    Thank you so much for your lab content. I’ve just discovered that this field exists and am happy to say I will be pursuing a career in this field in 2024! Your channel has been so informative with such little content out there on this topic

    Congratulations!! Do this position starts at six-figure? With just a B.S. in Biology?
    I do see that most opportunities for a Scientist or Technologist with just a B.S. are majority in the Maryland area.

    • @RisaB
      @RisaB  Год назад +2

      Thank you! & It definitely depends on the area and company. Maryland does have a lot of biotech companies and labs!

    what contract company did you work for? Also do you prefer the clinical or research side of the lab? can you do a video on what you did to get a promotion to a scientist and how you got to go to different departments?

    • @RisaB
      @RisaB  10 месяцев назад

      I worked for a company called Piper Companies, so they specifically staff for STEM companies.
      Both areas of the lab have their positives but I think I like clinical just slightly better because of the forced organization lol. & I can def do a video covering those topics, thank you for the suggestion!

    hello good day, i’m a medical laboratory scientist currently undergoing my internship program in Nigeria. Please i’ll like to inquire how i can go about enrolling for the ASCPi exam and getting the past questions to gain the ASCPi license as i’ll love to migrate into the states to work as a medical laboratory scientist

  • @prissy1818
    @prissy1818 10 месяцев назад

    Would you say it’s easier to become a scientist in other states besides california? Here in california, you are either required 5-7 years to become a scientist or a masters/PhD

    • @RisaB
      @RisaB  10 месяцев назад +1

      It’s hard for me to speak on the first part because I’ve only ever worked in one state but I I would say there’s other factors at play as well besides required experience/education that can make it easier or harder. My job also requires 5 years experience for scientist and an advanced degree but I was able to show my capabilities (along with other factors), which is how I got there a bit sooner.

      @@RisaB I was wondering if that was the case for you so very impressive on your part. Thank you for answering my question ❤️

    It sounds like a lot of paperwork/quality assurance work.. Would you say this new role is more so quality and regulatory and less wet bench?

    • @RisaB
      @RisaB  Год назад

      No I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s more quality/regulatory. I’m still in the lab throughout the week (every week) but then there are other assignments like resolving issues seen in the lab, training technologist, lots of emails, etc. I hope that kind of answers your question!

    Isnt a clinical laboratory technologist equivalent to a medical laboratory scientist? What is its difference?

    • @RisaB
      @RisaB  Год назад

      Hey so clinical laboratory technologist is the same as a clinical laboratory scientist. Some companies use one title or the other and some companies require a CLS degree and some don’t. At my company we have a clinical laboratory technologist who has a clinical laboratory science degree but their job title is still clinical laboratory technologist. My title however is just scientist ☺️
