Just coded something very similar to this but mine displays the image with dice. When I saw you manually inputting dice into the illustrator I was shocked.
yeah I just did a portion of it in illustrator to make sure it looked fine, believe me if I was competent at coding it would have been way better of an option
Hey, i am thinking of making a dice mosaic too, i have a few questions, Does the size of dice matter? I selected 10,000 dices and the image still looked distorted, any suggestion regarding this? Do need to rescale the image before uploading?

Think i would have layed the dice w no glue then covered it in epoxy, might have solved some of the warping issues.

Got them from Aliexpress, you have to find the right deal for the price to be reasonable. I had to go with mini dice

Dice are cubes so any distortion you are getting is most likely from the image you selected
