Bruh...It seems like there is about 5 minutes of information missing starting at about 5:40 in. How do you get to the terminal command? How do you clone your gitlab info? Where do I download to? The tablet or the PC? And what format? There are like 4 different options to choose from to download. This would be awesome if you could walk us from the time you turn your pc on to 5:42 in. Thanks.
When cloning from git hub it means you download the file (preferably a zip file that you unzip), and download to pc
Also for the terminal you need to CD(in terminal use the cd command) into the folder, and also it seems he is using an Linux terminal
Also you need adb
I don't trying to be rude but, if don't know how to get to the terminal (or even what Os he's using), this tutorial is way over your knowledge level.
@@chinh4thepro Yeah... I was lost and confused too about the lack of info from getting the files to what to do with them, haha. Luckily, I have been a web developer for awhile and used to dabble with Linux when I was younger.
Rule of thumb though for those that don't know how to decipher: All shells/terminals work as follows = [os-command / program] [tags/commands] [whatever else is necessary]. Not in that particular order, but if it's at the beginning of a command it's either a native command or a pointer to a program.

Hey Kris: Very helpful, I’m reasonably skilled technically and may need to watch it a 2nd time. It looks like at the end of the day you’re still running the Amazon Fire OS (a hybrid/customized version of Android). Wondering if that becomes an issue down the road where certain apps in the Google App Store might require a certain version of the OS to run? Is there an option to fully replace the Fire OS with the most recent version of Android Tablet OS?
If you can figure out how to install twrp and lineage os on it.

Where's the instruction between 5:40 and 5:41? How do you clone and what's gitlab? What desktop are you using that runs text based? What does cat out mean? What does head out mean? How did you push the file to the device? Wifi?
There's a lot missing that makes this incomprehensible to anyone who doesn't already know what you're doing and, therefore, wouldn't be watching this video.

Probably should refer to the kindle size and which generation it is, like mine is a Kindle Fire HD 10 (9th generation). This is, of course, visible on Settings, Device Options, About Fire Tablet. I understand they reworked the Fire OS, so that some rooting software only works before a certain date, unfortunately I don't know when version it changes. Thanks.

Awesome guide, got mine working but i do have one small problem. Any time i try to download a file via a web browser it crashes the browser. I've tried a couple different browsers with the same result
When attempting to install any of the provided .apk, I get this error message: Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INTERNAL_ERROR]

When I plug in my fire 7 tablet I hear a ding sound but no message asking me for the tablet to share with the laptop comes on. So the fire 7 does not show on my laptop.

Windows PC, lol. We use Linux.
Windows is proprietary garbage! Maybe try WSL (which still needs a lot of work and the performance is crappy) in Windows or use a Linux live USB.

I have not trying installing Google Apps on it, but you should be able to install them. I would look into OpenGAPPS. If you are looking for a RUclips App, I would suggest NewPipe.
Idk how he got the hole coding thing. but you didn't say what program to use for the coding part.
I have realized after getting rid of all these things the default settings options are completely missing. Such as under settings you cant change things like allowing installations from unknown sources. Where would I find these options to change now that they are missing?
For example now if I try to install or update something from f-droid I get a message "For security, your tablet is set to block installation of apps obtained from unknown sources" but if I click settings it cant take me to the page it needs to because it dosent exist.
Hi. It seems like you missed a step... I do not understand what is the shell you are using on the computer. ....It seems I need to install something called adb shell... would you please explain that step?
just run your linux distribution's installer to install the adb program. In Ubuntu this is "sudo apt-get adb". Run the command, confirm download, and you should be good.

Just a heads up for folks wanting to buy a fire 7 in 2021: It's locked down - the shown root-method does not work anymore. Also the hardware method that involved opening the case and shorting a pin doesn't work either. All you can do is install a different launcher that hides all the crap. I use my tablet(s) as home automation dashboard. They don't get internet access so I can live with the restrictions. YMMV.

Can you please tell me if you are using a linux or windows computer . i do have ubuntu , ( linux lite 5.8 ,but im not real experienced, in fact i just had to reinstall because i messed my last system up , but im determined to learn & be rid of windows if possible . ive been using windows 😭8.1 , so either way im sure i can do this , but im not sure how to use this on a linux , can you point me in the right direction . . ( ive been using ubuntu for around 6 months , with no issues really , i just tried repartitioning & messed it up bad 😱. anyway , new start . I bought 2 fire tablets & the toolbox thats on the xda webpage worked on them , then for some reason , 1 of them reverted & ive had problems with it ever since . The other 1 is still doing great , but this one , i think im going to have to root it completely . your video & applications appear to be very well put together , im just not sure which laptop to use , the windows or the ubuntu .( they are for my grandsons ,) thanks in advance & thank you for all the effort youve put into this , its very much appreciated

2. For people interested in stock android, would the play store have problems staying up to date or will the apps have problems updating.
It shouldn't have problems updating, this method disables the OTA apps.

Yes, almost all Android devices allow you to do this. In fact most phones will give you even more options. Amazon Fire Tablets are actually pretty locked down and I think newer versions don't let you do some of this anymore. That's why, even though you can buy some of them for around $20, it just isn't worth it anymore.

Can i run the mtk-su file using Windows 10? I have a 32-bit system (Tab 7 2019 edition). I downloaded the file and I can't open up the command window. The file won't open up in application I have on my PC. Very confused.
mtk-su doesn't run on your desktop, you put it on the tablet and run it.

I'm on Manjaro and the adb caused an error so checked notes and installed adb which did the push
also the other python files failed
error: target not found: python3-serial
error: target not found: android-tools-adb
error: target not found: android-tools-fastboot
so installed android-tools
I've tried the ./mtk-su many times and wont get a shell

Hope you can help since you already got into the part where you already pushed the mtk-su to the device. I have live USB debian and tried the push command. but it does not seem to see the device (/data/local/tmp). device is already connected to the PC, any other steps I am missing?

This is a great tutorial, and a very useful repo. My problem is my kindle doesn't have the 'cut' command for some reason. I guess I'll have to disable some of these services by hand...

I am unable to update the apps or install apps from Fdroid though. I get a message that the security settings of the tablet prevent installation of apps from an unknown source.

You can run Linux on windows pc using Live usb( booting the os in flashdrive)
