The SY-1 distills the core engine from Boss’ flagship synth pedal, the SY-300 and delivers it all in a highly compact and intuitive package. Sporting everything from sequencers, organs, strings, bass synths, pads, lead synths and a bunch of special fx. Together with a handy parallel loop and expression input for hands-free control, this little wonder is sure to add that secret synthy sauce to your setup.

I remember being a teenager wanting à midi guitar because I thought it was the only way to make those sounds out of a guitar. I remember thinking to myself that one day, some simple pedal effect would allow us to create some amazing sounds like this. That day has come!

Uh that day has came a long time ago lol.... boss sy-300 came out almost 5 years ago, then of course there was other synth pedals that followed after... the sy-1 is not new ground.
Brock Davisson true but it is probable one of the most user friendly ever released compare to the SY 300
I've never had a pedal blow my mind as much as this one has. I can see this becoming essential to the modern guitar player's arsenal.

My EHX Synth 9 just started making a new sound - Uncontrollable Sobbing. This pedal is totally what I've been looking for, the sequencer mode sounds amazing! Thanks for the awesome demo :)

I had the Synth9 for a month and loved it but it would not power up properly 90% of the time with my Strymon Zuma... even with a voltage doubler so I sent it packing. I have this on order but won't see it until apparently November :-( .
@@danjack-son4871 I had a Synth9 for about 3 days alongside the SY1 and the Synth9 went back. I may be moving up to the SY300 just for versatility at some point, but SY1 is basically its baby brother with fewer options for adjusting sounds and signal chains, and no onboard delay. SY1 is like SY300 lite- effects loop, efx pedal support, too. Synth9 doesn't have either of those.
This is one of the best demos I’ve ever seen. You have gone above and beyond to showcase this pedal. +1 like and sub, I’am honestly adding this to my pedalboard now.

There’s tone/rate and depth. 2 turn knobs.
2 parameters. That’s the extent you can adjust each synth variation.
Boss has unquestionably excelled itself.

This could very well be the best pedal that Boss has ever made, I can't believe how much they fit in there. Stefan your loop was amazing. If I sound half as good as you when I get this I'll be stoked.

Thank you for doing a very musical demo of what this synth pedal can do for guitar players vs all of the other "tone-tester" videos I've seen, where they person demoing only spins the knobs and plays the the same phrase over...and over...and over again for every preset. They didn't even attempt to play something that aligns with what works for that specific preset in an actual song. You on the other hand, did a very nice job.
Really well done, man. You put in the extra effort to showcase all of the sounds and layer them up and it shows.

Not only that, but will demo players PLEASE stop adding other effects into the mix. Totally miseading.WTF now it’s three pedals !!?!!!.It’s a cool pedal regardless, but people buying the pedal may well be, “Where’s that sound “?.. that’s another $600 for the other two pedals. Look, the Boss pedal is worth the money but naive players may not realize this semi-scam.Do the right thing Boss, throwing in the extra expression pedal is ok, not cooking the SY-1 with other boutique pedals.. It goes with the territory, but your $2000 tube amp is now solid state.
Man, I love your work! I saw Pete and Lee demo this pedal and, though I love their playing as well, they, along with many others, appeared like fish out of water! You have a knack for finding unique voices and useful applications for all the pedals you use and your playing perfectly compliments synth voices!!!!
After watching the official Boss demo I was like eh...but after you fantastic in depth demo I am JAZZED and can't wait for Boss to start shipping to the stores!!!

@@thepedalzone Hey Stefan I just acquired it and I never witnessed such immense tracking capabilities ! I tried it an hour before buying and it seems just awesomly fitting for a wind instrument.
I will try to make a video in the next few days so everyone can see what it can do. As you certainly know, there is a huge lack of content about fx pedals for horn players and they should know about the SY-1 because it is AWESOME.

I've messed around with guitar synths for years. I tried the Roland 707
just after it came out, buying the GR-20, eventually the GR-55. All
suffered from poor tracking to some degree but the major problem for me
is the strange whistles and monkey noises it puts out if you miss hit a
note or it doesn't recognize it. Pity, I really wanted to love them.
This looks like its solved their faults pretty well. maybe it'll signal
the start of the guitar synth age!
