@@codysautodiagnosticsprogra8706 hey I watched your video on RUclips about IOD convenience key defective diagnosis fix, I have the same issue, what was the part number of the transistor in where can I buy one
Great job Eric, it is so nice to see a mechanic dip a toe into SMD repair. New challenges! I think I've caught up on all your old videos, what an excellent channel. Keep em coming.
I’ll add a little additional info. The touch sensors begin to actually leak water because the rubber gasket goes bad, this is what causes the sensor short. The short causes the transistor to stay “ on” longer than a few seconds ( like in normal operation) which causes them to overheat and burn out. You can replace the transistor but the problem will occur again. Just a matter of time/rain. You as a long term fix have to replace door handle AND the transistors, then it will go back to original function. They’ll still get random short to ground error codes but it isn’t an error that trips dash light and will come and go awhile as the water dries out on handle sensor and before transistor goes bad.
I think your right. My convenience key has been defective for like 8 years!.. it went out after I was driving in the rain one day. Smh. Not sure what to do. I might just leave it. Because if I mess up that module. Then it will leave the entire car not working. Then would have to be towed to the dealership costing even more $. Not sure what to do. Sooo many problems with my audi. Piston ring problem. Replaced Turbo. Convenience key. Rear door handles. It just never ends. Could be considered a lemon. Instead I just bought a New BMW under warranty. Still drive the audi though. What a pain
