Have you done any research on the rope that was made with a spliced eye on one side and a wooden toggle on the other? They were used in WWII by our soldiers as well. I believe those are 6’ long.

It is called the "commando" rope. In my time in Scouts as part of my Youth Leadership Training (before NYLT) we made one. In fact I still have mine! Here is a well written article about it stuckinthewoods.info/hikers-rescue-rope/

Where did you find the ferrules you used to cover the whipping? I have everything else i need to make one of these except for the ferrules. Thanks!

Well...I got mine from E-Rigging but when I got them I was disappointed to see that they were much bigger than the originals thus if I were to use them with my current set up I need to get larger O rings so the rope can slide through. House of Antiques also sell them for a bit more and they would also require larger "O" rings since the width is 1 1/4".

I'm having trouble finding a source for the ferrules, could you post a link to where you got yours?

I got mine from E-Rigging, unfortunately they are much wider than the originals thus if I were to use them with my current set up I need to get larger O rings so the rope can slide through. House of Antiques also sell them for a bit more and they would also require larger "O" rings since the width is 1 1/4. If you go with these 1.5" O rings would be the minimum.
