This will sell at least 1M in the first year, but it’s really a publicly sold dev kit. It’s a precursor for the everyday glasses/visors with new battery chemistry for super fast charging. This had to be released now to get the apps started and general public awareness.
This seems so "Un-Apple".
This will not sell in 1M, since Apple only manufacturing 100.000 pieces, and yes mostly for developers, to let them make their apps ready for the later devices. This is why they are announced on the developers conference, developers can request a device for their app from the next month. So basically only the rest of the remain devices will be on sale in 2024 for the public.
So far no
It’s niche product, for it to be adopted by the masses, it would need to glasses or contact lenses and significantly cheaper!! Apples fan boys will still make it lucrative for the initial first launch.
I found it interesting that Tim did not wear the headset during the event.
It's because he's gay and the gays have fabulous fashion sense. He's not about to make himself look like an idiot just to sell a few extra units.
And this comes from the man who thought Disney was a good stock to buy. Time to load up on Apple shares.
This video will aged badly
I just had to laugh and shake my head listening to the ridiculous things he was saying. 😂 He has every right to his opinions, but I’ve never heard anything so shallow and absurd about tech products. I thought it was a comedy skit until I realized he was serious, which makes it even funnier! 😂 It was nice to start my day with a laugh! Thanks!
yes. it was like a stand-up performance 😂
poor thing, because it didn't fit into your own opinion?
Scott Galloway is a great comedian
It is so crazy to sell a prototype for this price.
Apple Vision Pro is the iPod. Apple Glass will be the iPhone.
If they can get them down to google size (like the Beyond) in the next couple of versions…I would say the Vision Pro will be the Macbook Pro you carry with you and the glasses will be the IPhone.
I would think the Vision Pro is the Mac and The Vision Phone will be the iPhone. It will not be called glass. Also I think we can expect a Regular Vision in two years, Vision Air in 4, and maybe Vision Phone in 6.
*Excellent* scepticism on this stuff. I remember google glass and segways. Do we imagine very many people wearing these things except in private? Are people supposed to go out and do stuff with this thing? He mentions 'sequestering' technology which is a new term for me but very well chosen. And when I personally think of wearing this thing I would be embarrassed because it would make me so 'different' in such a visible, ostentatious, way, like wearing a bikini to the supermarket or some big moose hat to a nice restaurant, People love their iPhones. Do people love their apple watches, I don't know but imagine less..Thanks for putting this out.
Also, how much appetite is there to continually learn new tech? I know the young have a real susceptibility and enthusiasm for learning settings and menus and connections and formats and cetera... But as the marginal change in what the new tech offers falls I wonder if our appetite to spend the time to learn to use the stuff also falls? I ask because I don't want to learn any of it even as I use most of it, the products expect more of me than I want to give to them.
You tap your fingers together to click the thing you’re looking at. Not really much of a learning curve
@@ethangilbert7305 some people don't like tapping or even swiping, believe it
1:43 "Can at some point we just admit that people don't want to put shit on their head?"
Says the man with shit on his head.
Spot on. VR has one mass market use only, Gaming period. AR on the other side can be an everyday product but it has to be light looks fashionable and allow open field of view. Kinda like the Xreal Air grasses. Vision Pro and any other apple product that looks similar will only be used within the professional space.
...And Apple struggles with gaming. Plus they actively don't support pornography which might be the other VR money maker, sadly.
Apple Vision Pro might fail, but Apple Vision Air 2 will be a great success 5-10 years from now.
Agreed. Simply put, the hardware we have available today simply isn't up to the task of creating a holo-deck like experience. The battery also needs an upgrade as this current headset gets less than 2 hours of life.
Couple of things to note:
1. This thing was announced at the developer conference for a reason. This first version is primarily with developers in mind to build up the Vision OS ecosystem.... from that perspective $3500 is just an investment and an incredible opportunity for AR/VR app creators.
2. The price will come down faster then people think and assuming this thing will most likely have mobile network connectivity (5g) I'd be willing to bet the mobile networks will offer the same type of payment plans it does for iphones, ipads, etc. that will make it appealing for consumers. Most people finance their devices now anyway so if it drops to $2500 within a year and with the expanded app offering that develops in that time it will absolutely become a mainstream device imo
Which device with a $2500 price tag has gone mainstream?
I can see the non pro version coming in around $2999 but I would bet the nominal price for both don’t go down much if at all. That’s just how apple has historically worked. After the huge initial stock price of the iPhone the $ has only gone up
Name one apple device where prices gone down. None. IPhone is much much expensive now than it initially cost. There is no reason for it to cost less.
And you really think developer will make apps for a small percentage of people? Why would you put money on something a few percentage of people are buying.
@@gabrielangel1996 Well since you asked. The original Macbook Air was a base price of $1799. Now you can get for like $899
When I hear Scott giving his opinion on Apple Vision Pro, I see parallels of Steve Ballmer giving his opinion on the first iPhone. If people haven't seen that clip, it's on RUclips and worth a watch. Hindsight is 20/20. So many of the arguments people have against Vision Pro oddly parallel arguments people had against iPhone.
Oh common! this is such anecdotal use case, To confirm your argument you will use one edge case.
Nobody remembers the homepod. It's a war between good enough but expensive and cheap but good
who gonna eat me from my side, whats he talkin about?
Your girlfriend :)
The title has a mistake. ( Markets)
You Sir are COMMON SENSE personified!!
I dont want a computer on my face.
I think they’re anchoring disappointment into the price rather than other flaws.
He is over thinking this thing.
We are talking emotional response here.
If that was meant for a videogame or an extension for a different type of movie immersion on Apple TV devices, it would make more sense (if it was $2k cheaper, though)
Young men coming to ER with seizures
I think it's grow slow to be a serious success by version 3. But you could be right, this is uncharted territory. Eyeglasses must have looked pretty damn strange when people first saw them in the 1200's.
Disagree!
You keep saying people don’t want to do it, not fashionable, etc. Well, you won’t wear it and go around. VR is a device for personal space.
It’s like saying you go blind when you put blanket on your face at night. Hence no blankets!
Strange how out of touch prof g seems, commenting on a tech heavy podcast
Because it’s 3500$
Considering the techonolgy inside it, not that much. This is a 4K capable display not 1080p like the others have. This has built in spatial audio instead of simple stereo (so built-in 7.1 sound system), and also their GPU is capable for the same performance like an RTX 3060, which none of the competitors can reach with integrated GPU. So if you need a good laptop with dedicated GPU and a 7.1 sound system too for the other headsets, that raise the price for them too, and also harder to mobilize them, all of this built-in here, so this is a standalone device where you are capable to watch the Avatar 3D movie in 4K with 7.1 sound system without any other device requirements.
Nobody asked for any of all that. Nobody wants their vision blocked for more than 10min
If anyone can afford that , it’s Apple sheep. After all, don’t they make fun of Android users for being poor even tho Samsungs are just as if not more expensive than iPhones lol
I’ve been saying it a lot since they announced this and even before. This product and Apple glass will be two different cousin devices. Neither will replace your iPhone. The two things I see a lot of tech people obsessed with is something you wear all the time and an iPhone replacement. What they showed off will never be just a pair of glasses. Apple glass will basically be google glass as a pair of normal glasses that show you basic info and directions. That’s it. It will not replace your phone, tablet, computer, nothing! As a matter of fact, it may use your phone to offload major task. The AVP will be the at home spacial computer, that offers that immersive experience. We will hear about aliens are real before we see all that tech in a pair of glasses and not tied to a computer!
You're literally wearing a device on your head that faced the same pushback - originally seen as bulky, antisocial, and a 'violation of basic anthropology.'
Has this dude ever been optimistic on any new tech... Ever?
I do have a feeling Scott Galloway is right on XR not hitting mainstream yet and Apple possibly having a disaster. Strongly disagree with him on crypto. There are several startups solving good use cases with crypto but the meme and hype driven nature has forced more terrible projects to come to light. Personally a lot of the industry needs to focus on use cases for crypto.
Problem with all the XR and metaverse talk is that there aren't as much use cases to justify a huge spend.
" There are several startups solving good use cases " name one
@@arcomarco7131 The portfolio of Medici Ventures, one of them being the ability to use blockchain to mark down property ownership. One is general money transmission which is something that is quite hectic around the current SWIFT system.
All the RUclipsrs will buy one😂
This is such a dumb idea. People need to go outside and interact and the battery only lasts two hours
That all depends upon how you measure failure. If you think Apple needs to sell a zillion Vision Pro headsets in order for it to be judged a 'success', then by that very narrow measure, the headset will likely 'fail'.
However, I doubt very much that Apple expects, or more importantly, intends for this device to sell in the same mass consumer quantities typical of iphones and ipads. This is a $Trillion dollar company that dominates in a market built on predicting the future (of technology). They don't need a 1st gen product to generate a few $billion of sales for it to 'succeed'.
The Vision Pro is really a Trojan Horse of sorts. It not only ushers in technologies that will power cheaper more refined future implementations of the headset. But it also delivers an unparalleled user experience, so compelling, that this will likely completely redefine industry and consumer perceptions/expectations of what personal wearable computing should look like in the future.
They are re-engineering social perceptions of what we think of as 'desirable technology'. And they intend for all that aspirational consumerism to be synonymously linked to the Apple brand.
The 'real' selling will begin in earnest some years further down the road. But right now we are already buying into the 'vision'. And from the buzz around WWDC and the world's media, it doesn't look like they are anywhere near 'failing'.
History show.
Critics: this will die. Price too high. Who want a screen on phone. Nobody want wearable watch. Look at the stupid stalk on the airpod. Iphone is too expensive it will never sell.
Apple: crying in their billions 💵
All these men worried about their attractiveness are really sad, insecure people who made fun of people who wore glasses in high school.
Im buying it
I totally disagree. His arguments for failure is absurd in this context.
My worries about using this headset, if any, has nothing to do with wild animals sneaking up on me or making me less attractive. My questions concerns if it’s necessary to be an early adopter, if the weight will be to much to carry and the like.
He’s wrong, bad take.
People who have no vision only see the headset that was announced. That's not the important part, Vision OS, spatial computing, and eye tracking controls is. It's a canvas, a platform. Much in the same vein that iOS, mobile computing, and multi-touch was.
I think head sets are stupid af, but this will be a success. Apple knows their audience and I've always thought that when someone designs a cool looking head set it will (finally) make AR/VR 'a thing'
G stands for Garbage
It annoys me that podcasters speaking over zoom apps, advise the masses to get together in person, because it encourages collaboration and mentorship. Zoom works, and there are whiteboard apps for zoom, and people get coaching sessions over zoom.
I thought the prototype Vision Pro that was demonstrated to the press last week was more polished than that first iPhone at release. That first iPhone was rough, I wasn't too impressed.
I haven't tried Vision Pro myself but the technology on offer as well as the first impressions from people who have tried it, makes me excited. From the people who have tried it, most were in awe and at a lost for words on that experience. Magical was used more than a few times to describe the experience. These are people who could afford any of the VR/AR gear and some have even used most if not all of them.
If they're that blown away by it, imagine what regular folks will think from the experience. The only hurdle Apple has is getting people to try this, once they do, it'll be something to desire, to lust after. Good or bad.
Lol it’s easy to get people to buy it. People will go to in person stores to try out the device. Just like how you’d see iPhones in physical stores for people to try for themselves, this will be the same.
He's too much of a humanist for tech. But I agree with him it looks ridiculous.
No way Apple Vision Pro will fail. Have you seen the Alicia Keys video in the demo at Apple Store? If you saw that, you'd be a HUGE believer! Game Changer.
I feel it’s a product for the handicapped
I wish i could talk to this dude or hear what he thinks now
Couldn't Meta also make apps for this?
Developers have to have actual spacial headsets to develops Spacial apps and content. Spacial video is emotional its a time machine. Your not going to get into a time machine because its slightly uncomfortable?
Its a game changer.
The glasses you want are well described in the anime Dennou Coil, from almost 20 years ago
1ST THIS IS NOT THE FUTURE, IT'S BEEN AROUND SINCE BACK IN 90s
2ND I C NO QUING IN APPLE STORE
3RD U R SO EXCITED TODAY, HOW LONG IS IT GONNA LAST? 2 WKS? 1 MO? 6 MO? A YR??
4TH IF AN INSTANT SUCCEED, THE COMPETITORS SURELY WILL JUMP AND JOIN THE WAGON. IF NOT, THIS WILL END UP LIKE TESLA AND BYD... COMPETITORS JUST WAIT AND SEE... WITH CHEAPER AND LIGHTER VERSION.
Interestingly…Scott is really bullish on cars…another very expensive piece of “technology” that separates people from other people, albeit one that carries a great deal of status cache. For most people; however, cars are just a way to get from point A to point B…usually in suburbia.
Not the right time. Internet speeds and processing power is not good enough. China may do it with their 6G and photonic chips - lol
"Do you want a Hun Day?" 🤣 (I stopped watching after that)
apple is defining it as a computer, so it will have a shelf life of an apple computer, so expect it to be consistently updated for the next 5+ years. have to remember that the vision pro has replaceable battery.
it has failed
What the hell is uporn?
He says this as he wears a piece of technology on his head
Can the Apple Vision Pro help you to mate? No... but it can certainly help you to PRETEND to mate... and isn't that what we're all doing anyway in this Brave New World?
it has no chance as pure AR solution. it needs to do VR significantly better than the competition. right now there's zero evidence it can do VR at all.
Dude, I paid $2500 for my first Mac 40 years ago this week. Adjusted for inflation: $7400. You complain about wearing something on your head while wearing massive headphones which make you look like Mickey Mouse.
The price is meant to test the limits of the demand out.
If it sells well then it will definitely improve in design and functionality over time.
I wouldn't waste my money on it.
You will fail! Plss stop with the fail stuff the device is not even out yet ! And you didn’t even tried it yet so Plss go and Barack somewhere else !
First 😅
Ok boomer. The future is coming. Deal with it
