    Afternoon Bruce, Slabside pilot here! I had no idea I was riding with a RUclips Megastar...! Was great to meet you, hope your long ride home wasn't too taxing. Well done for capturing the footage at 5.45 of me nearly dropping the bike in the paddock, and apologies again for getting a bit close at 16.20 when coming round the outside at Chris Curve, not my intention I can assure you. Glad you had a great day, I certainly did! Ciao.

    Fair play to those tyres holding up to that much cornering and whilst not becoming stetchy, I wouldn't have thought a blocky tyre would take that much of a workout. The structured learning shows in yours and Lamb chops riding, not ragged instead just smooth and methodical. Although I've never been to them, I think a day with California school would prevent a lot of accidents you see at the Garden variety trackdays.

    Great job! I have completed Levels 1 to 4 (4 several times) with the CSS (Ducati days) and watched loads of student videos...this is undoubtedly the best, most informative one I have seen. I reckon it will be responsible for encouraging many others to visit the school. Your Level 1 video is also useful (especially the bit about top box security 😉 😂), but this is much better. I definitely need to add some race school time to my “to do list” not to go fast on the road because I am a very cautious rider, just to gain confidence in the event that I find a bend I have to lean into whilst riding new roads.
    I was impressed that you used the GS because I have a Tiger900 RallyPro so I would be wary of how far I could lean it over.

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  3 года назад

      Cheers Paul,
      Re the Mutants, I’ve had them on since Feb and done well over 6K miles on them, including track days at Brands and Cadwell, where they performed without any issues on the GS. I’ve ridden in temps down to -15 on a wintry run to Sth West Wales in Feb, and they performed well on the snow/icy backroads, as well as the slush-filled motorways.
      I’ve not tested them up in the beautiful Spanish mountains sadly, but the tyres were pushed hard on track so got nice and hot and showed no signs of slippage or excessive movement.
      I’d be happy to have them on again and am eager to see how the Meridians do in similar circumstances 👍

    • @paulstevens215
      @paulstevens215 3 года назад +1

      Well decided today to follow your lead and go for the Meridians instead of the Mutants. Will be interested to see what you think of them on the road. I will say it was made an easier choice as the Meridians were £30 cheaper than the Mutants. Off to Guildford from Sussex to get them fitted Friday hopefully.

    Looks much more relaxed with a slower build-up than the (Yamaha sponsored) one I did in France earlier this year on an extremely technical track (Ledenon). Clear indicators on your track with less (perhaps no?) emphasis on getting the knee down. I was quite put off racing after my course, but this one looks more like something I might enjoy.

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  3 года назад +1

      Cheers Nick,
      When I did Level 1 I was scraping my knees everywhere but it actually slowed me down as I was concentrating on that rather than the technical aspects of my riding.
      This time I concentrated totally on trying to get the corners right and I don’t think I touched down at all tbh 🤷‍♂️👍

    • @teapotone

      Ha Ha I’d love to race but lack two fundamental criteria:
      1: I’m skint so couldn’t afford a set of tyres let alone a set each weekend.
      2: the skill. I get eaten alive in the intermediate group on a track day so would be destroyed in a race 😂🤦‍♂️

    A super days riding from you there Bruce, well done, Caldwell is 40 miles from me, been on a couple of training days, super circuit. Having the K3 fitted soon, is the K5 worth the extra cash? Just got a pair of Mutants to go on my GS and looking forward to giving them a go, how’s the mileage stacking upon the Mutants , any wet rides with them ? As always stay safe and enjoy.

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  3 года назад +1

      Hi Derek, personally I’d 100% recommend the K5 over the K3. Not only is the footage markedly better quality, but also the audio seems to be better, and the Wi-fi is much faster - meaning it works a lot better with the app.
      I’ve ridden the Mutants in all weathers no from -15 in the winter through to near on 30 degrees in our ‘summer’. I’ve ridden them in torrential rain and I don’t ha e a single complaint for them, even on the track they didn’t skip a beat - very impressed.
      Mileage-wise I’ve done about 5,000 miles on them so far and they probably have about 500 miles left in the rear I reckon.
      For the GS and for Road-Riding I’d still take the Dunlop Roadsmart 3’s over the Mutant though as I know they will take the punishment of being pushed hard in the Spanish mountains without any issue

      Andy definitely isn’t in the back pocket bud, he just goes for more middle ground whereas I’ll just say it as I see it.
      I have the Shoei Hornet ADV and have never had any issues with them on track or at high speeds. I think if you have a neck that’s not a twig, you should be fine😉

      The faster Wi-fi of the K5 just makes it so much easier to use with the app, and also the external mic of the K5 seems to produce better audio too
