Democratic incumbent Phil Murphy will square off against Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli in a 60-minute debate moderated by NJ Spotlight News Sr. Political Correspondents David Cruz and Colleen O’Dea, the Rowan Institute for Public Policy and Citizenship Founding Director Ben Dworkin and WNYC’s Morning Edition Host Michael Hill. Anchor Briana Vannozzi will anchor the live coverage.

If you give the government more power, the people will never get that power back. The liberty issue trumps the scientific evidence in my estimation and I did get vaccinated and believe that vaccines do help. The question to Jack Ciattarelli was framed in a poor way. New Jersey deserves any negative consequences that come from giving more power to the government.

My condolences to you Scott as I lost one of my closest relatives at a nursing home too. It's just very hard to trust anyone in this pandemic. I'm furious that our airports were not closed to Europe at the beginning of the pandemic while the rest of the states were. Murphy and Cuomo have to explain that one again. I just don't understand. Not sure if it was a federal or state order.

@@elained8716 amazing but in new jersey a 1400 Sq house is 378k in a shifty neighborhood and taxes are like 12000 on that so basically to be a middle class person you need like 150-180k combined. So what you see in jersey is poor and rich with a sprinkle of people who bought a house in 2010 and now can't afford it and are struggling everyday.
The comment(“more confederate flags”) at the end by Murphy was tasteless. It really shows how he and many like him loath and look down their nose at ordinary people. He automatically assumes that if you dont vote for him you’re a racist. I hope he loses the election and goes back to Massachusetts.

Nobody ever asks how much of their property taxes actually goes towards abbott districts.
How much? I'm in an Abbott district but taxes here are high too.. Ex. A $500K 2fam house pays an average $13K on a 25x100 lot. New construction 2 bdrm/2 baths Apts will see a tax increase up to $17,000 after the 5yr tax abatement is up. This is Union City I'm talking about. I'm sure the city must get ton of $, and our bread line mayor asks people to put signs outside their houses all over the city and bombards our mailboxes daily with dem propaganda crap 🙄.

Damn, that sucks you believe that. Did you know lower property taxes in rural areas drain county/state budget to maintain public services such as waste, electric, roads, firefighters and police costing more to fix and maintenance than the return on property tax. The reason highly dense cities like JC and Hoboken are able to pay lower property taxes is due to more apt buildings helping offset the burden so everyone pays less to maintain standards. 25 houses over 5miles of utilities maintenance isn't the same as 50 buildings in 1 mile. The cost is relatively lower by quantity and division of payment.
