Joel, thank you so much for the condolence. I'm laughing right now to hear my name being said on your RUclips video. Wow! I don't know what to say but, Thanks once again. I did not do this for any monetary reason like I said it was a memento of a time in my life where I was in need of a picker upper and got a full effect of that at Disney. Sad to say, that it had to be taken down because of the Mouse Man in a suit, ties, and Million of dollar decide that I can't share that with the world. I meant no harm by it. It was just the little boy in me that love Disney since the first time I saw Mickey and the rest of the crew as a kid wanted me to share that happiness. That print did come out Great and I'm even surprised as to how well the detail came out. I've only taken 50 pictures of that plaque and I think what helped out a lot was that it was on a flat surface. Enjoy and I will be watching you for ever more, THANKS.
I'm sad that the house of mouse made him take it down but I'm very happy that Disney brought him so much joy at such a difficult time. Thanks for showcasing this Joel!
Simplify3D has let me save a few prints where filament jammed or broke and the printer "finished" the object with air - I left the unfinished object stuck on the bed, used a caliper to measure how tall it had gotten, then re-sliced the model setting "Start Printing At Height" with that measurement. Worked great!
Getting that damn cute robot t-shirt as soon as possible! Loving the video's. New to 3D Printing but all your video's have helped me out a lot! Thank you!
So glad you finally got a Trex 2+. I have had the original 2 for a few months now and after the quality I got out of my prints and seeing the upgrades to the + version I thought it should be a printer that is on more people's radar. I will be picking up the + hopefully soon but cant wait to see what else comes from yours.
3D Printing Nerd that's actually pretty interesting as the stock pla they sent with mine wasn't really good at all so glad they seemed to have changed it. I've ran about 40 rolls of supply3d pla+ as I make replica props and cosplay items and get great quality out of it with higher strength then typical pls as it isn't brittle but still prints as easily as regular pls just at a higher temp.
Very interesting that data extrapolated through photogrammetry is not considered fair use!? If anyone has the file I'd love to strip the text out and make some house numbers or a shop sign!
Good work Joel. I agree, Victor has done an amazing job. Although it was born out of sadness, I'm sure this will go some way in helping Victor with his losses.
"Hot temperatures here in the northwest" haha, no kidding! I was on travel for work out in the Seattle area, and it was over 90 degrees! Which isn't too bad, until you realize that the buildings we were in didn't have air conditioning since it's not normally that warm out there... Meanwhile, back home in Southern Indiana, it was in the 70's... Sigh, I just can't win can I?!?
I actually named all the hatbox ghost files in the assets folder "hatchbox ghost" accidentally before renaming them all so I didn't look like an idiot when I sent them to Joel, lol.
3D Printing Nerd You said it took you 12 hours to slice the model! But whats your laptop model? Because you slice on it, design, etc(editing?) I'm looking fir a laptop to model an slice my parts for my wanhao di3!
Do you have a planned review of this printer? I am on the fence about it as my 4th printer. Looking for a good Dual Independent Extruder printer, and this looks like it will fit that bill!. Have you used the dual extrusion yet? Please test with one running soluble materials, and one with any other filament please!!!!
And that's the reason I don't give my money to Disney. I believe in protecting IP. But there is a line, and this whole scenario is soooooo underneath that line that I'm stopping now because it doesn't deserve anymore comment. Awesome print. Really wonder how it would turn up upright :) Maybe with a soluble filament "cradle?" Anyway. This just begs for electro-etching :)
This formbot really puts out nice prints! Is there a review coming for this machine? I thinck it's the one I want, but cannot find a quality review on it.
So if I take a picture of a "Disney object" in Disneyland, and share it with my friends, am I violating Disney Copyright ? Will the Disney police start confiscating cameras at the Disneyland gates .. ? I don't really see the difference here ...
Hi there, good morning. Could you please do a review of the trex 2+, actually my decision to buy lay in your hands :), I got the message from the company that they send you the printer, and I just wait on the review as there is not much info on the web yet except what they put up.
Hey Joel, I was wondering with the solar eclipse coming up, wouldn't it be cool to print something scientific? NASA has some really cool models one can print including one of the Hubble telescope I'm currently trying to print on my Anet A8. I think it would be awesome to see a huge one printed on something like the gMax! Either way I'm always looking forward to these videos, they always make my day. Highest of fives!
3D Printing Nerd - Please, I'm looking forward to this review of the Trex 2 +. As this is my entrance to the 3d Printing world. and I don't want to spend 2.500usd on a printer without knowing its pro and cons. So far from what I saw fascinating but I crave for that review PLEASE. #high5
+3D Printing Nerd Hey Joel, I have a Zortrax M200, and nowadays I very rarely use the Zortrax slicer (Z-Suite). You obviously have Simplify3D, so try and google "g2z gcode" and download the Java app "g2z"! Install the app, start it, slice a file in S3D and save the gcode to disk. Drag and drop the gcode file onto the g2z window. You will then after a short delay have a zcode file that you can move to your SD card and print on your M200! Feel free to drop me an email if you have questions! #highfive!
75% scale version printed on my Woodstock Delta printer with 0.15mm layer height. Weighs 76g, Took 8.5 hours to print in Grey Inland PLA drive.google.com/file/d/1pXGZwactPxM-x8BvtrDNBxOArTZHncYNXQ/view?usp=sharing
that would look so cool if you applied a rust layer with the protopasta iron then you could give a demo on how to rust protopasta iron fila maybe Alex would help with that, that would make a great video
3D Printing Nerd the metal effects one is pretty cheap and will actually oxidize over time(you can put a finnish to prevent that if you don't want that)
I am reluctant to buy at 3D printer because I don't want to print those meaningless models. I don't need dragons or low polly video game characters. I would love to find a network of copyrighted material, like action figure parts and accessories from Hasbro… and other stuff like that. I would like to print things that I see on the market, print them instead of buying them… I would kill for tamaashi nation effects models! Is there any underground network, like bit torrents to download copyrighted TV material, where I can find those models?
Why not just use your brain and do the work for your self? So you deserve to print those models. Do you mind I ask (Sorry I step now on many toes of good people): Are you British?
I work for Disney and think that you should not encourage people to print intellectual property. Would you be ok if I were to give a link to download photoshop? We work really hard to bring you great content for you to enjoy. I feed my family with the money that Disney makes. Just like you feed your family with the monies your company makes on its product.
It looks like Disney owns the Trademark to "Haunted Mansion" - the words in that order, but there is nothing saying the plaque is original artwork owned by Disney. I'm not say they don't own the rights to it as an original artwork, but, if they do, I cannot find any legal filings about it. That said, about your comparison - if someone were to pirate a copy of Photoshop, the idea is that Adobe would lose the money for that installation of the software. In the case of the plaque, what money has Disney lost? The plaque isn't marketed or sold by Disney, and I don't believe Disney has lost income. That said, if Disney were to start selling Haunted Mansion plaques, my guess is this may become more of an issue. Thankfully, I think you and your family haven't lost out on food money because of this. Personally, printing this out makes me want to go back to Disneyland even more than I used to, and when I go, I'll buy a ticket for myself, my wife, our kids. Thank you for the conversation.
I hate this people who like to put trademarks on SIMELAR designed things, or other people who like blame 3d printing for death in order to make money with loopholes likes in THE MARLBORO MEN. Lets use logic Disney designed it OK, but how it is reproduced? Disney has no 3D files what leak out in to the Public and get reproduced from originals. What is done here is nothing else than Copy by eye and as far as I know that's not illegal, would be funny if my child does an replica of mickey mouse and get sentenced to jail because theft of intellectual Property... WTF. The statement of downloading photoshop, John if you could get it for free would you pay for it? 2 SIDES: 1. If you have money laying around and you use it in order to make money YES you should pay!!! 2. If you are too young or just use it to play around with then why would you spend 800usd/year on it, if you could get it free? And the food on your table just have something to do with how usefully you are to your company not with how many people copy or pirate things (Do a good job and you not need worry about your food). Actually Pirates promote the products, so your company make more money in the end. This is a fact! Look Microsoft, Adobe, Apple,..... Also without pirates people at those companies would loose their jobs (Security officers, Coders who prevent software from being pirated, ....) How about there FOOD ON THE TABLE for their Family and children, John? So quite a selfish statement from you.... 3D Printing is available to the Public thank GOD for that, now just need silence this Cooperation's what like to take its profits for them self, or we face another DARK AGE and Development gets slowed down. A big thanks to 3d Printing Nerd to do all this work more or less for free. We need more like you!!!
Just this one line is the main problem with this generation. Pirates promote the products. Seriously so if I steal a Honda accord I am promoting for Honda? Get real, your argument makes no sense. I love Joel and his content and will continue to watch.
1st of all what generation you are from? Put your mind at ease I guess we are from a similar generation. 2nd Between a Car and software is a BIG difference, you buy a car then its yours in relation to "Adobe" you pay for time to use, no matter you use or not. Your Car you own you can drive or not you always can use it, Right? I know not a solid argument. Lets see in the early 2000 a program was invented calles ICQ, came from nowhere, People was scared to use, Company name Mirabilis no one knew. And Poof nowadays it so one of the well knowen Chat programs what connects the world. AOL came out of the same time but ... AOL. Good advertising but the rest crap. ICQ started from scratch got popular by copy over copy. Yes its was and still is free but that is how it got promoted. Microsoft Windows how was this way? You think everyone bought windows and there upgrades? 3.1 ... early days the fight between Win 3.1 (costy) and DOS 5.0 (free). Then win 95 the first real windows so many bugs, do customers need to pay for bugs? YES in your mind, to support the company, but this payers complain instad of getting productive. The ones who pirate are actually in development and so we come to win 98 the firs stable but slower version, then win 2000 the Mix NT version super fast at this time and so on till today win 10. where also Microsoft realized the value of the public and invented with 8.1 the INSIDER Program. Be honest with your self if you pay LOTS of money for bugy software you will complain about it and not help the company to develop. Pirates are different they not pay initially but eventually if they happy with the work of the company, but pirates usually not complain about free stuff and they are willing to help in development. So we came to win 10. I know you will not admit it but you see the point and you understand. And before you judge Pirates/Hackers/Coders as bad please judge the government first, USA the nation what uses backdoors and influence to spy on all of us 24/7. I would be happy there would be more hackers who bring the truth out of their secrets. Wouldn't you? I know you ask what have that to do with pirated software? Hmmm lets see... Everything! You buy Apple, Windows, Android even newer ver. of Linux and you PAY in order that they can spy on you. Adobe or other subscriptions is no diff. All your data is stored somewhere in the USA, .... That's just one reason if you want to you can find more easily. And this is the Problem with THIS Generation. Not the bad Pirates, Hackers,.... Just the American Government. (Peace Snowden!) Sorry Joel, nothing to do with 3D Printing just on the issue with Copyright. I Love your stuff but I would be glad to see a review of T-REX 2+ PLEASE.....

I have seen your model on another site :-)
I'm sad that the house of mouse made him take it down but I'm very happy that Disney brought him so much joy at such a difficult time. Thanks for showcasing this Joel!

It's official. I now *need* a 3D printer just to print this plaque 😍 love me some Disney, especially the Haunted Mansion!
Getting that damn cute robot t-shirt as soon as possible! Loving the video's. New to 3D Printing but all your video's have helped me out a lot! Thank you!
I absolutely love the variable settings wizard. I almost made a video on it myself. Man I would love to print one of these.
just printed one of these on my ender three quality is awesome!
So glad you finally got a Trex 2+. So far, the prints from it using the generic PLA are amazing!

I'm a simple man: I see haunted Mansion, I click.
Very interesting that data extrapolated through photogrammetry is not considered fair use!? If anyone has the file I'd love to strip the text out and make some house numbers or a shop sign!
+WildRose Builds check the description :)
Those are some awesome shirts Joel!
Good work Joel. I agree, Victor has done an amazing job.
Although it was born out of sadness, I'm sure this will go some way in helping Victor with his losses.
Thank you, Spike!
awesome new shirts!

just got my first perfect print after days of calibration , thanks to your tips. HIGH FIVE !!!!1
RETURN FIVE!
Awesome print...yeah...Disney is pretty aggressive with their intellectual property!
Love to see one made using a brass infused filament or other metal infused filament. Bit of sanding and weathering to make it look great...
you could also print that with the copperfill PLA and then age it to get the oxidized parts
since this is a 3d printing video on a 3d printing channel, shouldn't the description say watch out for the hatchbox ghost
badum tss
I SAID THAT IN AN OUTTAKE!
So where can we still find the file???
Edit: it's on MyMiniFactory
thanks for featuring this. I am Huge HM fan
Thank you for the info on this awesome print! I was able to find the stl online ;)
Way to stick it to the man!
I hope Disney doesn't come after you now. That is a crazy long slice time, you have amazing patience!
Do you have a planned review of this printer? I am on the fence about it as my 4th printer. Looking for a good Dual Independent Extruder printer, and this looks like it will fit that bill!. And that's the reason I don't give my money to Disney. I believe in protecting IP. But there is a line, and this whole scenario is soooooo underneath that line that I'm stopping now because it doesn't deserve anymore comment.
Awesome print. Really wonder how it would turn up upright :) Maybe with a soluble filament "cradle?"
Anyway. This just begs for electro-etching :)
Unnnnnncle JOOOOEEEEEEELLLL would loooove to see your review on the Formbot
WORKING ON IT!!!
This formbot really puts out nice prints! Is there a review coming for this machine? I thinck it's the one I want, but cannot find a quality review on it.
A review of sorts is coming!
This would have been awesome printed in Bronzefill and polished!
Well done Joel.
Thank you!
Could you do more videos with de n2+ I am about to buy one and would love to have more tips from you on issues and usage
Joel! Finally you use a Formbot! Haha
you should print something sailormoon related!
So if I take a picture of a "Disney object" in Disneyland, and share it with my friends, am I violating Disney Copyright ? Will the Disney police start confiscating cameras at the Disneyland gates .. ? I don't really see the difference here ...
You took a file from the CR-10 group and printed it on the Trex2+? You've got some brass, sir.
+theflamingpi BIG'UNS
Joel,
Don't know if anyone else mentioned it but the green is oxidation of copper.
That's right, I spaced a bit. Thank you :)
12 hours in simplify 3D?! This slices in 10-15 seconds in Cura and Flashprint.
+Andrew Southworth No! 12 hours in Z-Suite! Simplify3D sliced this in 10 seconds :)
For the other print he should do a giveaway!!!! Like to show him
3 Disney reps
Off topic question, how long are you supposed to heat treat high five blue in an oven for?
must show finished product maybe on halloween.......as always happy extruding !
How would I ‘split’ this to print it out , say, 4 times bigger?
Hi there, good morning. Could you please do a review of the trex 2+, actually my decision to buy lay in your hands :), I got the message from the company that they send you the printer, and I just wait on the review as there is not much info on the web yet except what they put up.

It's like you've read my mind :)
The u between q and e (or q and i) is usually mute in Romance languages. It's vahs-kez, not vahs-kuh-ez.
So what made you move your studio to the basement from the room upstairs
Garage, and space.
William Hayden yeah that makes sense
do you recoment this 3d print?
I don't let the ads play, sorry Joel. I bought a shirt . . . or three though, so are we cool?
+Sean Smithy Oh, you know it. We are SO cool!
Can you do a review on the Formbot T-Rex 2 3d printer?
Yes!
#high5

How would you invert it to make in into a mold?
I don't want to jinx it but the mouse house man might make you take down the vid.....
really like how the print truned out

What are you printing on? What is the model made out of
This was printed on a machine called the Zortrax m200 and it is in HIPS material.

why don't you print then with proto-pasta iron fila
I will be!
that would look so cool if you applied a rust layer with the protopasta iron
then you could give a demo on how to rust protopasta iron fila maybe Alex would help with that, that would make a great video
What's the chip in that, a Dorito?!? (With apologies to Wierd Al) 😜
Who can print me 2? Seriously I’d love to buy 2 to add to my haunted mansion Halloween display.

Try casting it into real brass

I like that idea.

(Peace Snowden!)
Sorry Joel, nothing to do with 3D Printing just on the issue with Copyright.
