Kung Fu Panda's SUPERNATURAL Villains...

- Is anyone else feeling a bit turned off by the increasingly supernatural villains in the Kung Fu Panda Franchise? I'm not a fan of how all the new bad guys seem to have these over-the-top magic/Chi powers. I mean, Kai had an army of jade zombies, and now the Chameleon is some sorceress who can suck out people's Chi? Remember when Tai Lung was just a skilled kung-fu fighter, or Lord Shen was a swordsman with an army? Those were fantastic villains with epic fight scenes. Now it feels like every new villain is gearing up for a Dragon Ball Z lightshow. And seeing Chameleon shapeshift into Po? Ugh, I'm not excited about a cliché training montage where he has to reclaim his "kung-fu" skills. The directors boasting about Chameleon being the "most supernatural villain" just makes me groan. In my opinion, it shows they've lost touch with what made Kung Fu Panda and Kung Fu Panda 2 so great.
#shorts #kungfupanda4 #didyouknow #moviefacts #moviedetails #kungfupanda
So we just gonna ignore Oogway disappearing like a “supernatural” being in the 1st movie?
That had no impact on the fight scenes tho
His point is that the fighting is now based on chi and shit instead of actual fighting scenes
There was a lot supernatural things in 1 and 2 movie, yet it was not the main thing. Just elements making the whole world more mysterious. But adding common fantasy magic is boring

Oh no, he's got way more
Well in chinese folk culture martial arts and magic go hand & hand. Personally I think it fits well
Honestly and it's not like they didn't have magic in the first movie either they just keep leaning further into it which I like also
Yeah, plus there’s the whole thing of power scaling. I mean, there was a *little* magic in the first two movies, and then it got more prominent in the third one because *Po* got stronger. He keeps getting stronger, so obviously the villains have to get stronger, too.
I think it’s just the lazy writing in KFP 4
@@sakaiclips nah, I don't think so
@@sakaiclipsBro said lazy writing to a common genre to the setting lmao.
Kai I'd say is forgiveable. When he's not using the jade zombies he's still very capable of holding his own.
He was barely holding his own with the jade zombies tbh
Chameleon would also be very capable at kung fu, if she bothered to try and fully train herself and not give up
He did have to beat all those masters to do yeah he could hold his own and with Kai it made sense more then the 4th movie anyway
No?@@anonymous665
@@anonymous665The theory is that when he sends out the Jombies it weakens him. Which is supported by the fact that he waited to call back all the Jombies back before he fought Po. Chameleon however was a shit villain.

Po literally got rid off Thai Lung in the first movie via some *supernatural teleportation technique*
That was before the third movie, and it was more like he literally *exploded* kai from what is shown in the first movie

So we just gonna ignore the point of the video?
Yes
What are you talking about about "every new villain"? The first two movies had regular fighters, movie 3 had a ghost, and movie 4 had a chi sucking mortal.

True, except in the forth film, it never gives us an explanation as to why the chameleon has this power. They gave us an explanation for Kai, but for this film it felt very rushed.

Kung Fu Panda 3: *Am I a joke to you*
Kai's plot was well done to give clossure to Po's dragon warrior's path, this 4th movie is a cashgrab
Remember, when master Oogway turned into flower petals
soin reality you want oogway drop dead on the tree due to old age and shifu standing there holding the stick? not so much for a kids movie.
"All the new villains are so supernatural" a.k.a two villains
General Kai: My Chi control makes me the ultimate warrior of Vengeance!
Tai Lung: Back in my day we didn’t need all that fancy Chi power, just our Kung Fu.
Lord Shen: Silence old man, who needs chi or kung fu when you have cannons!
The Chameleon: What’s a little gun powder compared to my all mighty sorcery!
Po: 😮💨 What’s next, a talking fish that wants to flood the valley or a Zebra making everything look black & white by removing colour.
The villain wasn't that bad, she reminds me of Shang Tsung from Mortal Kombat who takes other fighter's souls and uses them for his own ends.
I was getting vibes from Space Jam 1 where the aliens steal the talent skills from the NBA basketball players and turning themselves into beasts.
Kai was a great villain it’s not abt their powers it’s abt how u execute the characters.
Tbf The Wuxi Finger Hold and Oogway ascending were part of the first movie so Kung Fu Panda always had super natural themes so to speak.
The chameleon pulled a scar king, so underrated and absolutely got whooped
It's probably a wuxia/xianxia thing
Kai was stuck in the spirit world for so long, he's flexing his skills
Tai lung used that glowey move on the nerve and oogway legit dissapeared in the first movie.
Second movie po learned to caych fire
4th movie is about sorcery
3rd movie is about absorbing the power.
2nd movie is an over abundance of power.
1st is being corrupt
Idk why I typed this I just wanted too lol
Don’t forget the tv show series some the villain were from tv show series too the snake .
I'd also like to point out that the Chameleon being a villain is actual bs. She said that the masters rejected her because she was too small. And near the start of the movie Po says somethimg about Master Chipmunk's Warhammer. Meaning that there was an INCREDIBLY small master. So the reason she's a villain is actual bs.
I mean I'd definitely say there's a lot of skill to be had with a shapeshifter in combat.
Still depends how it's handled though
I always love it when the villain has the same powerful as the hero, makes the rivalry more balanced
No the biggest fan of the chameleon but Kai was a decent blend of the supernatural and kungfu
Kungfu panda has always had some aspect of supernatural or mystical forces to it, be it through Oogway vanishing with the petals of a peach tree, the wushi finger hold transporting the mortal target to the spirit world or Poe using inner piece to catch and deflect Shen’s cannon fire
The increased emphasis on the supernatural is the progression of each movie threat becoming greater than the last, like how the fast and furious movies went from racing and petty crime to heists, to spy movies, to superhero movies with cars
The films couldn’t just be a better kungfu fighter or a greater army or weapon than the last or the story would just get repetitive, adding elements of the supernatural based of folklore gives the story more freedom to branch into more unique threats
Kai had 10/10 fighting choreography even without the supernatural stuff
In the words of Maxor
"There is no bs in this fight. It is just you, [your opponent] and the soil"
Bro talking about how people r supernatural now
Po in KFP2 turning into a ball of light
Lord Shen was also an expert engineer

I agree but to be HONEST, they wanted female villain and it is impossible to make female villain stronger than Tai Lung or smarter than Lord Shen without making her super unnatural.

@@clplayzxz10101 not true? Can you further elaborate on that statement. They wanted female villain so it can feel refreshing, I agree we need some DangerTits as villain in KFP. But Lord Shen was just too smart and I dont see any villain regardless of gender comming as better in such a category with his huge impact. Tai Lung was the absolute unit in physical combat, he had huge muscular strength and great technique and speed. He even defeated Shi Fu after he single handly defeated Furious 5 in 5v1. I dont see anyone getting over Kung Fu master lvl without mystical shit.

Nah the 3rd movie was horrible and I'm glad we're getting a 4th movie and it looks way better than the 3rd movie. Jack Black also said that we'll be getting a 5th and 6th movie
Nah KFP3 was about Po becoming a Teacher and now that he has achieved that goal, its time for Po to find himself. Just as Shifu said "I'm trying to turn you into You". Po isn't The Dragon Warrior like hes been trying to define himself as. The Dragon Warrior is just You. You are YOU! Po is Lotus! Lotus is Po! Po is PO!!!
Also having the Furious Five out of commition for Pandas with 0 fighting experience take the stage saving everyone aint a good way to end off the franchise.
Also we dont know enough about Pos mother. For all we know shes a Chi Prodigy who married into Lis family tree and Breeded Po into the world inheriting both their qualities.
She does seem brightest of the Panda bunch by the way Li described her "SMART, Beautiful and Tremendous Apetite". She handled Baby Pos prolonging well by hiding him in a vegie crate eluding Shen and the Wolves from him. Theres no official confirmation Shen watched her die, she couldve drowned or fallen off a cliff and Shen just crosses her off as dead like he crossed off Po after firing at him point blank without verifying his assumed dead body. I think one of the last two sequels will focus around Pos mother and the Chi Panda heritage.
@@SiNKarnage We will be having a total of 6 movies
I didn't spend 9 dollars at the cinema to just hear people complain because the characters are supernatural, Goddamnit it's an animated movie about talking animals that know kung fu
Basically (in a way) it sounds like you just dont want a female villain if thats the case then goodbye 😂 cuz sometimes female villains can be stronger and more powerful than males, thats just my opinion
How did you derive he doesn’t want a female villain in the role of kung fu panda when he was specifically talking about the direction they’re going in for each big bad being more and more supernatural now while I disagree with the idea of villains being less and less supernatural given that we’re way past that point and they had a whole series of kung fu panda focused on both martial artist and Chi users. I don’t think his argument was solely based on having a female Villain

A full on sorceress feels like the next step after Kai.
Only she's way weaker
Admittedly, I agree… one of the reasons I’m a fan of the second movie is because the villain uses industrial as well as psychological warfare, both of which are more rooted into reality and makes for a more terrifying and believable character.
Even though Kai is using a form of magic, the way he gained abilities actually makes sense and he isn’t some sloppy villain who can’t fight without powers he still would kick ass he was the supreme warlord of China who fought alongside Oogway
His fight with Shifu, Tigress, Monkey and Viper was awesome
He didn't even use that much supernatural power when he himself fought, and he was still awesome
@@CrimsonAzure-fh6yb exactly a prime example of what I was talking about

Well for the record they didn't lose touch + the movie was good, it was only 2 villains, not a lot. Plus the movie didn't have a training arc, it was just more of a journey
At least Kai had a actual reason for his powers being that he was back from the other side and absorbed other peoples life energy and controls it in any way he wants.
"Tai Lung was just a skilled Kung Fu fighter*
-Casually one taps Monkey by messing with his Chi
-Casually survives a fall that even skilled Kung Fu fighters would die from
-Casually _lights his hands on fire_
I agree with the main point but dont you dare diss Kai
If we were following the theory of the Kung-fu panda storyline being related to the Chinese trifecta of "Body, mind, soul" then its Perfectly natural that Kai is UNNATURAL as he embodies the Struggle of Spirituality
He is a spirit warrior, a Man who fell but was not content on staying down
Chi was already a part of the Kung-fu panda universe, Oogway temporarily Paralyzing Tai-Lung and disappearing into the Spirit realm, Po finding inner peace with his trauma and deflecting cannon balls etc etc, it was just never shown to be Flashy until Kai came along and EXPANDED upon the concept of Chi
Kai had a story too
The greatest warlord in China along with Oogway, but suffering a massive ambush where he lost all of his brothers and comrades
He carried a wounded Oogway for days in a snowstorm until he found the pandas and learned of chi
But whilst Oogway learned from the experience that war is futile, Kai learned that if he was stronger he would've never lost his men. Oogway chose to give chi, Kai chose to take it, and brother fought brother
Eventually Kai lost everything, his legacy was erased by Oogway. Look at "Oogway's" Jade Palace despite it being named for the Jade Slayer, Kai
All Kai had at the end was revenge against the man he loved like a brother, who in his eyes betrayed him
How tf do people ignore this and say "Kai had no story"
Did you just say, "Did anybody"?? No not anybody, EVERYBODY!!!
Po rizzed himself with his reflection 😭
It does look like he's rizzing himself 🧐
I think this guy keeps forgetting that Shen invented gunpowder in every video he's talked about him.
Every video (that I've seen), all he praises Shen with, is his sword skills and army.
I mean seriously, are we just gonna forget that it's his cannon that killed master Rhino and ALMOST killed Po?
Chameleon had some type of demon in her, no like just look at some of her scenes
Kai has some fire music. Also, since ever character has a background with a character ( Kai being with tortoise guy, bird being with po and tiger guy being with old red panda thing ) I feel like the chameleon will have a background with either snake or mantis, it’s obviously not bird, chameleons eat insects, so that links with mantis, and that snakes and chameleons are lizards.
“Remember when Po beat tai lung with the wushi finger hold?” This guy doesn’t
I think they’re trying to make every new villain stronger than the last
We gonna ignore the Wuxi finger hold?
The entire movie series is about talking animals
Characters having supernatural powers is par for the course in Chinese mythology and old Chinese stories/folklore. I used to watch a lot of shows or TV dramas on the telly that contained characters with supernatural powers throughout the years since the 90’s. Take TVB’s rendition of Journey To The West which stars the monkey king for instance. Journey To The West is very popular back in the 90’s.
Someone take this man’s mic, he forgot all the mystical things that happened in the first movie.
Chameleon is Kai on steroids 😂
This guy was cooking with the most perfect ingredients and still manage to fuck it up
Tai Lung: real warrior type shi
Shen: *gun*
Kai: back from the dead?
Chameleon: suck my soul out????!!! 💀
Chameleon is literally just Kai but with shapeshifting abilites.
I’m personally a really big fan of calling Kai “The Greenifier” 💀
I loved Shen for his resourcefulness and the weapons he made, and liked Kai for the formidable force he was with and without his magic but enemies like Tai Lung can't be beat. His physical prowess, his skill that allowed him to defeat all of the furious five, the technique he utilized against Shifu and his backstory are all so well put together. I understand the direction they went in but I miss villains like Tai Lung and Shen whose power was in their skill and strategic skill instead of just raw magical ability.
I mean the kung fu in the movie has always been their own definition and version of it
In the movies then sure but there was one show and game where he literally faught a dragon.
Dude, not only does it make sense with the setting and culture, but lots of the villains and heroes are exaggeratingly strong in Kung Fu Panda, and even if they're martial arts masters they're extremely powerful to an insane degree
Did you forgot the chameleons species?
She is what her name says, a Chameleos, and just like she says in the movie "all i do is change", itsvjust what chameleons do man
I don't agree with what he's saying but I don't agree with you either bro
Chameleons do not change their entire body lol, just the shades of their scales
I just like the fighting scenes, they Are no doubt one of the best parts of the franchise
Kai was basically taking the life force from people but the chameleon is just a poor excuse for a villain
I don't mind some mystical powers, I actually found Kai really cool. Plus stuff like the Wuxi Fingerhold isn't exactly traditional Kung Fu, nor is paralyzing someone with a single strike (or that time Oogway three tapped Tai Lung into unconsciousness). The issue comes with execution, and I feel Chameleon was executed poorly. And lacks the depth of the other three villains. And also relies much more on hax. She literally has no skills of her own, she had to steal them. Kai at least had Jade Blades and Kung Fu ability. Her whole story is not having Kung Fu but wanting it.
Well chameleon is cool villain is because she can turn everyone 👍☺️:D
her motivation is "too short to learn kung fu" but what about Mantis or Monkey or Viper
@@CrimsonAzure-fh6yb yeah 👍😉☺️:D
Did you forget about how oogway defeat tai lung? Yes, magic. Did you forget about how po defeat tai lung? Yes, magic.
Chameleon's power should have been about illusions since she can integrate that for her fighting style.
I mean look at Shen. He used his feathers as a weapon concealer, as a shield, and as a way to distract his opponents.
