Well, that old Land Rover has ONE good thing going for it. It is a remarkable aid in helping the owners to be Rover mechanics. 😄 Heh, heh…. DAMN, how can somebody own such a giant body of water? LOVE that Firebox Stove. Simon, I bet family loves when you practice cooking at home…sooo good! Or, is the campfire the only time you get to eat meat…heh, heh…😊? Sitting in the cold rain, a long way from the car and comfort of home, making a video for us…man-o-man, Simon !!! Do you ever wonder why you have so many RUclips followers? I don’t. I hope you celebrate a wonderful birthday. 🎁🎊🎉 Thanks from an old retired vet, in the hills of east Tennessee.

Beautiful little video simon. It is so nice to see the different seasons on the river, also your canoe is stunning. Cheered me right up watching this. Thanks

I am happy for you Simon. Piece of tarp could be ery useful in sucha scenery . It's dredful to be on the water completly soak in wet. I enjoy watching your videos.
Hi, Just been watching this again.... you are certainly nowhere near as precious with that beautiful boat as I am with my lesser boat!! Anyway, am now able to look at that area anew having paddled around there in my wood canoe and camping, this summer. You are so right that Salhouse is rammed in the summer, and with the cash grabbing miseries by the pontoon...I decided to give it a miss. You inspire me to try some solo winter paddling there, or anywhere! Despite all... the Broads, for those that don't know them are wonderful to visit by canoe...at any time
Sound of the water rippling as you go through it, lovely relaxing sound, never remember the Broads being that empty even in winter, must be great having them to yourself. Enjoy your birthday with your family.
Simon I don't know if it was mentioned by anyone but if you have a decent dry bag you can use that filled with water for ballast when windy. The bonus is you can empty it when you need to portage and refill on the other side. 😊 Cheers
I’m not in the least bit envious. No. Not at all. Really. Sigh. Lincolnshire. Not a lot of woodland accessible. Virtually no waterways.. Nice spice pack mate! Love your videos Simon, always a joy to watch and to see your obvious joy in what you are doing. Best wishes.
What a beautiful way to see the broads, I wish I could be bothered to shift my arse from the fireside and go and see the Norfolk Broads in winter for myself. Very nicely filmed and edited too. Thank you...
You certainly picked a lovely day for it..ha ha..! I quite like fishing in the rain ...! I have a two piece floatation suit I bought for shore fishing ( sea..) Luxury it is in bad weather...and so toasty. With the hood up, its like a sleeping bag. I felt the scratches as you tried to get the canoe over the weeds.....I love that boat..!😁 Cracking video again...Thanks for taking us along...Cheers 👍
Oh where to begin? The slide guitar? The Broads in winter? The fabulous boat of yours? Or pork belly and chilli!? Fabulous....I shall be continuing my excursions up on the Broads this year in my wood boat. Have a great birthday,,,,,really looking forward to seeing something of the Swedish trip! Thank you...again!
Thank you, you give me great motivation to go out and enjoy the outdoors, getting out my canoe this weekend ( not near as nice as yours ) and hitting the Chattahoochee River close to my house. Thanks again. Cheers!
The one I had now was really nice, (cutaway sticks head in water and drinks a gallon) , I found this video very relaxing as I had just come in from shoveling at least 6 inches of ice and snow off the walkway.
Great little video Mate! You are right to be cautious of those sauces, some are extremely hot. BEST of Wishes for a Wonderful Birthday, to a Wonderful Friend...Atb Von
Just getting into bushcraft myself through my wildlife photography and I'm really enjoying your videos. I'm from Norfolk myself so it's good to see recognizable places in your videos. Thanks for sharing :)
Hey Simon, I absolutely love your content! Found you recently while searching for a completely unrelated topic, but I'm very glad to have found your channel!
Great film as ever Simon, most impressive to persevere in all weathers. Delighted to hear about your trip to Stora Le and can’t wait the the stories about Sweden. My lad’s badgered me to go to Sweden with him so hopefully we’ll canoe from Kloten in September (we did that trip in 2012) with another couple of guys. Happy birthday too 👍🍷
Thanks Stu! I’m so excited about Sweden - not knowing where was good to paddle and where we could hire canoes, we were naturally drawn to Stora Le (that and the beautiful picture Dave painted of the place!) I hope you have a great time in September! 😁🛶
I’m jealous you can go for a paddle in winter. Here in 🇨🇦 no one can own water, even if you were to own all the land surrounding a body of water you still don’t own a waterway. Cheers a the great vid👍
Hi Simon.. another wonderful video...shame about the rain..but hey ho god old British weather ..loving the firebox yet again one of my fav piece's of kit..during bad weather I always carry some charcoal in a zip lock bag enough to fill the firebox halfway and woodwool fire lighters works great.. keep the vids comming and happy birthday for the weekend 👍🍻
Well done Simon, you made a great job of the video, look forward to seeing you out again especially the one you mentioned doing with Andy of Kent survival, thanks for sharing 👍
I've wanted to due a paddle so bad these last few weeks but still froze and lots of snow cant wait till we thaw out the rivers get up and I can get out as always love the vids and living vicariously through your adventures !
Superb video Simon. Puts my four mile paddle along the Shropshire Union canal today totally in the shade ! Thank you as always for inspiring . Happy birthday for next week mate.
Very nice. We're a bit short on navigable water in Colorado--all manmade reservoirs, tiny trout streams or heavy duty very fast/deep/dangerous rapids. On the hot sauce, just stay away from anything north of habanero peppers on the Scoville chart--no ghost peppers or Carolina Reapers.
@10:20... portage, mon ami, portage!! lol Great vid. Love it when you include canoeing in your videos. Pork belly looked delicious... could almost smell it from here!! And an early Happy B’day to you!!
Hello Simon. I don't know if you've done this, but here is s cheat; use these fire-starter's when it's raining. Collect your loo-paper rolls, fill them with lint from your clothes dryer after you've spread Vaseline in the lint. Wrap the rolls in paper towel and pack them in a plastic bag. When it's raining or going to rain, pack a few of these with you. Cheers!!!!
The Firebox stoves are the best (IMHO) pack stoves made. I have one set up in each of my camp kits. Priceless. Another awesome video sir. Thank you.
Sometimes bad weather is the best weather. Thanks for the adventure.
Your videos are a tonic. Thanks Simon
Thank you , Simon .
🐺 Loupis Canis .
I commend your quality footage Si. Heavily under appreciated imo.
Another great video Simon. As you said you should always bring a tarp so that you can get out of the rain at least for lunch!
Hardcore bushcraft mate! "Rain, cold, wind who cares I'm going out!" good stuff 👍👍👍
Cheers mate! Cant let the weather stop us eh! 😁💦💦💦💦🛶
Great couple. Always watch your video's and enjoy it. It is a same i live on the other side of the water ;)

I like how you checked your blind spot at 26:50 before you set off 😂
Mirror, signal, manoeuvre! It’s instinctive, I nearly got run down by an electric boat a couple of years ago!
Hi. I love your videos, so thanks. Your canoe is a thing of beauty.
Curious, do use a compass when you paddle across large boards like this? If so, maybe a video about how you use your compass in/ on your canoe trips?
Awesome canoe trip and I simply adore the Norfolk/Suffolk broads and rivers. Take care...
Cheers John!
You certainly picked the perfect weather for a day out in the canoe. You looked very cold and wet.. Great watch though mate 👍
Simon, a bloke in the woods King Billy!! I love it 😂😂
I am happy for you Simon. Piece of tarp could be ery useful in sucha scenery . It's dredful to be on the water completly soak in wet. I enjoy watching your videos.

Sound of the water rippling as you go through it, lovely relaxing sound, never remember the Broads being that empty even in winter, must be great having them to yourself. Enjoy your birthday with your family.
Thank you Trev! Yes, I expected to see a couple of boats puttering along too. Blissfully quiet! 😁🛶
I loved watching Great Canal Journeys. One of my favorites was the Norfolk Broads episode.
Have a happy birthday!
Thanks Rosie! 😁
The swan was excellent
Hi Simon thanks for such a great vid and nearly getting frost bite to make it you more than earned the belly pork.
Geez, they breed them tough in Britain! Thanks for the video and have a very happy birthday Simon.
Thanks buddy! 😁
Nice video Simon, I loved the music, it just "fit" the video. Thanks from Kentucky :)

Oh, pork bellies, yum! Great exploration paddle in the rain. Thanks for sharing!
I’m not in the least bit envious. No. Not at all. Really.
Sigh.
Lincolnshire. Not a lot of woodland accessible. Virtually no waterways..
Nice spice pack mate!
Love your videos Simon, always a joy to watch and to see your obvious joy in what you are doing.
Best wishes.
Thanks John! I always assumed you had a few rivers and canals in Lincs? I’ve not really explored your county at all. Cheers, Simon
Keep it up bro, Respect😇
Thanks for another great video, Simon! Hope you got to warm up properly after this trip.
Thanks Denise, I did eventually - the heating in my Land Rover is non existent, but I warmed up at home! 😁
What a beautiful way to see the broads, I wish I could be bothered to shift my arse from the fireside and go and see the Norfolk Broads in winter for myself.
Very nicely filmed and edited too. Thank you...
Thanks Andy! Best time of year to visit - no hoards of stag weekend revellers and nitwits crashing into every other boat and bank on the Broads! 😁👍
Stunning place the broads I’ve been there a few times on holiday we stayed at stalham on a river boat
You certainly picked a lovely day for it..ha ha..! I quite like fishing in the rain ...! I have a two piece floatation suit I bought for shore fishing ( sea..) Luxury it is in bad weather...and so toasty. With the hood up, its like a sleeping bag.
I felt the scratches as you tried to get the canoe over the weeds.....I love that boat..!😁
Cracking video again...Thanks for taking us along...Cheers 👍
Cheers Robert! Wish I had a dry suit that day! 💦💦💦💦💦 thanks mate. 😁
Well done for getting that fire going, the rain and cold can be a challenge. "If it ain't raining, it ain't training"
Cheers Andy! I’m going to remember that saying next time I’m struggling in the rain! 💦💦💦💦💦
About 3 seconds after I thought tarp you said it. Love the firebox and the food. Nice video, thanks
Thanks Chris! 😁
The pork belly strips looked tasty, Simon. I'll be looking for your adventure in Sweden in May. Thanks for sharing your adventures!

That sounds much more sensible! We have some odd laws over here regarding where you can go/not go! 😔
I’m moving to Canada!!! 😁
Simon, a bloke in the woods in Ontario we have over 250 000 lakes. This is paddle county! Come over and hang out for a while 🤘
Great video Simon!
Thank you! Really enjoying the Liberty bottle - it’s ideal for the canoe, scooping up water as I need it. 👍 great kit!

Thanks for the advise! I remember there being a Reaper challenge going around for a while last year! No chance I’m going anywhere near that!! 😁🔥🔥🔥
Loved the set up and canoe segments, Simon. Grear stuff as always!
Thanks Derek! Atb mate. 😁
Never saw someone walking so fast with carrying a canoe on top. Good music too.
@10:20... portage, mon ami, portage!! lol Great vid. Love it when you include canoeing in your videos. Pork belly looked delicious... could almost smell it from here!! And an early Happy B’day to you!!
Thanks Michael! Wasn’t sure if it would qualify for a portage 😂😂 Atb, Simon
can not wait to watch this.
Cheers!!!!
Good tip! I’ll give them a go - I use drier lint on its own sometimes, the Vaseline sounds like a great idea. 👍
