It is not a must. The ring light also serves as a tripod. An extra tripod is only needed if you want to be more productive or shoot in different angles . That way you’re not adjusting your ring light too often when using it as a tripod. (The height is adjustable on the ring light). In my case, I already had a small tripod for pictures before starting my RUclips channel. So I didn’t specifically purchase one for RUclips. So for a beginner on a budget, I suggest getting a ring light instead. Just make sure it is extendable. Because some aren’t. Let me know if I answered your question

@@suecook8379 Hi. Thank you for your feedback. In my case I always shoot horizontally because RUclips is my primary platform. For shorts, I simply cut clips from the original videos and change the ratio to fit the shorts format. As for editing, I personally use the InShot app. You can easily convert a horizontal video into a vertical one for Shorts, Reels or TikToks in the app. And it’s easy to use for beginners. I hope that helps.
