Patrick Macnee said he wanted to move back to England and die in Dorset. He never left where he was living at the time of this interview and died there aged 93

Forty three years later; many that were interviewed (incl. the interviewer), are no longer among us, and LA has morphed into another incarnation. Life moves on; and death ultimately ensues, regardless of social status, bank account, or ones last good review....

Whicker knew his audience. Great audio and slick production. He was good at what he did. The truth? Who knows? Who cares?

Awfuly ironic to see Peter Sellers taking the piss about joggers having heart attacks when at the time of filming he must've had mere weeks left to live himself.

Filmed in late April and he died in late July so he had 3 months

    • @DenkyManner
      @DenkyManner 9 месяцев назад +1

Yes, but he'd already survived a massive heart attack a number of years earlier so he wasn't tempting fate exactly, he'd already been through it and knew his heart was bad

I love Peter Sellers more after hearing that he clearly knows his Indian Food... The clue is he didn't say the word 'Curry'.
I have him down as a Madras with Mushroom Pilau guy... Would have been great to play 'Tug O' Naan' with him at the New Indian Cottage Daventry, which for me is the best Indian Restaurant in England.
It's basically someone's front room at the end of a residential terraced street... But now living in France, that is the place I miss.🌶️❤️🇬🇧
Edit: Fascinating thought-provoking upload thank you.

      If mushy-peas can be guaranteed!
I moved to France in 08, mainly to hit life's reset button, but it has been hell interspersed with moments of joy.
Thinking back, I wish I had gone to tue States... Difficult though it would have been for an artist who is occasionally forced to live on thin air!
Hearing the Bentley lady talking about what she misses about England, I fear most of those things are now alas... But a memory to cling to.
      Best wishes 🌞🇬🇧

Noted that Peter Sellers got back to London that same year 1980 to die.
A facinating insight into such general optimisim that I remember in Society back then.
As for progressive attitudes and suppression of current values, look at that intro!
It is all now a media generated myth.
I grew up as a teen in the 80s and there was no aggravation between any groups and we certainly were not stabbing each other and worse.
Something has gone wrong with Society and everyone is so cynical and negative now.
It is just a shame when in practical terms, as the saying goes, we have quite literally never had it so good.
Maybe that in itself is the real issue?
