At first I would like to thank cruiseman (Chris) for all the videos, they are of exceptional quality, and above all with clear and precise explanations. he has the way to popularize the terms to make this understand. I confirm the videos on request or the DVDs for the goldwing before 2018 are really detailed and in addition I saved hundreds of dollars in maintenance. Thank you Chris and keep up the good work
I just recently purchased my 2018 Goldwing with the Motor Trike conversion. Since this is my first bike with navigation, and since I had heard your previous criticisms, I didn't know what to expect. I was somewhat surprised because I really like the system. I uploaded the 2020 software package, thanks for your heads up. I have discovered that the Honda Navigation fits my needs, if you consider it junk you must expect much more from the navigation system than I do.
Good info on accessories - just kidding but you missed the drivers backrest - it’s that big thing on your video behind you! LOL I think you upgraded the seat as well - Wingsoft?
Thanks for the review Cruiseman! I have yet to encounter anyone that finds the audio system on any bike to be useful and that passenger audio control panel just cracks me up. I do have to admit I do use mine for listening to the radio when I'm cleaning the garage tho. LOL
yes I do know how Don mounted his as I was looking at you next video and saw how he had mounted it outside on the trunk lid...However I would thing you could mount it under the rear cowel as it seems to me there is less plastic for the radio waves to go thru back there lol and you have what at least 3 layers up front. Oh well will just have to wait and see I guess thats for gettin back to me regarding this
I brought a new GW to eliminate old technology. GPS mounted on the handle bar is so dated and legacy. Yuk Cruiseman. But I do love your videos you speak very clearly. Keep up the good work.
Im glad that my own opinion on some of the accessories has been validated by your review. I passed on the trunk rack at purchase because of the lid issue and really, a 5 lb useable load? I will be looking at Gold Strike trunk lighting minus the rack. Also the Gold Strike highway pegs - highly adjustable and they don't block the 'Honda' logo on the engine! Need to know about that Utopia backrest because the OEM looks cheap. LOL at 'the GPS is junk'. Love Garmin products - that Zumo looks like the way to go. So many accessories to add in the future - picking up my DCT Tour in 2 days.
Great, helpful review! Please review more products like other vendors' highway pegs/boards, wind defectors, passenger arm rests, stand pads, fender extension, and especially driver backrests. Thanks for the great videos!
Regarding the paddle lights - I do not have them but have noticed that my rotor switch lights intermittently in teh same manner. The power always comes on but about 30% of the time, when I approach the bike, the rotor switch does not illuminate. Keep up the great videos.
Thanks for video. Question: I would like your suggestion on easiest way to add a power adapter to charge my cell phone for a 2016 Honda Goldwing. Can you help?
Cruiseman, I love your simple and clear videos. Thank you ! I also installed the courtesy LED lights. I own 2020 DCT Tour. They do not come on when I approach the bike. Never did. Only when I press the remote button from far even, the flashers will blink once or twice, can't recall and the LED courtesy will come on. They do stay on for like 2 mins. Sometimes, after they go off and when I open the rear trunk, they will come on again. When I turn the bike off, they will come on as well. Very strange. Update: Found out that they do work via the fob key when you approach the bike and every time !!!! One condition for it to work like that, the surrounding has to be dark or close to it.
Added the utopia back rest last week. Am planning to do the wing soft seat this fall after the riding season. Would like to see a review from you before I send my seat in. Minnesota not a good place for all season riding. Thanks I went with the RIVCO pegs after your review of them.
I am so thankful I found your videos. The local dealer has a 2018 white Goldwing Tour bike still in the crate (never sold) that I am likely to purchase next week. I was thinking of just purchasing the Honda Fog Lights and have the dealer install them as they are assembling the motorcycle because it would be easier (my opinion) and because in a previous video you stated the standard lights don't REALLY allow the bike to be seen well by other motorist while riding. Any idea if the aftermarket lights that you recommend will connect to the Honda Fog Light wiring harness? I could have the dealer install the Honda Fog Light harness and purchase the lights YOU recommend if they are compatible with each other. I'm somewhat "handy" at mechanical stuff but I'm certainly not a skilled m/c mechanic.Thank you for all of the amazing and informative videos.
Great video as you normally do. I have the factory LED entry lights and I have the same problem that they work intermittently. Also, I have added several accessories from Goldstrike that I love. I added the electric isolator and their lights for the back luggage trunk, and lower lights also. They are sequential and since I town a trailer, I discovered that the factory lights are only at the lower section of the bike so nobody can see them with my trailer. I can't believe Honda eliminated lights on the trunk as with a trailer it is a big safety issue. I also added the passenger and rider highway pegs. In my opinion they are beautifully made, enhance the look of the bike, are fully adjustable, and the rider pegs do not hide the look of the engine. I am also a relatively short ride 5'8" tall and did not like that the handle bars make me lean forward which I found uncomfortable on a long ride. I added the handlebar riser/relocator from HeliBar. I can now ride sitting up and long rides are wonderful.
great review Cruiseman! i thumbed it. quick question4u, where do you see the vin# written on the GW in general, is it by the forks or frame on a sticker? I need to match it vs. title sometime this week and wana make sure if there is one or 2 ways to verify? any points on this wld b appreciated! thanks!
Been awhile since I looked, but I think it is actually hidden under a small panel on the frame. I will try to get a photo to show. I think it is on the right side of the bike, but have not looked in some time.
Great reviews on your add ons. I don’t own a GW (yet), maybe someday and I find it interesting that you cannot load more than 5 pounds on that nice trunk rack. So a gallon of milk or a 12 pack of beer is too heavy.... so is it the lid or the hinges that are the limiting factor or what? Anything strapped on it will raise your center of gravity, but for short runs to the store it would be better if it could handle a bit more weight!
Also interested in new Goldsrike grips if u decide to review. My experience with goldstrike is all their stuff is top notch, curious if u have same assessment.
is there a way to change the lights on the chrome fork covers that have the running and turn signal in them they seem pretty thin haven't found any replacements yet
Needs to have better stereo system and better speakers! Also passenger needs cup holder armrest and adjustable foot pegs for a choice of different levels to place feet. The passenger seat is not comfortable like the 2016 model. Can these things be added to the 2022 model?
Hey Cruz man this is George I own a 95 goldwing I have a trunk rack and had the side rails And I found out not over tighten the bolts because the panels will warp You have to kind of snug Then only. Show If you over tighten them On A hot day They will warp. You can't put any pressure on it.
Another GPS option is the TomTom Rider 550. Around $350 with lifetime worldwide maps and traffic. Easy Wi-Fi updates and a cinch to add way points from the computer. Garmins are great but too expensive.
Very good review of the accessories, I've been looking for mounts on the handle bars for accessories such as the GPS or GoPro stuff, where might I find these items. Thanks
Chris, I have a question regarding the serious radio ant.I know the cable for the Ant is designed to go front the very front top of the bike to the rear lower section under the rear seat. My questiob is can or could the lead wire be shortened and then the ant portion be placed under the rear cowling ?
I am not sure if you can shorten the wire, but you could mount the antenna behind the passenger backrest, on top of he trunk lid. Not sure what the reception would be like under the rear cowl. Also, you can buy a less expensive XM Antenna on Amazon. You just need to deal with the excess wire.
I do not have an iPhone, so I have not experienced that. However, I have seen the videos to which you are referring. iPhone/CarPlay users need to make sure they have the latest navigation update installed from Honda.
I am wracking my brain to recall the Tail/Brake/Running light insert that is Superior to Kisan, Signal Dynamics and Custom (?) Dynamics (et cetera). Motorcycle Consumer News (R.I.P.) had a back cover story on it about eight years ago. The reason it is Soo-perior (supposedly) is that it utilizes a Decelerometer to actuate the pulsing, adjustable flashes Instead of Depending Upon brake application. Therfore, your bike will be signaling following vehicles if you:1) roll off the throttle; 2) downshift; 3) lose power (are you listening, BMW R-series?); OR, 4) activate the Brakes. The company name began with a "V" (I believe) and was located between Los Angeles and San Diego. Now if only my S.O. had not tossed out my 12 years of MCN.
Could you please include subtitles, like on RUclips, in your Honda Gold Wing 2018 and newer maintenance videos, including Arabic as one of the available languages?
For a top of the line bike, and given that we see HomeLink and Sirius XM as standard equipment on most cars, why not just include it. I am surprised Sirius doesn’t subsidize it as they gain subscriptions.
"As you know the built-in GPS on the Goldwing is junk"...lol. That seems to be the consensus and Honda received an ear full from several owners at last years Wing Ding.
First of all thanks for the great informational vids 👏✊👍🏼 Second, are you aware of a modulated brake light/directional turn light that will mount directly on the top case? I’m reluctant to mount a bracket for the sole purpose of serving as a mount for the lights. (2018 Gold Wing Tour)
what is the best windshield for helping to keep the wind from buffeting the passenger I am 6'4 and my wife sits half head above me would a tulsa tall or something like that work
My choice would be what I have, the F4 Customs +4. About 2" wider and 4" taller than stock and excellent build quality. ruclips.net/video/jTKV6nq1NzU/видео.html
A little something to consider: It appears that you haven't added the CB radio. There are a few of us left who still use them on pack rides, so they're still relevant. The reason I'm mentioning this is that the switchgear for the CB uses the clutch mounting perch - which means you can't use it for anything else (like your GPS). I've run up against this with my mug holder (Butler) that on this bike has to be mounted on the throttle side. And oh, by the way, the CB on my bike, as it is now, is probably worse for a CB user than the GPS is a power user like yourself. Biggest gripe is that incoming transmissions are almost completely inaudible once in motion - you can't increase the volume enough to overcome road noise. Fairing speakers are only marginally better than the headset. Don't know yet if it's just my unit or a "feature" requiring a software/firmware update, but we'll see.
Thank You for producing this video.
I have not. I did reach out to Corbin early on about getting a set to review, but never got a response.
At first I would like to thank cruiseman (Chris) for all the videos, they are of exceptional quality, and above all with clear and precise explanations. he has the way to popularize the terms to make this understand.

Man you need your own tv show. You're so thorough!

Perfect English. Thank you for this video Cruiseman..
My 2019 GW GPS works great. To search for a street, must preface with East or west before street name. Works great
The Honda rear passenger audio controller installation would also totally exclude trike conversions if I understand it correctly.
Love your videos. Am looking for one where you remove the cover on the engine guard/tie down and replace it with a trim piece. Can you help me?
yes I do know how Don mounted his as I was looking at you next video and saw how he had mounted it outside on the trunk lid...However I would thing you could mount it under the rear cowel as it seems to me there is less plastic for the radio waves to go thru back there lol and you have what at least 3 layers up front. Awesome review, really helps to discern which accessories add functionality and value, great review!

Like David I was waiting to hear about the backrest.(ha ha) Love your videos keep up the great work!
I still have a few to teview
Excellent video. THIS is the video that persuaded me to subscribe. Thank-you.

Good video. I use Apple CarPlay for my xm app that’s on my iPhone to keep from that install nightmare
Cruiseman, I love your simple and clear videos. Thank you ! I also installed the courtesy LED lights. I own 2020 DCT Tour. They do not come on when I approach the bike. Never did. You spoke about the Garmin's GPS at the end, but how is it mounted to the handle bar?
Great video, as usual!!!
Thanks for the tips. Any chance you have reviewed the HeliBar Risers?
I have not, sorry.
The backrest is awesome, got one and installed based on your prior video. If possible a comparison between wing soft and rdl would be great.
I am so thankful I found your videos. The local dealer has a 2018 white Goldwing Tour bike still in the crate (never sold) that I am likely to purchase next week. Ever install the pathfinder led fog light on an older wing like an 04
I have not, but the install should be virtually identical to a 2012.
Great video as you normally do. I have the factory LED entry lights and I have the same problem that they work intermittently. Also, I have added several accessories from Goldstrike that I love. Have you done a review of Corbins luggage side cover lids that extend the saddlebags ?
No, I have not. I have reached out to Corbin a few times, but no response.

What about a seat upgrade or backrest? You can see your backrest on the video but you did not discuss it.
Ran short on time. I will cover that in a future video.
Have you had any issues with your Apple car play and can you do a video about it? Ive seen a video with the screen messing up..
I do not have an iPhone, so I have not experienced that. However, I have seen the videos to which you are referring. iPhone/CarPlay users need to make sure they have the latest navigation update installed from Honda.
If you could do it again, would you install the trunk rack and under light or go with the Goldstrike trunk lights?
Good question. Maybe neither.
Just seen the gold strike trunk light and is looks great, might buy it!
I’m a trucker as far as gps farming my far is the best out there.Easy to set
You didn’t talk about adding your seat backrest for the driver
I also had problems with the led entry lights
Those wheel stripes would look great on a black bike.
Yes!

Thanks for the heads up on the passenger audio.
Any time!
My entry LEDs are working the same way yours are, “occasionally “ .
I have never heard Honda admit to that.
I think 2018 need after market big trunk with lights
Corbin has an aftermarket trunk lid as well as saddle bags.
I installed a Sirius/XM antenna on the roof of my house. After some time it didn’t work I had to get a new one.
For a top of the line bike, and given that we see HomeLink and Sirius XM as standard equipment on most cars, why not just include it. I am surprised Sirius doesn’t subsidize it as they gain subscriptions.
Great video.
Is the garmin gps sound integrated into the speaker system and if so how did you do it
No. Bluetooth, connects to my Cardo headset.
How do u feel about adding heli bars?
I have no problem with it. I have heard good things about them, but have never personally tried them.
@@cruisemansgarage thank you
Thanks buddy

Seat?
I still have about 4 accessories/upgrades I need to review, I was running long on time :(
Wouldn't you think Honda would have a great Navigation System?... WTH
