Isn’t Dr Tae just a wonderful example of our Daily Connoisseur community- so poised, radiating kindness and grace and so elegant. Thank you so much for this very informative interview. Can we have her on again?!
It is ALL ABOUT INSULIN. Never count calories, THAT is what messes with your metabolism. It will lower your metabolism and make you put on weight in the long term as your body hits homeostasis. If you want an expert on fasting, check out Dr Fung, (author of The Obesity Code, The Diabetes Code, The Complete Guide to Fasting, The Cancer Code) a Nephrologist who uses it to help patients with metabolic syndromes, diabetes, obesity, fatty liver, etc, based on medical science and research on humans. Lots of videos on RUclips and books on Audible.
It’s funny that many people (INCLUDING MANY DOCTORS) say intermittent fasting is extreme, but they don’t express the concern of our eating habits that are killing us as being extreme.
I hope you enjoyed my interview with the lovely Dr. Patty Tae! I'm looking forward to reading your comments and questions down below. Have a wonderful day, everyone. Love, Jennifer
One thing that wasn’t mentioned but would be helpful, I think, to your listeners is that hunger doesn’t grow in intensity with time, that it actually just comes in waves. So if you’re hungry in the morning and drink water and ride that hunger out your hunger will subside for a while, it may come back in an hour or two, but if you ride that out, it will subside again, and so on.
This is definitely a drawback currently. As my weight has gotten to a good place the hunger pangs from 530 am to 11 are getting more frequent and challenging. I do 11-7 due to our work schedules. Lots of morning hydration. May need a longer window.
That is so smart. Drinking water, or even coffee or tea, is a good substitute for a snack, and then you will be hungry enough to appreciate your next meal.
@@laurasexton8932 I'm currently fasting from about 6pm-Noon the next day. I have black coffee in the morning when I wake up which helps curb my appetite and then I also like to drink some sparkling water later in the morning. The carbonation really helps to fill me up until I reach my eating window. What also seems to help me is that I break my fast with a light meal (generally a turkey wrap) and I have a larger dinner heading into my fasting time. This way I'm not crazy hungry when I wake up. I hope you can find something that works for you!
I found it easiest to "sneak up" on intermittent fasting. I started to eat off smaller plates, eliminated bad things like sugar, soft drinks and juices, crackers, cookies; then stopped snacking, went to three meals a day with nothing after dinner, and then started narrowing the eating window. It is now 9 am-6 pm (15/9) and now I am at target weight. It took a while but I was happier with incremental, rather than abrupt, changes.
This is good to hear! That’s kind of what I’ve been doing & I’ve found it easier, too. One step at a time has been helpful. Glad to hear your success following a similar path!
Mental discipline, wait for your meals and do not eat when it's dark. Mindblowing statement. 🤯 that's the secret weapon. All kinds of gems in this interview Jennifer thank you🌷😊💕
Yes, your greatgrand parents and grandparents ate based on the sun hours. They got up early and finished their day early thus getting plenty of sleep which keeps weight off too.
Intermittent fasting also supports healthy teeth and gums by having to “wait for your meals,” as you both discussed. My dentist suggested that 3 hours between meals would allow a cycle to run to reset the pH in your saliva and fully process what you ate (it sounded kind of like a dishwasher cycle!). He told me he sees a lot of “Starbucks mouth,” tooth decay that results from sipping sweet drinks throughout day, which doesn’t allow that reset. Great info in this episode and lovely guest!
I watched this interview with interest knowing very little about IF, but I did some research today and see some benefits. The comment was made that it is not easy in the beginning but I thought I would try this evening to stop eating after our early dinner. Well, the evening is hardly over (9:17pm) but I have learned 3 things in just these few short hours. 1) Most of my evening eating is mindless....eat to eat not b/c I'm hungry; 2) My normal nighttime bloat is not present; 3) When one decides to watch mindless television to keep from mindless eating one realizes that every commercial is food related and geared to encouraging mindless unhealthy eating! :) Thank you, Jennifer, for doing this interview and I look forward to continuing my exploration of the topic with a goal of a healthier me on the other side.
I am your age, I love it and I feel so much better, once you are on it for a week, or so, start looking on RUclips for stuff on insulin...look at nutritionist Autumn Bates. she is short and to the point. Good luck, Good health!
I've been doing IF for almost 4 months now. For that time, I didn't lose any weight at all. Then, out if desperation more than anything I started paying attention to my daily calories. And oh my goodness, I was eating way too much in my eating window! I've since been keeping track and ensuring I'm within 1,300-1,200 calories per day and in the first 5 days I lost 3lbs. This is me still eating whatever I want but making sure my portions are the right size. So note to everyone out there: IF won't work if you're still eating too much food. Lol! 😅 IF has been the easiest change to my diet I've ever done.
I've definitely eaten too many calories while doing IF in the past, but I still lost a couple of pounds. I started again this week, paying more attention to what I'm eating. Hoping to be more successful this time around. 🤞
@@theynot4u that doesn't work for me as I have a metabolic disorder. I don't have a thyroid and the hormone replacement in my experience, is just not the same thing as an actual organ. I have lost a few small pounds this summer doing Dansique fitness and hard outdoor labor almost every day. And intermittent fasting with caloric restrictions. But never lose more than 1-3 lbs.
Fantastic interview, Jennifer! Was hoping for a question about processed food, the mainstay of the standard American diet (SAD) today. I notice in your videos about what you eat in a day, the majority of your food is fresh and unprocessed. Seems the quality of the food is as important as time restricted eating for lifelong health. Hope you have her on again!
I love this! I start 14/10 fasting when my babies turn 3 months old, because it feels natural and keeps me from snacking late into the night. I eat at 8 am and I’m done eating by 6pm. Once they turn 1 year, i start 16/8. It’s a perfect balance for me.
please keep these intermittent fasting videos coming - you are so inspiring. I have started at 122 and want to be back to where I feel more comfortable at 116. I have a small frame and my clothes feel better. Mostly I want my Hemoglobin A1C to go down. I have been doing IF for 3 weeks - finally able to do coffee without cream and went 16 hours! your videos have so inspired me!! I am finally feeling more in control of SNACKING!!
This was a great interview and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband and I are retired. We enjoy eating dinner between 3 and 5pm, depending on what is going on. I am successful doing the IF however I think I need to focus on smaller portions. I'm 71 and probably 20 pounds overweight -it is so much harder to take off now. I would love to have you interview Dr. Tae again. As always, your channel is so interesting and informative.
Very nice and informative interview. Coming from Easter Europe mid day meal is our largest, than vary light in the late afternoon. When I first moved here and started having big meals with American family I felt like staffed turkey! Digestive system kept me from sleeping at night, after 3 months I went back to my European schedule and felt right away amazing better.
This video has been incredibly helpful. I started IF after watching your video on your weight loss after a year but pushed myself to a 20 hour window after reading that it was better for more weight loss. Being a menopausal woman aged 54, there have been days where I have not succeeded because my body has needed to eat and this has left me feeling really down. Having watched this video, I shall go back to my 16 hour window and be more consistent and refrain from snacking in-between meals. Thank you Jennifer, please don't stop talking about IF, I could never go back to eating all day now!
Great interview! I have been doing IF for 2 months now & was relieved to hear her say the special (keto) diet isn’t necessary or do-able long term. It was bothering me because you here that it’s necessary constantly, and I just can’t happily commit to that. So, thank you for this lovely, supportive information.
Loved this. IF has helped me in many areas of my life, not just my physical health. I've become much better at delaying gratification and being less impulsive and more self disciplined in general. The list of benefits keeps growing (no more food obsession, calmer, smaller grocery bill, more productive, mental clarity, increased energy for exercise and family, and more). I am also sailing through menopause without gaining weight or bloat. Hot flashes are gone. Seriously, my body loves this. I started off with 16:8, but I now prefer 20:4 and one meal a day (includes appetizer, main meal, and sometimes dessert -- a real dessert). I love it. I'm at my high school weight at age 54 and my clothes fit well again. I didn't have much weight to lose, but I was bloated, tired, and the weight was beginning to creep up when I hit my 50's. This has been a wonderful, joyful, peaceful, easy answer. I just wish I could go back and tell my younger self you don't have to do all those nutty, complicated, expensive diets that just wreck your metabolism and skew your view of food. Now nothing -- absolutely nothing -- is bad or forbidden, and my body has naturally started to crave real, whole foods. The food snobbery is real. Now I look at so many processed foods and think, "It's not good enough -- not window worthy." If I only eat one meal a day, then it needs to be amazingly good. I enjoy cooking again, and I love to try new things. I highly recommend it.
I think having your largest meal around mid-day is one of the most powerful tools of all. It was so affirming to hear that an earlier eating window results in more weight loss. It’s just intuitive. Thanks to both of you!
We eat dinner at 5pm as well. You see my husband gets home at 5 so I like to have him a meal ready. He works hard all day to provide for his family and I don't take that lightly. 💕
I started IF in March or April when I saw your video on weight loss. I have always had high cholesterol and very high triglycerides and I have to take thyroid medicine. I had blood work in December and everything was normally high. In the last few months I lost 10 lbs but the big surprise was my blood work this month. My triglycerides were way down into the normal rate. My cholesterol was still high but my good HDL had gone up to 84 which was about 10 points higher. My doctor was very happy with my numbers. I’m hoping in December they will be even better. I do 16/8 IF and usually that is eating only two meals with a snack in the middle and I quit at 4. I’m never really hungry on this schedule. I’m very thankful I started and Dr Tae had so many good ideas.
I think that we have been bombarded with so many different approaches to dieting, that we no longer trust our body's signals. And that's the worst we can do. I was there, too, i.e. forcing myself to eat every 2-3 hours because the approach was said to be healthy, even if it didn't make me feel good and healthy at all. Fortunately, I came to my senses and stopped this nonsense. And what exactly convinced me to IF, is what you mentioned, Jennifer, that it felt natural. Because it is not depriving or forcing yourself, but simply still enjoying your food, just eating in moderation and giving your body the chance to not only digest 24/7 but take full care of other internal processes, too.
Been on IF for 4 months and have lost 26 1/2 lbs...2 lbs from my high school weight! First time in 50 years I've even gotten close! Best and easiest eating change I've ever made !
Regarding dinner time- The earliest my family eats is usually 6pm, sometimes 7 or 7:30, especially in the summer. I end my eating window earlier, but I'll sit with them and have a cup of herbal tea or green tea. We usually have someone over for dinner or eat with someone else at least once a week. With a few people, I will explain that I'm doing IF and stick to tea. Most of the time, I enjoy supper and conversation, and I'm back on track the next day. (And a side note- My two teenagers still go to bed relatively early. We consider 10PM late.)
I have started intermittent fasting a couple of months ago, or actually, as I like to call it, going back to a normal eating habit. Apparently I was doing intermittent fasting for the first 20 years of my life, and I feel so much better. This endless snacking throughout the day seems to be an invention of the 21st century.
I enjoyed this immensely. I am 64 and thankfully have been pretty healthy all my life. However, I’ve found the older I get, it’s more difficult maintaining my weight. I began IF by accident actually. We were moving and I was so busy getting our house ready to sell, baby sitting, and other responsibilities that by the time I ate, it was around 11 or noon. Then I’d get right back to work and was so exhausted at the end of the day, that I went to bed fairly early. I noticed I was losing weight, then started hearing about IF. Now I’ve gotten back to practicing IF and it’s amazing how beneficial it is! Also, like you Jennifer, I sleep better and I feel so much better both physically and mentally. I love how I can still enjoy my sweet treats as well. I don’t overdo it but I’m also a big fan of all things in moderation. Thank you Jennifer and Dr. Tae! God bless you both!
You’re so right about eating all day long & not having boundaries around food and meals. We also have dinner at 5. I just find it easier with young children to give us time for bath/bedtime. Plus, like you, I’m too tired at the end of the day and like to be done with the kitchen before the children go to bed. Then it’s my time.
This is one of your best interviews. I learned so much. And my son has type 1 and everything Dr. Tae says about insulin in general is true. I hope you have her on again, this is the first interview that I watched the whole way through. I got a lot of tips for my own weight loss and bedtime tips for my (slim) teenage son who is going to bed too late and sleeping all day!
I really enjoyed this. She is an informed and pleasing speaker. It’s one thing to hear someone’s experience but quite another to hear professional advice. I have used IF and it’s the only thing that has worked on my post menopausal body.
Thank you Jen and Dr. Tae for an informative interview. I have written down your excellent explanation about IF, “It is a mental discipline to wait for your next meal and not eat after dark”. So practical, doable and encouraging!
We've been eating dinner at 5 for years. I did that growing up as well. It just works better with kids and getting everyone bathed and to bed at a good time. I started to IF a couple months ago (not eating before breakfast at nine, or after dinner at 5) and it is making a difference for my weight for the first time since I had kids. I'm actually currently pregnant, and while I wouldn't probably START intermittent fasting after you're already pregnant, because I was already doing it before I was, I decided to continue because I was noticing that my pregnancy symptoms were SO MUCH easier to manage. I have had barely any morning sickness at all, absolutely no cravings, and am honestly sleeping great. As a caveat, I was in the obese range when I started this, so if your bmi is under 30 it's never recommend to loose weight during pregnancy, but because my weight was so high it was going to be safer for me and my baby to get me into a healthier place in a gentle and safe way. I think IF is the gentlest way you can do this really, since it doesn't have the same intense hormonal changes as starting intense cardio or some during pregnancy which can be very detrimental.
@@CG-mj8tk Yes. With my first the only think I could stomach was plain (unflavored) cereal with milk. EVERYTHING else made me puke- fruit, meat, dairy, whatever it was it was not good at all. With my second I didn't have as much actual vomiting, but I literally constantly felt nauseous.and with both I was utterly bone tire all the time, felt like I couldn't hardly move. I honestly don't even feel pregnant this time, I have lots of energy, I can eat pretty much whatever (red meat seems to be a little harder to digest for me right now, but doesn't make me sick to my stomach), and I don't have the wild sugar cravings that I've always had.
@@Cali_Flowers Thank you! It's really amazing to get to experience for the first time just the joyful parts of being pregnant (baby moving, thinking about what fruit their the same size as 😆, etc) and so far I've only had a couple days of being tired or morning sickness and now I'm starting the second trimester. Itt so awesome! I was so scared when I realized I was pregnant, cause I had just started trying to heal my body and get back to being healthy after having two in under two years and I was just terrified i wouldn't be able to do that since I was pregnant again, but I just decided to continue as long as it felt ok, and that if I started feeling hungrier or tired all the time I would go ahead and back off, and so far that hasn't happened! And now I'm just "overweight" which is definitely an improvement from obese.
@@sorelyanlie2784 that's so inspiring! I've never been able to actually enjoy my pregnancies so to speak, so I can totally see where you're coming from!! Enjoy and blessings!
I just love the way Dr. Tae praises the quality of your questions. The pacing of her speech is so pleasant to listen to. As a type 2 diabetic I really appreciate how Dr. Tae has explained the hormones like insulin. Thanks so much for this comprehensive interview. This discussion has given me hope of starting to manage my weight problem in a manner that won't feel like deprivation.
Such a great interview... so informative.. I do the 16:8 and it has worked wonders for me. I've been doing it since Jan 2021 and I have lost around 12-14 lbs. I do not eat any sweets on a regular basis and I've cut my carb intake down (I was a huge PASTA eater) I still eat sweets here and there on a night out , special occasion or family gathering.... and I will have pasta 2x a month... but just that change and the feeling of not being deprived has helped me enormously and actually made the fasting easier to manage... ... I feel amazing and my GERD symptoms have cleared up considerably ... so much so that my dr has me taking my meds every 2 days instead of every day.... I haven't reached my goal weight yet (5 more lbs to go) but I"m hoping that when I do, I might be off the Gerd meds for good :) Thanks again for this great video. xo
Jennifer!! WOOOWWWW!!!!!! I can't tell you how much this interview helped me and how much I appreciate it!!! What a wonderful doctor and your questions were absolutely perfect!!! Thank you!!
Really enjoyed your video. One thing that is often overlooked is people often are not getting enough sleep. I have really been working on that. Since I have been trying to improve my sleep, I started losing weight after a plateau.
Hi Jennifer! I am so glad that you did this interview. Thank you to Dr. Tae for her time. I started intermittent fasting last year in August after you mentioned it. It has been almost a year and I have lost 16 lbs! I am so happy and will continue with it! Thank you!
Our family, too, has always eaten dinner at 5:00. Always! Like you, we'll let our children have a snack, usually a piece of fruit later in the evening, but I find that they rarely ask for it if we've eaten a hearty, nutritious dinner. Fantastic interview. Thank you!
What a Beautiful interview !!! Beautiful interviewer and a Beautiful guest !!! so Beauty all round. Answered all questions I had wrt IF. Thanks for sharing this video. We appreciate it. Love and Gratitude from India.
Thank you for the information! I've been intermittent fasting for a few months. It's been great! I have a coffee with 1tbs cream around 8-8:30 after getting the kids off to school. Then eat my first meal around 10-12 depending on my schedule. If I eat at 10 I might have another small meal. If I eat at 12 I'm not hungry until 4 or 5. I try to start my fast between 5 and 6pm. I just think it's important to be flexible and listen to your body. I also find walking with IF is a great combo for stress relief and weight loss.
Hi Jennifer, Thanks you for sharing this wisdom on your channel. Our 24/7 food access is not healthy for anyone; the standard American diet is truly SAD. Let’s get back to common sense and real foods throughout each day. All the best, Julie 🌷
She's lovely! I wonder whether she'd agree to come back again and tell us more about obesity/weight loss research and success. Most of the data she mentioned was totally new to me and I'd love to hear more.
I love all your videos Jennifer but Dr Tae really was a gem. Would love to see her again! It really is all about common sense, balance and moderation. I've been doing IF for about 4 years but, I'm in my mid 50s and, tbh it was how I was brought up - we never grazed throughout the day, and never ate after dinner - once you readjust to "normal eating" you are there ! ... Thank you both wonderful ladies and looking forward to all your future videos !! xx
Dr. Tae - you were fabulous! A lovely personification of class and poise. So down-to-earth. I absolutely learned a couple of new things! Most importantly, that success is more likely the earlier in the day your eating window is and how to calculate the next day's hours if you have a special meal outside of your window! Thank you both so much!
Thank you Jennifer for this absolutely amazing and inspiring interview with Dr. Patty Tae. I can listen for hours on this topic. This information has been extremely helpful. Looking forward to more of these interviews.
Hello there Jennifer! Wow, what a fabulous interview with the lovely Dr. Tae. I’ve learned so much and I am extremely excited on my new IF journey. Thank you for all your beautiful programs and books...I know you put a lot of heart and soul into everything you do. Huge love and blessings from The Isle Of Wight, UK 🇬🇧 💗🥰👋🏻
I enjoy this channel so much. I’m on my second day of IF, and it’s so easy. Even after the first day I felt so much better about myself because I was under control. I only have to lose about 25 pounds. I’m going to stick with this reasonable program the rest of my life.
Thank you, Jennifer! I loved this interview! So many wonderful words of wisdom! I started IF about 3 months ago, after watching your video on intermittent fasting. I am also doing the 16\8. I am not depriving myself from any particular foods, but I wait for my meals and no 2nd portions. I am down 14 lbs. and have so much more energy. I am loving it!
This was such a fantastic interview! I started IF a week ago today and what I've immediately noticed is that my energy level has improved dramatically. I'm also feeling much less achy. For those reasons alone I want to continue! And if I lose weight too, then it will be a win-win-win situation for me!! Thank you so much for introducing me to this way of eating Jennifer! ❤️
Thank you so much for this interview! I love that Dr. Tae is an expert in the research plus has clinical experience in this area. This answered questions and clarified confusions I had about IF.
Thank you, Jennifer, and Dr.Tae, for an amazing interview regarding IF. As a 51 year old menopausal woman who has always been in the overweight category, never obese, I wish I had been exposed to this life changing information. As a homeschool mom of four kiddos ages 6-12, I need a plan that works well for this season of life and one that nourishes my family as well…and one that helps instill eating discipline into all or our lives while still enjoying life and special events. The research based tips that Dr. Tae shared, ie., spacing meals 4.5-5 hours apart and fasting for 16 hours to help decrease insulin resistance are newly found for me. I’m beginning the implementation of these principles today and looking forward to success. Thank you again!!
Great interview, I’ve only watched 10 minutes so far but I’d just like to comment that I disagree about alternate day fasting being extreme. I’ve done it for almost 2 years now, and know lots of people who have done it successfully long term. I do 4:3, so fast MWF average 38-41 hrs. I do flex my schedule and do a daily window when the occasion calls for it. The funny thing is, ADF isn’t always more fasting when you look at it on a weekly basis. When you look at my total fasted hours per week and average it over 7 days, it is only between 18-19 hrs daily. I absolutely love ADF, and find it an extremely helpful tool for healing and lowering insulin. And also, my relationship with food is SO much better than it’s ever been. It doesn’t work for everyone, but it can be an amazing answer for many people. So I wanted to share that, in case it helps…also Dr. Fung puts his type 2 diabetic patients on an ADF schedule, and they tend to go off meds in a matter of weeks. 😊
Thanks Dr. Tae and Jennifer! I’ve lost 8 lbs. in one month with IF. I’m training for the Honolulu Marathon and I am currently working with my personal trainer and so on the days, I’m strength training, I break my IF three hours before 9:00 am, to have some sustenance before lifting weights.
I'm so glad that Dr. Tae mentioned that IF is not appropriate for people who have a history of disordered eating. Thank you for mentioning this important point. I am trying IF in conjunction with Weight Watchers. We shall see!
I had severe eating disorders in the past, but IF is great for me. Counting calories is far worse psychologically, because you have to spend so much time fussing over food and usually feel hungry all the time. With IF you don't have to think about it much and get to eat your fill, so I feel it is actually much healthier.
Thank you for bringing IF to my attention! I talked to my doctor about it if it was an option for me to get my prediabetic range fasting glucose down and he gave me the green light. My fasting glucose has been in normal range since starting! Thanks again for even getting me into it. You have made a real health impact on my life.
Dr Yae seemed delightful! I loved this interview and learning more about IF from her perspective. I have been doing IF since November and really love it too. I can’t imagine ever going back to eating how I used to.
I started IF 90 days ago (through Christmas and a vacation), and have lost 21#.........I love this lifestyle and it's much easier and more convenient to eat in a short window during the day (4 day eating window). I sleep better, feel better and the weight is dropping by about .25-.5# per day. I'm 59 yrs old and have four children. I love this lifestyle and see doing this as a way of life. The benefits of autophagy is a win win!
What a fantastic and empowering video, Jennifer and Dr. Tae! Every question and response in this interview addresses so many key areas of Intermittent Fasting. Thank you both for highlighting how finding the right eating routine can pay you in healthy dividends. I look forward to sharing this video with loved ones!
I started IF in Feb. 2021, I weighed 174, I am post menopause age 71, retired. I weigh 155 now. I do 16, 18, 20 fast. I have done two OMAD. My glucose is great. The one thing I am trying to do is lower cholesterol and trigylcerides. I have Fatty Liver and want to reverse it. I watch Dr. Jason Fung. He is fabulous. Appreciated this great interview.
This is go great and helpful. I have been doing a 8a.m.-3:00p.m. eating window and am finding that so helpful for my sleep when I go to bed around 10p.m. So happy to hear that the morning window is better calorie wise as the Dr. mentioned than the afternoon hours with the same calories. Thank you both so much for sharing this!
Thank you so much for this chat! Our family actually eats on the same schedule as you, Jennifer. My husband works at 3 AM so we eat early and go to bed early, and it's much better for our family's health.
I began IF in 2019 as a mental discipline exercise and lost 30 in about 8 months and have kept it off. I’m now holding steady at my pre-college weight and feel great.
I eat quite restricted due to Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. I am 95% meat based and IF works quite well with my eating routine as well. Excellent and much appreciated information! Thank you.
I have Hashimotos as well and what I like about IF is that there is a long time in the morning for the thyroid medicine to go to work with no interference! I eat a whole food plant based low fat diet though.
Kids and juice! At home our kids drink water. Milk is an option at meals but we save juice/soda for special occasions like birthday parties. The difficulty is at school and grandparents homes. We finally had to tell both to STOP giving our youngest juice bc the extra sugar upsets his stomach. Our parents seem to think we are depriving our kids by not stocking the house with juice or snacks like granola bars or crackers. I am just getting started with IF and have explained to my kids that they are still growing. IF is not for kids. But I was really encouraged to hear that I am not alone in telling my kids to only put water in their water bottles. The more I learn about IF, the better I feel about their "snack" cabinet being stocked with a loaf of bread, peanut butter, cans of tuna and a bin of oatmeal. There are always leftovers they can reheat or fruit they can grab. I feel like it cuts out mindless snacking bc. If they are truly hungry, they will take the time to make something or they will just wait for dinner.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful interview. There were many gems and lots of questions I had were answered. If I think back to my younger years, that is how I ate, but somehow in my early 20's it changed. I have started this journey this past Monday and so far it has been a bit difficult, but not impossible. I don't have much weight to lose, but I need to get down a reasonable amount to where I believe I would feel best, less bloated, and have more energy for my lifestyle and with two children.
Thanks for sharing this interview. It was interesting to get Dr. Tae's perspective as a medical professional. I was especially intrigued by the discussion about the best time to fast. I started with an earlier period of fasting but then tried skipping breakfast and starting my fasting period at lunch. I did that for about two weeks, but my energy levels were lower, and I didn't feel as well. I switched back to the earlier time (8A-4P) last week.
Hi Jennifer, just finished watching this video. I loved so much of it. I shared reminders to my bff as I watched on Polo. One thing I just wanted to let you know is about keto. I've done keto for years. Originally I was in ketosis for 2 yrs. Felt amazing but I got pregnant and carbs were all I could eat. Back on keto now after 2nd baby. MY POINT is to tell you that actually IF is super easy when in ketosis. Keto surpresses appetite so saying no to eating is really easy. In reality, it would be easier for me to eat keto and then do IF before going back to a carb diet. Love you and your channel 💞
This was great! So helpful I want to watch again and take notes. I’ve lost 25 lbs over the last year 1/2, not consciously doing IF but I did mostly what the principals are. Now I want to tighten up my schedule to lose a little more. It’s worked for me. I’m 53 and had been trying to “do keto” for 3 years and I just couldn’t get results from it.
I really enjoyed this video. Both of you are extremely knowledgeable. Although I had a lot of takeaways something that stood out to me that she mentioned is that she was suprised that you got down to your HS or college weight and it’s almost impossible but from so much research many people have lost over 50 pounds. So I believe that it is possible. Training your body to eat at a certain time, nourishing it with Whole Foods, working out and drinking plenty of water and getting rest will make you drop a lot.
This is super, just what I needed at just the right time! Jennifer, your questions and Dr. Tate’s answers were outstanding, really the best I’ve seen - for my particular purposes. I especially love Dr. Tae’s description of IF as a “mental discipline.” I’ll be doing the 16-8 IF with you and this lovely community.
This is so great!! So much clarifying information!! Dr. Tae you are so beautiful! This also explains why my teen boys don't sleep well at night. Thank you, Jennifer and Dr. Tae
Isn’t Dr Tae just a wonderful example of our Daily Connoisseur community- so poised, radiating kindness and grace and so elegant. Thank you so much for this very informative interview. Can we have her on again?!
I couldn't agree more!
Very inspiring that she is part of our community. She seemed like she was so poised being on camera. Wonderful.
@@TheDailyConnoisseur Hi Jennifer, do you know if it is OK to lift weights while fasting?
I do however feel really good overall, great energy and sleep.
Yes I started timing my hunger waves. About every 45 minutes to an hour if I wasn’t busy at the time. I learned to ignore them.
Great suggestions! Sometimes doing a small thing at a time and getting it consistent is more helpful for long term success.
I am enjoying your program
I agree with you, Al. I have been doing the same thing with slow and consistent success. ☺️
All kinds of gems in this interview Jennifer thank you🌷😊💕
Thank you!
Yes, your greatgrand parents and grandparents ate based on the sun hours. They got up early and finished their day early thus getting plenty of sleep which keeps weight off too.
@@letitiahansford307 no need for mental discipline in their society, without all the crap food options being mainstream and ubiquitous
Any advice on night shifters
Very good point! 😄
I needed to hear this, because me on my first day….3 sandwiches, potatoe salad, chocolate chip cookie bars..
I think this is me.
This is super helpful! Thank you for posting this! I’m a momma of babies too 😊
Thats awesome; how are you eating now that they're toddlers?
please keep these intermittent fasting videos coming - you are so inspiring.
Have you lost any weight?
This is packed full of information. Need to rewatch with a notepad.
I think having your largest meal around mid-day is one of the most powerful tools of all. It was so affirming to hear that an earlier eating window results in more weight loss. It’s just intuitive. Thanks to both of you!
Thank you for watching, Cherie!
I agree! Big lunch, small dinner.. perfect ❤
We eat dinner at 5pm as well. You see my husband gets home at 5 so I like to have him a meal ready. He works hard all day to provide for his family and I don't take that lightly. 💕
Something inside of me naturally understands this concept. I think it's beautiful and it's the way it ought be💕😊
Smart wife!!
Marriage is a business.
Same here!
Well mine gets home 830. Same feeling about eating w him. Not easy...
Congrats thats wonderful!
I'm so happy for you!
Wow! Congrats! How long do you fast every day? Do you eat breakfast? Ty.
Out of ALL the IF videos I’ve watched this was the most informative and encouraging video I’ve encountered. Well done ladies!
Dr Tae was wonderful! It was such an informative interview, can you invite her on again? X
I really enjoyed this. She is an informed and pleasing speaker. It’s one thing to hear someone’s experience but quite another to hear professional advice. I have used IF and it’s the only thing that has worked on my post menopausal body.
Hi. How long have you been doing IF? Which plan do you use , 16/-8? Thanks!
Do u usually have difficult pregnancies? Very nauseous?
Congratulations on multiple levels, Sorel! That is wonderful that you are feeling so good!
@@Cali_Flowers
Thank you!

I haven't reached my goal weight yet (5 more lbs to go) but I"m hoping that when I do, I might be off the Gerd meds for good :) Thanks again for this great video. xo
Hahaha! I remember sleep training with my babies, especially the twins. Oh my goodness. To sleep between 11 PM and 5 AM straight was heaven.
Agree!
Good advice!
I love this! I’ve dabbled in IF for a few weeks but haven’t 100% committed. This video makes me to go all in!
The breakfast chat @17:00 is exactly what has been on my mind. So glad you covered that!
Thank you. IF is a great and flexible life plan. Non caloric drinks are the simplest change. Glad you brought it into the conversation.
Hi Jennifer!
I am so glad that you did this interview. Thank you to Dr. Tae for her time. I started intermittent fasting last year in August after you mentioned it. It has been almost a year and I have lost 16 lbs! I am so happy and will continue with it! Thank you!
Thank you Jennifer for bringing Dr. Tae on your channel!
Our family, too, has always eaten dinner at 5:00. Always! Like you, we'll let our children have a snack, usually a piece of fruit later in the evening, but I find that they rarely ask for it if we've eaten a hearty, nutritious dinner. Fantastic interview. Thank you!
BIG thank you to Dr. Tae & of course thank you Jennifer - as usual such quality & value you bring to the world....
What a Beautiful interview !!! Beautiful interviewer and a Beautiful guest !!! so Beauty all round. Answered all questions I had wrt IF. Thanks for sharing this video. We appreciate it. Love and Gratitude from India.
Love this ❤ I started IF and feeling great, my husband has lost over 30 pounds in the last 3 years and has kept it off. He feels great ❤
This was very helpful. Especially not having to follow a special diet.
Dr Tae is brilliant and so contentious in her speech. I LOVED this video!! Thank you! Answered so many of my IF questions
Thank you Jennifer and Dr. Tae. This was so great. 😊
Thank you, Jennifer and Dr. Tae! I appreciate the time you took to film and share your wisdom with us.

Amazing, Wendy!
@@TheDailyConnoisseur Thanks, Jennifer!
I so enjoyed this Jennifer! Dr. Tae is delightful & informative!!
Thank you so much for this interview! I love that Dr. Tae is an expert in the research plus has clinical experience in this area. This answered questions and clarified confusions I had about IF.
Wow Jennifer! Best video ever!
I love learning about this topic! This video is such a wealth of information.
Great to have science informed conversation on the channel. Interesting interview with a lovely Dr. thanks
Thank you for your comment. What did you start doing exactly as far as fasting and eating?
Dr Yae seemed delightful! I loved this interview and learning more about IF from her perspective. I have been doing IF since November and really love it too. I can’t imagine ever going back to eating how I used to.
Such a lovely, uplifting interview, thank you!
Thank you, Theresa!

Yes, if I eat breakfast I end up eating too much. I'm not hungry at breakfast so I just have a vitamin drink or coffee.
Brilliant interview…looking forward to a follow up with Dr Tea!
That’s wonderful! What time interval do you use, if I may ask?
Loved this video. Dr. Tae is terrific thank you for doing it.
Thank you for all of this amazing information!!! The Dr. Was wonderful and you are always an inspiration
Dr. Tae is absolutely adorable..thank you for bringing her
💐 Thank you Jennifer, for this insightful video on IMF. Many thanks to Dr. Patty Tae for visiting this community. I’m grateful for the information. 🥰
Fabulous interview! This answered all of my IF questions and then some. Dr. Tae is so chic!
This was so good!!!
This is such great information, my second time watching! Hoping to get my husband and 17 yo old to watch.
Loved this interview! Practical and non- extreme.
This is so great!! So much clarifying information!! Dr. Tae you are so beautiful! This also explains why my teen boys don't sleep well at night. Thank you, Jennifer and Dr. Tae
