All I can think of to help with the health loss in that temperature would be custom food for health regeneration. Worth a try, there are super OP recipes, plus a calculator for it online.
@Syntac you can try using an enduro stew, it does not give much in regards of weather BUT it does increase the healing by alot, you might be able to outheal the damage, that is what i use to survive in the ice cave on island PvP without even using armor on there.
so technically, there are 3 broodmothers on that map. you have the regular broodmother from the island in her own arena and then there are itsy&bitsy, which are smaller ones that you fight together. and those are what give you fenrir saddles and other stuff. another thing, the houses of the viking mod have very good insulation, so one of those would be better instead of a normal ark building over in jotunheim.
Twins are smaller and no need for artifacts. Use a big pack of Fenrirs and they don’t stand a chance. Get place to farm chitin. 60 mins cool down on twins spawn. There is a terminal at the end of their small cave to (craft them ) giving you time to jump on a mount. S+ teleportor bypasses runestones
The Eco Viking mod you have added has buildings that are supposed to keep your temperature comfortable no matter what the outside temp is. That might be worth trying for a shack in Jotunheim.
I believe the murder murder snow on rag is comparable in terms of temperature, it was like -55 or something, and there’s another area called snow peak that’s like -80
I found a way to survive in the Fenrir biome with a mod; the upgrade station! I have the upgrade station mod, and using the augment station you can augment fur armor to have the highest cold resistance possible. With EVERY piece of fur armor upgraded to the highest cold resistance you can walk around the Fenrir biome without even a snowflake. It takes a lot of resources to do this, but it is worth it. P.S. upgrading every piece of other armors to max cold insulation, like flak armor, does NOT work. It must be fur.
I mean, yeah but the mod's incredibly broken in vanilla/semi-vanilla. It makes the game a resource farming simulator. Syntac definitely won't add it, and for anyone who wants to play with it, I'd reccomend thinking about it a bit first.
How have I watched you for months and only find out you're Irish now when I'm also Irish! I didn't cop it at all 😂 Names wise, maybe Artio after the Celtic bear goddess?
I like how you're always giving folks useful advice for this game, and always manage to raise the coolest super mutated dinos. Is there a video you did about mutating dilos?
Syntac tame a penguin as well that way you wear full fur Armour, have an otter, a dire bear(I think it should be named hulk), and a penguin because they provide insulation. Also, the more penguins you have, the better insulation you have. (Also a recommendation would be to get a quetz and make a base on it and fill it with penguins and fireplaces). Thank you if you took the time to read my overly long comment.
Here in Alberta Canada we had a record of -52 C over night and day time we were hitting -46 to -48 C. I can honestly tell you I have a brand new vehicle and it struggled to start even while plugged in. Best part was they still expected us to work outside in the cold, but take 15-20 mins breaks to warm up. It was a very slow day with very little work done but hey what can you do, trains have to move.
Dire Bears are in my top 3 favorite creatures to use in the game. Like I love a lot of the dinosaurs in the game, but dire bears are just insane for the multiple utilities and uses on all the maps.
Who else think about otter breeding. Winston would fit the Viking vibes of this series perfectly 😉 couple of atk mutations + imprint and than level it up plus better fur riding bear tek canteen + the regen soup and cold resist soup
The bear god Artaois is linked to the warrior-king, Arthur. ... These were the Berserkers, their name being derived from a Norse word meaning 'bear shirt'.
"I can't do anything else to stop the cold." Yes you can. Drink wyvern milk. Wyvern milk is the best insulation in the game. If you can survive the murder murder snow with it on Rag, I'm sure you could do it on this map, too. You'll just need a bunch. And luckily, there are ice wyverns in Yotenheim! Give it a shot.
murdersnow is warm in comparison to jotunheim :D you need 1600 hypothermal insulation to not get hurt by the cold and 1800 to completly counter the cold there.
The insulation on the bear has been added with its TLC :) And yeah, Loki's offspring are Hela, Fenrir and Jǫrmungandr, the Midgard serpent :) There's also Sleipnir, the 6 legged horses given by Loki to Odin, but that's not a "monster" Oh god, speaking of which, i would like to have a Sleipnir horse, exactly like Fenrir! A unique horse for Fjordur
For names for the bears you could go with the two green villains (one male one female) from Batman being ivy and joker Or meme it and go with shrek and Fiona
Been wondering now for awhile, but how come you don't just bring a stack of torches with you to set up in a cluster while taming something whenever you go to Jotunheim to tame? Feel like it'd probably save you a good deal of health pots, and you could even use them to set up periodic "rest stops" all around the map so you'd have more places you to go sit at to warm up and heal while exploring. other then that thanks for yet another great vid. Also since you named the Fenrir Loki, it'd be only fitting the bear is named Odin, since during his visits to the human world Odin often took the form of a bear
Just started playing Ark and found your channel which has been super helpful and entertaining. Just a point of how cold -90 Celsius is that’s -130 Fahrenheit. gasoline freezes at -100 Fahrenheit
Who are Loki's offspring? With the female giant Angerboda (Angrboda: “Distress Bringer”), Loki produced the progeny Hel, the goddess of death; Jörmungand, the serpent that surrounds the world; and Fenrir (Fenrisúlfr), the wolf. Loki is also credited with giving birth to Sleipnir, Odin's eight-legged horse.
the saddle drop is from the world boss which is 2 broodmothers, different from actual boss fight with artifacts also, viking mod gives 4k insulation inside bldgs
Toxic waffle, why not, but honestly there probably some amazing names you can think of for this guy, Tamer for one "tam-er", Tamara, personally I think it should be a name with a "T" and/or "z" in it
There is another way to get wyvern milk which in my opinion is easier and more re doable and cheaper (in the long run it not cheap to set up in the first time) find a spot where alpha wyverns can spawn and put down 4 or more turrets powered by a jenarator and then lead the alpha wyvern to those turrets, you will need about mabye 25 or so ammo (I would go with over 100 in each turret just because it is likely that you will need to kill some normal wyvern) and then you got some wyvern milk (50), you might think you will need way more than 25 at first… until you realise that flying creatures take 3X MORE DAMAGE FROM TURRETS!!! It is also a REALY good way to get wyvern eggs!
I have a 900% melee otter and still need high level fur curry steaks and ac units. They help but not the fix. It takes AC units on a moving base or crap ton of torches with gear
I don't know if the ridiculous cold temperature would be frustrating or an interesting new game play element. I wonder if the devs intended for players to only temporarily be there.
You should tame a bronto or tapejara or some land or air dinosaur that has a platform saddle then build a warming hut or whatever for exploring Jotunheim.
Was wondering if you've tried using Ferox while in this cold area? Since they have the insulated boost. Might be worth a try, if you haven't. Side note, love your videos!
You know with the sheer amount of dire bears in wastes of extinction, im gonna make a bear army for drops, cause my therozeno army kinda got wiped due to a rando corrupted giga coming over with an enraged trike spawning so that was fun (:
Fenrir is Lokis son the Norse mythology loki also had a lot of kids In his legend but he is technically a half brother to Thor same mother different fathers
You need 1800 insulation. Get better fur armor. The cave in the redwoods has like 7 loot drops in 2 different rooms. One room with sarcos and pirahna and one room with the artifact.
Use a paracer or quetz with a platform full of standing torches, u might not be able to take it back to the main map cos it has things built on it but if u leave it my spawn then u should be good
