Very informative and sensible, and ways to keep food fresher for longer would be a useful video👍

An American (or Canadian?) who loves Marmite! ❤ I’m English and I don’t live without it! Great video, I’m new to your channel today so forgive me for not knowing yet where you’re from. I think slightly less in the fridge or freezer if possible is a good thing as you can see what you’ve got! As one person, I often make a recipe and if possible I freeze the rest of the ingredients in portions or since Covid, I’m back to batch cooking and this is much more cost effective and less wastage for me.

My husband is British, but I appreciate Marmite. I'm definitely not in love with it like my husband! 😅😅 That's a great way of reducing waste!

I like your point of view. Expiries on foods are there because they are mandatory but not always accurate. We all need to think about our food before discarding it. My fridge is also quite bare but I have virtually no waste and I eat well.

Fantastic! Glad to know I'm not the only one with an empty fridge. 🙂 It's frustrating the way they market expiration dates.

The idea that food is an industry to make money from the consumer in an addictive way is a bit of an eye opener. Of course we will all buy food on a regular basis as we need to eat but, we do not need to consume food in the over indulgent way we are encouraged to do which leads to food waste. My meaning there is the amount we buy because of the way it is packaged e.g. 3 peppers in a pack instead of loose veg so we can buy 1 or 2. Most supermarkets offer loose options now but it is often a limited choice. The sell by dates add to this throw away attitude - shops and food manufacturers are constantly reminding us through adverts that abundance is the way to go, throw out the bad, we’ve got plenty more for you to buy. When I was a child most Mums would cut off the bad bits and use the rest, although I wouldn’t recommend that for mouldy food!

@@gillianconnellyMayTreeArt That's true about packaging veggies as bulk when it's not necessary. Selling all vegetables singularly would really reduce food and plastic waste.

I love looking into my refrigerator and I can see everything that's inside it. I am using up before I buy again.

Definitely a great method! Cheaper and better for the environment.
