You talked briefly about the pressure that comes with client work, so I was wondering if you had any advice for those of us who are making the transition from drawing for fun to drawing for work. Awesome video btw!
Don’t get less for what you deserve (eg. Don’t sell your artwork way too low for the amount of work you put into it) and be sure not to overwork yourself. With increasing your prices just make your prices higher whenever you feel like you’ve gained some skill
This video helped me so much - especially the part where you talk about feeling the pressure of performing well when starting a drawing - thanks for all your great videos :-)
@@ericanthonyj lmao we love ur vids all that effort u put into ur vids just to delete them in a couple of weeks smh ur too talented and skilled to not share it w the world
Lots of valuable tips in here Eric , thanks a lot man ! I really liked that advice about not being serious / stressed when working on personal works , because I usually tend to do get stressed when things don't work out as I was expecting it to , I need to treat it more lightly and playfully 😁 Thanks for this video again ! Hope to see more of such bts type vids 😊
Damn, I am suffering from artblock for quiet sometime now but after I watched your videos I feel like i can start again your videos are so inspirational. keep up the good work. Much love from The Philippines.
A year later, and still the best digital painting channels. Thank and you for all the techniques and knowledge you have given a VERY large amount of us. 🙏
The only thing I have to say (possibly negative) is that it is GREAT you can draw portraits from a reference photo without anything to measure (i.e. no guidelines or basic sketches like starting with a circle for the skull and laying out the foundations of the features) except your own eye and know-how but many of us are not that talented. I personally cannot draw faces or figures (especially real life people) without guidelines and foundation sketches. Although you taught me how to look for visible guides in the photo reference, it was kinda like Bob Ross painting happy little trees and I take my fan brush and made sad lumpy blobs. It did give me some insight though so thank you for that.
Eric I loved this video. They always inspire me and you’re my go to artist when I have mind block or am feeling low I’m confidence of my ability. Thanks 👊🏽
Yes! Please keep posting your digital painting process! It is super helpful to see how others approach working in photoshop (to see similarities and differences in contrast with my own process). I love your channel! Keep up the great work brother!
Idk ... like fifth comment? Also yes i want to see more behind the scenes videos (Sorry i skippded through the video so i can see all the content and then i will rewatch it :D)
Thanks so much for this video. I always feel like i have to paint or draw something perfectly. It wasnt until last year i started relying more on my eraser because like you said, i was one of those people who felt like i needed to use my eraser less in order to become better. However i rely on my eraser now and i feel that my work comes out better when i allow myself more chances to fix something. I also really like that you use clip studio. Most people use photoshop and clip studio is the only major software i use besides procreate. I was wondering if it's possible to explain tools used in csp and how to use them? I'm kinda lost in the dark about clipping layers, masks and slicing as well as layering for digital protraits. When i paint, i often get confused and find myself painting on the wrong layers. 😅😂
A very strange question, just starting to watch this video. But why do you keep a reference in the side? With modern programs and layers, you can add her as background, paint a rough sketch above and immediatly looks where landmarks are. Is it because it generates a to perfect replica of the image? I just want to know thought of not doing it like so
Oy yo man your forgot the bolognes. When's the tutorial coming out for that? I mean, I can eat this pasta by itself, but I guess something else added to it would be nice?
novaboom overwatch highlights I usually don't require any inking because I paint on top of my lines and kind of make them disappear. I can record a separate video on that :)
I’m transitioning from pencil drawing (where I’m really good) to digital art (where I’m not experienced) and I’ve developed this odd obsession with redrawing lines until they are perfect (even wrinkles) and it ends up looking like shit. Lmao
Okay man, I don't care if you "found a random picture on Pinterest", technology in 2019 has gotten to the point where you can find the model or source with a few clicks. There is even an option in Pinterest to find related pins, and many of them lead to the original post and you can link the photographer or model. Think about it, as an artist, you wouldn't want someone to use your art as a reference and saying, I found this random drawing, and not even making an attempt to credit you. Just a thought.
Hello, Eric. Draw beautiful girls with perfect faces, big eyes, sensual mouth, is relatively pleasant. It's hard to make this picture of not-so-beautiful people. I really enjoy your work and I want to one day be as good as you, but how do you solve this?
You have great technique, but exclusively doing female portraits is just a really generic avenue to go down. Theres no variety to your work. I dont say this to be mean, whatever sells as an artist. But one day if you keep catering to this youre going to burn out. Switch it up
At this point, why don't you just trace the photo? You're basically making an exact copy using your reference technique anyway, so I don't think it would be cheating any more than what you're doing.
Do you like Spaghetti?
Its burger bruhh! Xd
I want Spaghetti now. Or Capellini, those are good too.

The way you work is very satisfying to me 🤧

tip for traditional artists: if you can't flip your drawing just put both the reference and the drawing upside down to spot mistakes!!

When referencing a photo so much as this aren't you supposed to credit the model and or photographer? When is there too much reference versus not?
