Did CSS down here in New Zealand. Level 1 especially made a 'night and day' difference to me as a very new rider. Went there stiff, scared to lean, and slowing down the traffic on the road. Left the course loose on the bars and guiding the bike rather than wrestling with it; new scuff marks on the peg feelers and tyre wear where there hadn't been any before; and plenty of margin left when keeping up with the flow of traffic. Highly recommended and well worth the price of entry.
great video, been trying to make this a military standard course over the last few years due to the amount of service personnel getting injured or killed on bikes. hopefully will be getting on one soon. keep up the great work.
Wonderful to see you had a great day and I've heard excellent things about CSS - here in the US and elsewhere. It's on the list for next year. Safe travels.
Aye cheers John, it’s a good day out. Level 1 is very basic, but worth doing to progress through to the next levels. Hoping to do Level 2 next year all going well 👍
Nice video and i think that winning that day in front of all the street bikes with a GS must be perfect and crazy for them but they don't know who you are and what bike you had before 👌
Ha Ha, that’s part of the reason I love the GS so much, because people automatically assume you’re a certain type of rider just because you’re on one. Then the bends start.... 👊✊✊✊😉🤣
I get that this is an impossible ask but a voice over while you did the course would have been amazing. I’ve learned loads from your other videos where you are talking and riding.
I have the Insta OneX camera as well. Love it but I do find that the battery is very temperature sensitive. When it gets cold, it does not last long at all. If I put it into one of the waterproof or weatherproof containers that they provide, the small amount of extra insulation does help it to last longer. Took it to Antarctica and had fun filming penguins in 360.
Wow I bet that was a heck of an experience David! Yep I’ve found that too with the ONEX battery life. LambChops and I both used oneX’s on our recent Bike Vs Plane challenge and his Lusted the whole race whereas mine only lasted about 35 mins?
@@teapotone I plug my ONEX into a USB socket on my GS, or using a right angle head USB cable plugged into an external power bank to keep it running during filming. Just wrap the cable tightly around the around the selfie stick and it's also not visible in the footage. Wrap it the right way and it also stops the ONEX unscrewing itself from the selfie stick
I did lvl1 at Brands back in May in pissing rain. I do want to go back for lvl2 I think and was looking at bedford, but tbh I'm not sure I got much from the day I could apply.elsewhere
Depends what level of riding you’re at to start with I think. If you’re a seasoned rider and have done some track days before then level 1 is basic for sure. But you get out what you put in so I just take it as it is and go right back to basics, trying to improve what I already do. From what I’ve heard the levels increase in technicality, and as even the BSB and WSBK riders use the school to improve their own riding, I’m pretty sure anyone can get something out of it if they’re willing to learn. 👍
Well done Bruce, did a similar day at Caldwell, no star for me though. Interested in your mike set up, what does the box do on your helmet, the GoPro lead in and then how does it work? Looking at trying a throat mike set up, have you done that route? Cheers and ride safe.
Hi Derek, The box is just the GoPro mic adaptor you have to use for GoPro Hero 5’s and above. I just wire a mic into the helmet lining then plug it straight into the adaptor which in turn plugs into the GoPro. I’ll be doing a vid on my whole setup before Crimbo 👍
teapotone evidently it’s local council and someone complained many yrs ago. If it triggers more than x amount of times council are notified. So Bedford set level lower as a precaution. One of these not in my back garden dogooders
Always fancied CSS but it sucks they don't do Knockhill, which is my nearest circuit. TBH they probably tried it a couple of times & thought - "the weather is too shite up here, what's the point?!"😐
I'm at Mallory Park on Wednesday doing the IAM skills day thing. I'm not really interested in track racing but maybe this will change my mind, especially if I go on the Harley :D Great video Bruce....well except for the dodgy music lol :)
I am surprised they are still able to have bikes on track at Bedford. I stopped doing trackdays there 10 years ago because they were so paranoid and hypocritical about noise and you spent so much of your day being told off by nanny for using a bike that already passed noise testing. It is almost like they want you to book the trackday, pay for it and then push the bike around the track making broom broom noises quietly.
Thank you for posting. Great video! This the classe(s) taught by Keith Code? Was he present for the festivities? Congratulations on your rider of the day. You must be a good rider, but I would think the beard might have played a roll. :)
Yes this is the school started by Keith Code, but unfortunately no he wasn’t there. He does a lot with the original California Superbike School Out in the USA. 👍
Thanks bud, not sure about the 360? It was still ‘recording’ when I finished the session, as in the green light was still flashing and the display showed it recording. But when I checked the footage on the SD card later on my Mac, only the first 5 mins or so were recorded??? It was due a firmware update so I’ve done that, and used it in the recent bike Vs Plane challenge I took part in. This time the battery went flat at around 35 mins in, but LambChops insta360 ONEX lasted the whole ride??? 🤷♂️
@@teapotone Something Insta360 say to do to preserve the battery is to take it out and reinsert it after each video as otherwise the bluetooth drains the battery. I tend to leave the battery out of mine until I wish to use it incase I accidently switch it on in my bag. Am guessing settings may also affect battery life too, I record at 5.7k 30fps and on my last adventure I made one battery last the 3 days, but was only recording short videos. I think on my trackday I got 3 x 15min sessions out of a battery at those settings. I saw LCR's new vid on his H2 where he was playing with it, he got some great angles too! :-)
Thanks bud, you know I’ve no idea actually 😬 These days Insurance’s companies will cover you on track but you have to take out specific cover normally. Always worth just checking with your own insurance to make sure
I can answer that - no. You're on private land using the machine at a race school. You're meant to get separate insurance. The folks at Bmoto dona good deal
WELL DONE !! love your videos keep it going ... how much did you give Mark the instructor ??? I am going to joint the CLAN , because i want to keep watching your channel THANKS
I just had a look at the site, you need to go to the specific dates for when is available and it says there. For example for Donny on 1st Oct it says from £359 👍
Your certainly getting out and about Big Bruce!! Got a question for ya though... I noticed the peak on your helmet moving A bit, do you get much Resonance from it? Ie vibration or noise? I’ve got a scorpion and I can feel it vibrating, it only disappears if I touch the peak Thanks mate keep up the great videos, see ya on the ferry in 3 weeks😎
Cheers Paul, No I don’t get any noise or vibration off the peak at all? It’s a good lid, bit heavy but I like the look and I’ve had no issues with it. I need to replace it really and will probably just get the same again 👍
I've done Levels 1 & 2. Level 2 on my Indian Scout. Fantastic days out, but, unfortunately they no longer exist here in the UK. They blame Brexit. I only found out recently at Motorcycle Live at the NEC. Shame.
Did two IAM skills days at Croft Circuit, I’m by no means a fast rider but even I bubbled my tyres and rode the bike to the edge. Learnt so much as to how being fast is about positioning and being smooth not just speed. Never thought track time would do so much to increase my confidence on the road, also taught me that a fat bloke on a GS can keep up with the fast boys on their sports bikes, well on the bends anyway. Would recommend similar events to anybody...
Absolutely, the IAM Skills days are awesome for road riding, I’ve done Thruxton and loved it. The Superbike school is more track skills biased but you can still take things away for your road riding 👍
Great vid but just one thing, if you say your not getting paid to do the vid but you say you got the day for free. That in my eyes is getting paid no 🤔🤔
Ha Ha yeah I know? It passed the noise test in order to get on the circuit in the first place??? Amazing that it’s still too loud even with the baffle IN!
@@teapotone Jack Scott on his Ducati screamed past you and that Ducati doesn't get any noise level warnings??? How the hell is your GS louder than that!
