Fair enough. One of my goals as I get older is to reduce (or eliminate) sources of anxiety. To that end, I stick to index funds. Sure, investing in things like NVDA would have done better, at least recently, but with that comes a lot of stress. Diversifying reduces (but does not eliminate) the stress. Same for holding fixed income - obviously it can reduce returns (although it can also increase returns, depending on what plays out, at least short term), but it also reduces the stress.

Thank you for your thoughts on dividend stocks. Personally I never touch individual stocks due to a company risk. I setup my Vanguard account many years ago to automatically invest daily into 3 index funds: vfiax, vitax and vhyax. (voo, vgt, vym etf equivalents). On average I make 8%/year. This is good enough for me long term. When i retire, I am planning to live off of a 4% rule and the principal would still continue growing (8-4=4%).
People that claim they don’t know how to invest are most often lazy and/or complacent, in my opinion. Those who have access to the internet can easily learn about investing without spending excessive time on the subject. People make time to piss around on Facebook, TikTok, RUclips, etc., yet “don’t have time” to learn about investing. It’s pure baloney. You don’t even have to read anymore, you can learn by watching RUclips videos . A great many people are unmotivated/lazy/procrastinators, & that’s the uncomfortable truth!
Good video. Sent it to my adult nieces/nephews. I always tell them to start investing young. Then retire early... do they listen? Youth is wasted on the young.😂

I retired at 50 ….S & P 500 Index funds are a good way to go. If those companies can’t make money…no one can.😀 The most risky Investments are marriages , mistresses & business partnerships . At least if the markets tank …..history has shown they recover . If Wives , mistresses & shady business partners clear out with your investments…..they’re gone forever. Another Tip for foreign men coming to these idyllic destinations to retire….If you don’t want kids …get yourself snipped…..but don’t tell anyone.😀 if the girls know there’s No chance of the Visa baby …..they won’t come near you. Over the years I’ve lost count of men with kids in disfunctional relationships here get totally rinsed both financially & mentally .
Wal Street insider here. I've worked as a financial adviser and analyst. I predicted the 2008 financial crisis in detail, so let me simply investing for you. The fact is, although dividends are good, neither you nor most everyone else has the ability to beat the market over the long term. Investing is a competitive game. There are two teams. It's like football. You are either the smart money or the dumb money. Wall Street and other pros are the smart money. The dumb money is the retail crowd. You have no ability to outcompete other investors. Therefore, the best advice for 90-95% of people is to just buy the S&P 500 Index fund and forget about trying to pick stocks because you will NEVER beat the index in the long run unless you have a sustainable competitive advantage. No one reading this has a sustainable competitive advantage when it comes to investing.
@@RetireandGo Yes, True. Safety is for the wise. High risk is for those who usually end up with nothing. By the way I agree with much of what you have stated in your videos about excessive waste and consumerism in the USA. It's really a trap. It's consumer and corporate slavery. I left the USA a decade ago and I've never been happier. Good luck to you and your travels.
I like that you talk about your finances here and i like that you provided kind of clear numbers. Do you have other income like rental or pension? Do you show your total cost monthly or so? I quit my job without much planning last year( i had a good job in IT, but i was burned out), but i feel uncomfortable without w-2 income. I have income from investment, but I still feel like i might have to work again to be able to retire more comfortably in the States...
There is nothing wrong with working an IT build out job for 6 months Server room build out These jobs are around the world too Maybe some travel ! Then after take 6 months off !
Think about the rate of return If your dividend stocks get you 2000 a month What is the amount with 5 percent? 6 percent How about 8 percent This is how you calculate it :-) Higher rates are often riskier ok? Remember that
Made 8% on my money with Bitcoin last week. Why do you keep leaving that emerging markets etf you used to mention? Like it or not 8% in the last week is pretty good money and 100% in the last year is light years ahead of anything (actually 144%). Slow and easy is great but I can cash out right now if I want to, but we'll let it ride baby up, down sideways and to the moon.
@@RetireandGo Unfortunately those stocks we know as "safe" arent keeping up with inflation is actuality. You can always set your sell point. I dont trust anything anymore thats why I started with Bitcoin, many people are learning the same thing now. The market will be great until they quit buying the debt, then its toast. Its not good news but its inevitable.

@@rb5534 You have to be careful what you eat and drink. If you are here long enough your stomach gets use to it. If food doesn't look fresh then don't eat it. When you go out say no ice or ask if its filtered ice and order bottle of water. At home you can boil your water if you don't have a filter. Buying water is quite cheap so you can just buy a few big bottles for 30-50 cents.

When you get older (and wiser) you will realize that you spent way too much time worrying about largely irrelevant matters, like always looking "perfect" to others (i.e. stain-free ironed clothing) 🙃
Don’t stress about such things Wash your clothes Live your life If someone has a problem with a food stain on your shirt , you will never see them again and likewise, screw em Haha :-)

Very nice! You have a good set up
People that claim they don’t know how to invest are most often lazy and/or complacent, in my opinion.
Good point

I agree
Good video. Sent it to my adult nieces/nephews. I always tell them to start investing young. Then retire early... do they listen? Youth is wasted on the young.😂
Oh I totally understand haha !
Im 37 and am contracting I semi regret not joining military. But at the age when I would realistically join iraq and Afghanistan was going on and LOTS of guys where comming back without arms legs dead or their head wasnt right. What did you think of law enforcement? I did fire dept for 10ish years.
Fire department is good work in the contracting world
Also , you might like federal fire dept on military bases
Thoughts?

Curious what do you do when solo travel and you want to go swimming and hang at the beach what do you do with your wallet or personal stuff can't leave it at the blanket

You are telling it like it is !
Boom !
Thanks for the suggestions! Do you invest equal amounts for each stock/ETF?
Not equal but I try to keep it balanced
I like this
Good point
Invest safe, consistent
You are knowledgeable!

Hi Chris, do you have plans to visit Cambodia?
I went last year
It was incredible
I went all through Angkor Wat
Many videos up to check out :-)
I like that you talk about your finances here and i like that you provided kind of clear numbers.

I'm curious how much money needed in investment's to achieve 2000 USD a month?
10 rental houses that cashflow $200 per month.
Think about the rate of return
If your dividend stocks get you 2000 a month
What is the amount with 5 percent? 6 percent
How about 8 percent
This is how you calculate it :-)
Higher rates are often riskier ok?
Remember that

Depends on the interest rate

Made 8% on my money with Bitcoin last week. Why do you keep leaving that emerging markets etf you used to mention? Like it or not 8% in the last week is pretty good money and 100% in the last year is light years ahead of anything (actually 144%). Slow and easy is great but I can cash out right now if I want to, but we'll let it ride baby up, down sideways and to the moon.
Nice! Invest safe and I want you to make lots of money :-)
Is it clean there? compare to other SE Asia, how is tap water in Malaysia? do you get sick with runny stomach like other places in we SE asia?
We use water filters. You don't want to drink the tap water.
@@DamienYuen7718 thanks for the info. I was cautious to move to SE Asia because in Bangkok tourist get diarrhea as soon as they eat in restaurants because they use tap water. And they have slums and sewage run off into pipes.
Great question
I drink bottle water as I travel but bathe in the water
Never had any troubles
Malaysia tap water and ice cubes are safe to consume even directly from the tap/faucet.. it's sanitized and it's ranked third in the S.E.A. after Singapore and Brunei..so no worries 👍

Hey man, been a fan of your content for a long time. I was wondering if you don’t care about the stains on your clothes at all. I understand you cycle through them often, while usually hand washing them on your own to save money. Maybe as a younger guy no retired yet, basic appearance still bothers me. I feel like black, and grey tees would be better for this life style. I know it’s not a priority, just a curiosity
When you get older (and wiser) you will realize that you spent way too much time worrying about largely irrelevant matters, like always looking "perfect" to others (i.e. stain-free ironed clothing) 🙃
@@bureaucrazy1234 totally valid. Maybe I’ll get there one day
Don’t stress about such things
Wash your clothes
Live your life
If someone has a problem with a food stain on your shirt , you will never see them again and likewise, screw em
Haha :-)
SE Asia is hot and humid, wearing darker color clothes may increase the chance of attracting mosquitos or other disease carrying insects. This RUclipsr knows what he is doing in such climate.
Don’t stress about what other people think about you. Eventually, you may discover they don’t think about you at all.
Another great video. Basically you need a base of around $400k + paying you a dividend yield of around 5-6%. This will fluctuate up and down. This will give you a rough income of around $24k per annum give or take. You can get these returns by just investing in 1 or 2 diversification ETF’s. there is no right or wrong way. He has hit the nail on the head though, invest every month!
Nice
That works fine
