If you're doing prog / symphonic rock, you have to give Savatage some love. They started as Thrash, but the addition of Paul O'Neil's writing changed their course significantly. The concept album Dead Winter Dead, especially, which is the first appearance of the staple holiday classic "Christmas Eve / Sarajevo (12/24)," by Trans-Siberian Orchestra, of which Savatage is the heavy metal component.
As for Empire, it's amazing how time has changed things. Law enforcement money is now widely criticized as law enforcement is over-funded in many ways and are now getting military grade gear and weaponry, things they were not trained on and should not have.
We actually did a reaction for Savatage but it was blocked by Copyright, we really liked the song though. It was the song Gutter Ballet
@@metalheadsjourney - amazing, I've seen that song get reacted to and no copyright strikes! That was when they were in the middle of their changeover from thrash to a more symphonic rock. It was actually a song intended for their next album, the concept album Streets: A Rock Opera.

you don't have to react to it but if you search on here there is a great little cover of a Who classic done by the combined Queensryche and Dream theater.. they went on tour together and during the shows they would swap lead singers for a couple of songs each set and then at the end of the night the encore was all of them forming a giant jam band and doing some covers for giggles
I was there in Verdun (Montreal) 2003. The whole encore is here on RUclips. Great show.

Talent transcends genre. I have listed to Queensryche since their 1st album and appreciate all their albums, all though they have changed dramatically over the years. This particular line up is their best. I can't stand growling vocals, unless they are small bursts, like in the band Epica.

Geoff was untouchable back then. Geoff & Chris DeGarmo were the best of Queensryche. The current lineup is just a tribute band at best, playing at your local VFW Hall

Haha, Jason Queensryche's first album release was 1983 and Metallica Kill 'Em All (1983) what a clown, we listen to Metal to trash speed metal. Restless and Wild (1982) there was no change in rock genre it was all mixed together from Journey, Scorpions, Motley Crue, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Mercyful Fate, Helloween, Saxon, AC/DC your delusional or are on some damn good drugs..
