Another reason to cohost for a period of time is it gives you access to a car you may not of other wise been able to acquire. For example a lot of people want a 911 and be able to enjoy the experience, but having that payment burden every month doesn’t make sense if you don’t really love cars. Cohosting you can enjoy it here and there and benefit from the write-off.
If you don't pay them, then you have to get commercial insurance and you have to pay marketing and pay to get your own website. I'm a turo host with economical cars. And they get 25% which isn't bad considering I don't have to worry about any of those things.
