Thank you for this very informative video. You have explained this unique movement and how it works perfectly. I own one of these, and now I can figure out why it does not work right. Thank you!!

Last night I took my first purchased triple plate completely apart, needs several re bushes. Need to take it to the clock club on January 10th when back together and running. I think I can do it plenty of photos, the other identical running movement I got a few days ago and the Conover book Chime clock repair, also my bushing tool.

The majestic movement by Waterbury has chains but longer arms than their No.35 movement which has 3 plates!

I got one of these 4 years ago and at the time found it a bit be ond me, and quite daunting, not now though. It didn't work also needs rebushing.
A couple of days ago got another one which works perfectly, so now I have a guide on getting the first one working. I do have a bushing tool now that I got last december, exactly the same movement apart from the hammers being for a floor mounted chime block. The first one I got has a vertical chime block I have plenty of photos regarding the original dissembly. You say you only have the one, but you must have 2, the one in the case then the other one you are handling, unless that belongs to someone else.

Thanks for the comments. I only have one complete clock, the other is a parts movement. Waterbury later made an improved version with a stronger chime spring and rack and snail strike control instead of the countwheel.

@@okbridgesThanks again for answering. Will have to get one of the rack and snail strikes sometime if I come across them keepers and won't be selling on as keeping the 2 waterburys I have at the moment, not sure how many were made.
I have worked on about 300 clocks now strikers and westminsters. So now I have 2 of these waterbury movements. One complete and one partially dissasembled, but all the parts are there. One with a case like yours and the latest purchase I got a few days ago a Nap hat one, hence the orientation of the hammers. Both dials in good condition. I have worked on alot of rack and snail clocks, smiths , smiths enfield german and french, and a few count wheel american clocks. Also two 31 day Korean clocks with the leithal mainsprings, got another of those to work on, but know how to do them now. The silence lever stops the chimes but not the strike I noticed. On my latest one the fan , fly is a bit loose so the strike is fast. Your video should help me a lot regarding sorting out my earlier purchase from 4 years ago.

Nowadays the quarter hour sequence and hour strike on tuned set of bells or gongs are recorded and programmed on electronic circuit board, connected to speaker and installed in some quartz clock moments so that they electronically imitates the same sound of this clock. Citizen, Seiko and Rhythm are most well known brands to manufacture such clocks.

Not the same though, I think mechanical clocks are much better.

Is the one in the clock case, a count wheel or rack and snail. on the back plate of mine the double click can't be seen no holes in the back plate, at the point of the ratchet and clicks.

These are both count-wheel movements. The later movements, usually with the chime spring in a barrel, are rack and snail on the strike side. Does yours have a spring barrel for the chime?

@@okbridges yes a spring in a barrel , double click but can''t see that from the outside of the plate. Will put it on you tube.

Very nice just the hammers are a bit bouncy

    • @verybigkittens7550

probably the tension of the springs, they are only thin, mine bounce about a bit as well, but doesn't seem to affect the sound.
