is History.
Early Stratocaster music lol. Can't be beat!
I remember Cliff when I was a kid! Loved this!
We saw Cliff and the Shadows in the early 60s.My claim to fame the drummer kept winking at me.
This video was on my instagram feed and I fell in love with his voice 😍 😭 ❤
ah! memories of those sunny days in Johannesburg when everyone was in love with Cliff Richards.
Cliff is s real British legend 😀
How handsome Cliff was ......ll
I have to admit the first time I heard this song, it was a slow version by The Mamas and The Papas.

Good Times with Cliff Richard.
Looks like this is where Marky Ramone got the backbeat for the Ramones version. Great rendition !

Great song. I love how the Beach Boys updated this song and made it even better. Dennis Wilson sang lead and it became iconic and a true Rock N' Roll sensation. But, these guys are great early Rockers Cliff Richards and the Shadows.
This was also done by The Beach Boys on Shindig where Dennis Wilson sang Lead not to mention Bobby Freeman who also had the hit record The Swim.
Love these years 😍
