Jomtien is a great place. I've always lived by the water and sailed and surfed. I wish Thailand had surf, but I spend more time at the marina in Jomtien.

Great video as always Joe. Even if you lose your bearings it doesnt matter One bit as we get to see the streets, the sights and sounds and can work it all out with the various places of interest. As you say, it aint no BBC documentary

I'm enjoying all of your videos.😊 I give you just a minor correction, you assumed the Tribe in Jomtien soil 11 is a bar, but it's not. It's a cheap and good hotel that I have stayed inn for weeks, during the last 3 years. I would recommend that hotel because of the nice location and nice pool at the roof 😊

I stayed in Jomtien for a month about half a mile from where you stopped. FYI there a lot of beer bars down that streed and some more in Soi Welcome about 1/4 mile from Soi 12? fyi the soi numbers have always been hard to keep up with

There used to be between 30,000 and 60,000 Russian-speaking people in Jomtien but there must be many more now.
It will be interesting to see the development in Pattaya/Jomtien when the high-speed train from Bangkok to Rayong is completed.
Jomtien is a great area
I have been to Jomtien 5 times this year and would say few Russians - maybe they don't have the money. They don't speak English and keep themselves to themselves. Their holiday is the beach, food and their hotels
@@philipbarnard2474 You are right, most Russian speakers live on the other side of Jomtien's second road, there are areas where all shops and restaurants are in Russian/Thai. I thought I saw between 90 and 100 Russians in this short video
Hey Joe do you remember the Diving being any good in the place that the Jomtien Dive Shop took you to? I came accross my PADI Scuba Card today in my drawer and i said to myself "well i wont be needing that PADI Card if im just going to BKK and Pattaya" but i think im gonna bring it along and go down to Jomtien and checkout the Dive Shop and get some info and possibly do a day of Diving. Someday i would love to go to The Similan Islands for a Liveaboard experience. Thx for another great Vid. Hey btw, are you going to Morrissey on the 18th?
All my dives are a blur together. I think I did some wreck dives from the Pattaya Dive Centre. We pulled into the Jomtien shop to pick a few people up. It's always nice and clear in Thailand. But, I was used to 4 feet of visibility in California. So anything is better than that. Plus, it's nice and warm here. Go check it out
I thought someone asked me about Morrissey. I had to go back and look. No, I've seen him a dozen times. Saw him in Vegas a few years ago. I'm heading to meet friends in Pattaya from San Diego early the next day. It should be a good show, but I'll miss this one.

I like the look of Pratumnak as a place to live, but lack of public transport puts me off. Jomtien looks good too.
Are there any shopping centers down there, or are the Pattaya malls the nearest?
I'm not positive on the malls. I don't think there is anything too large near Jomtien. But someone may correct me. I've only spent time near the water. The baht bus is close, but yes, you'd need a motor-bike to get around the area. Or enjoy walking.
There’s a large Makro and Lotus on Third Road/Sukhumvit Road, 15 mins by motorbike, also a massive fish, meat, fruit and vegetable wholesale market called Ratanakorn on Thepprasit Road Jomtien! I go at least once a week great choices and the best prices!
@@roygoad2870 I knew there were nice places to shop, I wasn't sure if there was another Terminal 21 size mall on the Jomtien side. Once again, I really like your area. Thanks for the comment
I think I'd be catching a grab to Central mall a couple of times a week.
I think Jomtien will be a major town in the future.
@@tw25rw You can still catch the baht bus nearby. But, a Grab will also be very cheap. Maybe 20 minutes and you'll be at Central Festival.

Still there huh? Good for you and my question is how much American Cash can you bring into Thailand when you arrive at the airport?
If you go over the limit is there a problem penalty or fine? How do they know if you bring over the limit is it just a questionnaire will they make you empty all your luggage and bag??

I did a fast Google search that says 20K is the limit before you have to declare at customs. After 20K I'd guess you'll have some fees to pay. Yes, they can always search your bag. If they see something on the x-ray that looks suspect.
