    You have 1/10th of the amount of clothes I have now (I have been thrifting quality for 40 years!), but when I was pregnant, I remember "managing" with about 10 pieces total. Now I can believe it. It just goes to tell you that priorities are everything! Best wishes for a happy pregnancy.

    Be careful with the knitted sweaters, sometimes when they are in hangers the weight of the knit makes them stretch and the sides of the hangers poke out!

      @BliffleSplick Год назад +2

      It's often best to fold them in half and then drape the resulting wonky V over a hanger a bit like a scarf - the hook goes where the armpit is and the rest is draped over the "shoulders" of the hanger (assuming you can't just lay them on a shelf)

      So true. I ruined so many sweaters in my teen years hanging them like that. Nowadays, I either drape them over the flat bottom of the hanger or fold them. Bending down is surely going to get harder for her over the next few weeks, so finding a good hanging/draping solution sounds like the way to go!

    Everyone is different and carries their pregnancy differently, but don't be surprised if you end up 'growing out of' even maternity wear by the end. I didn't gain more than the recommended amount, but by the end, several maternity items were just too small in the belly. I remember one outfit that was appropriate for work actually had a velcro closure on the belly, and it popped open all day at work. I had to give it up!

      If I'm not wrong, taller people generally have more room in the abdomen area to grow and so their bumbs tend to be less protruded as compared to people who are much shorter or at least with a shorter torso

      Wow. I only had 6-8 items for each of my 3 pregnancies that I could wear after 6mths and it was fine. At the end I only had one A-line dress a/o pair of overalls that would fit over my bump. For my first pregnancy I did have a pair of bright pink maternity cords but they didn't fit any more in my later pregnancies. A man's check shirt from my dad and a couple of oversize sweatshirts, and a wool cape. I had all my girls in the winter months, so I had to be able to stay warm! I guess I did laundry pretty frequently. And it would have been different if I'd been working outside the home, I guess. Though I do like really limited capsule wardrobes for simplicity, admittedly.

      my problem was not the elastic from maternity clothes, but my hips widen so much that i had pregnancy jeans that did not fit by the end of pregnancy because my heaps became way wider in the third trimester.

      Yep, I accumulated a bunch of pregnancy clothing because I got SO big at the end of both of mine that even smaller maternity stuff didn't fit. There were still a few pre-pregnancy things that were good until the end, and there were a few that got stretched out by "making them work". Although even with my first I stopped fitting my regular pants at like, 13 weeks. Luckily I was able to thrift 95% of the stuff I got (a few things, like a swimsuit, I just couldn't find!) and I passed all of them on to a friend afterwards. Then of course the nursing outfits, had to be a little roomier than usual but need access! So glad to be past that permanently and back in my everyday wardrobe.

    for the dress/pinafore at the start, the one that doesn't close ??? you can make a small fabric plaquette, like a rectangle and add eyelets and buttons to form a bridge so it will close, I don't know if I'm making any sense with this lol

    Great to see you do this and find so many cozy fitting clothes!
    I did simillar thing after giving birth to my first one selecting only the tops that allowed for comfortable breastfeeding and comfy home wear (as the lockdowns hit when he was not even three months old) and it was such a relief to have just this one dedicated shelf and drawer that I was sure would be always okay to dress myself from...
    Wish you a peaceful third trimester with as much comfort as possible

    I love your closet videos! It really inspires me how you're always sifting through and rotating things. I'm so bad at seasonally rotating my wardrobe or just rotating it based on what I'm wearing currently.

    I highly recommend putting the cropped sweater back in your wardrobe. They're great to layer over dresses and show off the bump in a cute way, especially at the end when you feel completely massive and nothing fits.

    • @anaconstantinescu122
      @anaconstantinescu122 Год назад

      Yup i agree with this. Third trimester for me was crop-tops with dresses all the way. The normal sweaters were so weird at half of my belly, that i preferred crop-tops since they were sort by design

    The only things branded "maternity" that I bother buying are jeans and sometimes tshirts so that they're long enough to cover my stomach. And I still only have about 3 shirts that are long enough to cover the baby belly by ~37 weeks! Circle skirts with some kind of adjustable waist band are my favorites in pregnancy. (Tights I just buy a size up from my normal.)

    For your jeans and trousers, get or make a belly band! You just need some fabric (blue for denim and black for dark trousers, for instance), some 1" elastic, a button that fits into the hole, and sew a button hole or two. The fabric fills in the gap between the fly and tucks into that area. I wore my regular jeans throughout my second pregnancy. As long as they fit comfortably open, wear them!

    Thanks for sharing Lucy. You look so gorgeous pregnant. It really suits you. Beautiful before and after. Your inner light always shines no matter what you wear or what size. Wishing you a fruitful and serene trimester although there will always be some challenges you make everything look whimsical and magical.

    Practical to have everything visible and you don't have to rummage through drawers to look for something that fits. Probably also very nice to not have to bend down to reach your clothes. Have never been pregnant but can't imagine that it's comfortable to bend down with a big belly.

    I get that it is very convenient to have all your sweaters hanging with the rest of your wardrobe, but you’ll be stretching them out a bunch having them hang instead of being folded, reducing their lifespan significantly. Would recommend to free up the top drawer for them instead.

    I wonder if the son de flor dresses would fit if you left the top open and put a sweater over them. Then you can wear them as "skirts"

    I didn’t have to buy maternity clothes during my pregnancy. My belly stayed small and the baby was born during the summer. So I wore stretchy skirts and dresses.

    I once made these pants that I maybe not so humbly describe as "the best pants in the world" because they simply haven't failed me yet. They're big, comfy, baloony pants that I've tried using for so many things - normal day, pyjamas, traveling, sleeping - and they always pass the test. I just realized they would also probably accommodate a pregnant belly, too.
    So if I were pregnant, my whole wardrobe would probably just be The Best Pants In the World, and something else to wear while they're in the washer 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
