I'm giving my first evaluation today and this video was right on time. I already feel like my evaluation will be 100% better after watching this video! Thank you!
I viewed this before entering the area speech evaluation contest this week. While I didn’t come in first, it provided explicit direction on how to prepare and how to deliver an evaluation. Thank you!
Thank you Chris.. I liked the way you systematically organised your evaluation strategy.. I generally avoid taking up the evaluation role. But after watching your video I have understood how to give an authentic evaluation..
I'm giving my first speech evaluation tomorrow. Your suggestions are really helpful. I especially liked the organization of banging out 3 quick points, and then drawing out 1 recommendation and 1 great thing. It makes the speech much easier to manage.
Excellent. Chris. My first Toastmaster Evaluation is thus evening, and your tops are very helpful: concise, memorable and we'll organized (see? I'm already learning!)
Its a good set of techniques you have got there. My earlier evaluations were part of those boring or not so enlightening methods you had mentioned. I guess this will enable me perform and grow as a better evaluator!
Thanks Chris! I have heard one of these tips before, but this presentation made sense of it, and provided the whole picture: the simple page with 2 columns. I was getting stuck on how to make sense of all my notes (I make many!), present them AND then note them in the manual without taking so much time. I will also do as another comment suggested: PRACTICE your format using You Tube speeches. I am sure a dry run will show me where I need to focus. I agree with another poster - would love if yo
Liked this a lot--will use some of your tips! I especially liked your suggestions of how NOT to do it--and your specifics with your how to do it--sounds like something similar to the T method or sandwich method...I like the 3,2,1...3 good, 2 improvements, 1 excellent...but you gave some excellent sugestions about what to look for.
What did I like about this evaluation tips. I agree that valuable evaluation time is wasted by introducing yourself to fellow toastmasters etc.I really liked the fact that the speaker provided a no nonsense piece of paper to take notes, simple but effective. There was one specific tip that stayed in my memory and that was marking the part of the speech that stood out and part of the speech that in his view could be improved. Better sound quality would improve these tips. worth watching.
So now I know what's going on in that head of yours! If only I could draw two columns in this comment field. All kidding aside, really good information and great presentation. The sound on the video is a little low, but that's just "lost in translation" from computers. I almost wish you would have had used one of those big post-it pads to illustrate the page layout. I thought the organization was great and it place emphasis on what an evaluation is really supposed to be about. Great work! -Joy
(Continued . . . Frm prev post) Would appreciate if you would find a way to improve the sound, perhaps a lapel mic? Thanks again - will look for other You Tube pieces by you!
