    Man, im US vehicle bias bc im a former 19K abrams oif vet, but i gotta say, the Russians missed it by putting that cone jutting out the nose of the ka-50 if there were a different place to mount that bit of electronics they should have doneit. If it followed the lines of the rest of the front end, it could have looked similar to a kiowa or a lynx… and not a mouse/rat like the mi-28 havoc aka mickey mouse. But i know, its not a beauty contest. They are pretty legit and dangerous helos not to be taken lightly especially as a tanker.

      The Ka-52 may be more to your liking. The 50 was too much for a single pilot so it has a side by side layout with a wider, more round nose that's closer to a traditional helicopter look that you'd expect.

    In NATO designations, a single syllable name is a propeller (rotor) aircraft, and the first letter is a type designation. Example, Hip is a rotorcraft "helicopter". Something like a "Fawn"(not real) would be a propeller driven fighter. Fishbed, Fulcrum, and Flanker are jet propelled fighters. Two syllable names are jet propelled. Although the code kind of falls apart with the Havoc, and Helix. 😂

      From my understanding It's just the first letter.. Bomber, Fighter, Helicopter

    Diggin the new mission types. I have yet to see ground Vic specialists. Or at least a channel focusing on ground vics. The combined arms mod for dcs, should be utilized.

    Actually there are no Mi-8 like that (I mean old modification with glass cockpit) in Russian Army aviation. And I didn’t see any Ka-50 in Ukraine, only Ka-52

      Me and my team was deployed to LZ by Mi-8. It was very noisy inside.That was back in 1993. It is a reliable work horse if well maintained. When it came back for us you could hear it from miles away.

    • @ph2738
      @ph2738 2 месяца назад +1

      @@jussihaila I was at a climbing camp in the Pamirs run by the Soviet Alpine Federation in 1984. The basecamp was around 11,000 ft. The MI-8 would fly supplies and personnel in and out. To take off, they had to ground roll on the nose wheel for nearly 1000 ft. The rotor was dangerously close to the ground during these ground rolls. That was as high as I saw them landing, but I saw them drop supplies at camp 3 at 20000. They were flying somewhat higher than the camp, didn’t land, just flew by and dumped supplies out. Only Eastern Bloc teams got supplies by air.

    I want to question the use of flares in a lot of these 'simulations,' not just from you, but GS and others using DCS. Surely, in this case when doing something like you are here, inserting special forces, stealth is going to be key. Instead, the use of flares shows your enemy where you are. I can understand if you have a warning, or if one of your team spot anti-air, but why advertise? Let them figure out from the sound of your aircraft where you are, keep 'em guessing. Love these videos from you and GS, especially your colaborations. Yeah, I know it's a game/sim. Shame about DCS crashing.

    • @subjectc7505
      @subjectc7505 Месяц назад

      Manpads and other systems that don't give warnings. They already know what's coming, flares are for defensive purposes..

    the armed forces of many post-Soviet countries fly these helicopters, so flying in bandit, Russian colors is a bit inappropriate, but apart from that, it's a nice video
