Back in the day, before he was a movie star, Will Smith was a young musical talent along with DJ Jazzy Jeff they penned this Halloween special called Nightmare on my street which was loosely based on A nightmare on Elm Street. #willsmith #djjazzyjeff #nightmareonelmst

Wow that’s a blast from the past. Will Smith the beginnings.
Yes!!!!!!!
Dairy of a madman !
D&D from way back in the day. You have to let her hear Summertime as well, if you haven't already. All of his music was pretty good, and clean. A very talented guy indeed.
Once again, thanks for sharing guys (Burch and the Banker strike again)
Oh yea, I mentioned that Summertime so yes we will be doing it. Burch and the Banker sounds like a sitcom :)
@@flickeringboxofficial it is a sitcom watching you guys all the time. Love your show
I used to play and watch D&D when I was younger too. We played on a board that was about 5’x5’. I still have my books and dice and all of that too.
D&D and metal twins. I played a little later, in the mid 80's, but I still play today and love it. It keeps my group of friends together, meeting every two weeks.
This has so many Nightmare On Elm Street references in it that it's a wonder that they weren't sued for copyright infringement, even with the disclaimer. Can't wait for tonight's liveshow. ✌️
This was made to include it into “Nightmare on Elm Street #4” but New Line Cinema didn’t want it and sued DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince's record label for copyright infringement, forcing the label to destroy a music video produced for the song (though a copy of the video did survive and is available online). Both sides eventually settled out of court, but as a result, vinyl pressings of the album He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper contain a disclaimer sticker that says, "[This song] is not part of the soundtrack...and is not authorized, licensed, or affiliated with the Nightmare on Elm Street films."
Time to show “Mazes and Monsters”
The movie with Tom Hanks..I showed that to a few people at my work last year. I will talk about that tonight
My uncle was an artist for DnD back when it was based in Lake Geneva, WI. David LaForce, aka Dsl
This was cool, but I lowkey was hoping for some Fastway today. The soundtrack to Trick or Treat was so good...as was the movie.
I really wanted to but we ran out of time Timothy. Her watching the video would not work without seeing the movie first so we are going to do it soon but have to watch and react to the movie, and then do the music. I thought about this one a lot because the movie is actually special to me.
@@flickeringboxofficial I understand. Its cool you guys are going to watch the movie. I love the movie, watch it at least once a year.
thought I had heard all of his stuff but somehow I missed this one
Speaking of D&D, the characters on your shirt from the 80's cartoon made a cameo in the 2023 D&D Movie that came out in March. I love movie Easter Eggs!
You both have a good chemistry and I enjoy how you play off each other so naturally. Sadly I missed the live stream but jumped here quick to comment that I also liked the Pump up the Volume reference you threw in at the end about eating your cereal with a fork and doing your homework in the dark. Thank you both as always for sharing.
I'm so glad you played the original version as opposed to the one that trims a few mins, the CD version.
My favorite line is:
"You've got the body, I've got the brain"
And on the contrary, part 2 is great. To each their own, but Freddy is at his darkest. Aftet that the movies become comical. At least in part 2, it still has somewhat creepy atmosphere. I never understood the hate for it, but I guess opinions differ. Part 2 is definitely better than 5, 6 and FvsJ.
Telling her not to watch part 2 it sounds like she hasn't watched any them she might know Freddy from pop culture but she doesn't know the references from this. He made this song Because those horror films were such a phenomenon at the time
Is kind of natural to me that you are reviewing DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince in the same week that you reviewed Def Leppard. Since "Parents Just Don't Understand" was big at the same time the Hysteria tour hit my town. We listened to that on the way to the Def Leppard concert. This is not his best early work but it is was funny at the time. Burch, Will is about our age. HEHEHEHE.
Brand New Funk
Its funny because back then he never cursed in his music. He starred in bad boys and just got corrupt after that!!
Alexis, my first job out of college was a bank teller, also. Security Pacific National Bank. I after training I did vacation/sick relief and bounced from branch to branch in Los Angeles. Pacific Palisades branch liked me and requested me. So I did my run there. I was offered executive training after awhile. I had my BA. But I wanted to pursue my Hollywood dreams (BA was in Cinema) so after 7 months I resigned and did get my job of my dreams as a runner for a production company. I am in the IMDB on my only film job. So I eventually wound up in IT. Now on to the video… watching it now.
The video was great, had not seen it before. Very cool. Not into horror films so don’t get the inside jokes, yet it’s still fun.
Great choice.
Joe
I love this song It's still awesome and I love A Nightmare On Elm Street part 2 Freddy's Revenge.
Next song you guys should react to is a rock by hardy it’s a great and emotional song
Jada's the New Nightmare on Wills street
It's Rob Halford an Doro doing Total Eclipse of the Heart
I always consider Will Smith's Fresh Prince material in the late 80's and early 90's to be a parody act because of the cometic lyrics and the goofiness. it when in the mid 90's when Will began to go solo is when he started to do less goofy lyrics.
By the way, the D&D cartoon was a classic Saturday morning cartoon. they did sort recreated the final episode of the show with slide show but with a different voice cast. the only manage to have one original cast member to be involved. it only a special feature on a D&D DVD box set. I do remember someone uploaded it on youtube a few years ago.
Gotta check out Roy Clark 12th street rag or Danzig
This version is very different from the album one
The fat boys are you ready for Freddy is a good track as well!
What did you play it on? I had to pause, I couldn't stop laughing!
people still plat D&D
So you need to look up Dungeon & Dragons car commercial from Brazil. It has the kids come home from the cartoon. It’s better than Dungeons and Dragons movie that came out.
Thank you Brent, that was awesome. Never knew about it!
Seriously, how did you miss saying, "a table" when she asked what you play it on?
I thought Will Smith also wrote Funky Cold Medina and Wild Thing both performed by Tone Loc, but I couldn't find anything on that. Also, sorry for my earlier comment. I'm a jerk sometimes.
Yup, and life turned out awesome. As Ronnie Milsap once said, "I Wouldn’t Have Missed It for the World"
Young MC wrote Funky Cold Medina for Tone-Loc
