Joey was such a sincere and good soul. He was already a legend when he was alive and there is no doubt that in all his simplicity he was a musical genius. May your soul rest in peace and thank you for helping me to go through tough times.
A couple years ago I was going through possibly the hardest time of my 30s and I needed some self motivation. I'm going to meet someone that is going to make everything I went through worth it. Than I got forgot about it now listening to this and relating to his words. I think maybe I under valued all those that I have already meet. I hear him and I just see them as unloved. They are together and alone. You can be single and in crowd.
@A2Z83 I personally asked CJ Ramone and he told me he used to play with an accustic guitar he also said that the riff from "I don't care" was made by Joey himself.
Yeah, If you're interested in this history, read "I slept with Joey Ramone" by Mickey Leigh (Joey's Brother). Joey wrote "I dont care" and "here today gone tomorrow", which were the first two Ramones songs (even though they didn't appear till the 3rd album) on an acoustic that Mickey gave him. Joe played them for Johnny who liked them, and it went from there. The first thing Joey learned was "I'm 18" by Alice Cooper, which Mickey taught him. Later he wrote "Sheena" and many other classics. I think he only used two strings :)
Well, DEE DEE wrote most of the lyrics and played bass with a great sound, and Johnny wrote most of the music and had a signature sound, so I'd say they were just as important as Joey.... And you can't have Rock N Roll without a drummer so Tommy and Marky are RAMONES too.
i actually prefer this live version of Waiting for that railroad far more than the one on Ya Know. its so beautiful. joeys vocals. the backing vocals and instrumentals are perfect. the recording is the only downfall, but thats nobody's fault.
May, 19th. I remember you today on your birthday, Joey. Thanks for everything!! 💚 19 de Mayo. Te recuerdo hoy en tu cumpleaños, Joey. Gracias por todo!! 💚
Yeah he could play the guitar. He even wrote "I don't care" back then and it became one of the first Ramones songs. He just never played the guitar in the Ramones.
this guy is more punk than any punks out there, he had been himself all along... johnny rotten is nowhere near this guy. he put "PUNK" in his collar , rather he did what anybody could else do, inspire people with his burden on himself thinking he was an outcast.
Aaron Hilton i only know he used to be stoner so yeah, he smoked a lot of pot when he was young even dee dee himself says that johnny always had the best weed and also they used to sniff glue together then i don't know how Johnny got clean when he was still too young
Nice! Thanks for uploading! :D But what the hell is going out with the drowned guitars? Is the recording messed up or were the guitars messed up? I'm thinking it's the recording. Must be a better copy out there somewhere? Rest in peace, Joey.
I got used to imperfect recordings from years of scavenging for rarities. I can handle pretty terrible audio and dont mind it. But Im grateful for the one they put out on the album.
is that Vin Scelsa?
You are correct. Thank you. He talks about it here near the middle www.dropbox.com/s/jue9oyduj8d6lyq/id_04-12-12_thursday.mp3?dl=0
Scelsa became a die hard Ramones fan after writing them off when he first heard them. I miss Scelsa on the radio.
One of the greatest voices in the history of rock n roll. A true legend. RIP Joey.
The book "I Slept with Joey Ramone" is so good... some parts made me cry. 🥺🥹🥺🥹

The world is not as bright without Joey in it.
