These chats with Neevesy ,are some of the best videos MCN has put out.
i guess Im randomly asking but does anybody know a way to log back into an Instagram account??
I somehow lost my password. I would love any assistance you can give me!
@Ayaan Landyn instablaster :)
He's quality. Excellent. Direct, clear, and is so able to explain things. No waffle.
This guy is becoming a legend. Eminently watchable content that leaves you knowing something every time. The dogs conkers.
Andy Satch THATS just what I’ve been thinking but couldn’t articulate it as well as you have 😂👍🏻
Andy Satch - He’s been a legend for a while now!
been a legend for a while now.. i would say he got the superiority now when it comes to bike review etc on youtube. a veteran.. but still the quality of the video and audio is like im living in the more or less 2010s.. but the quality of the content of the video is top notch though
I should clarify, he's been finally recognised by me as a legend! :)
I remember Neevsey getting the position following the audition format, well deserved, guy’s done well 👍
I love these vids he's doing , more so than some reviews he does wich are so short. good work!
Brilliant information, seriously considering doing the RH race school after this shitty lockdown. Good work!
Me too
I've done the Ron Haslam race school.
Superb experience.
I'd never done a trackday and just being able to turn up and get everything given to me to ride was fantastic.
This direction is great Neevesy. Reviews are all well and good but this is the sort of juicy insight folks are hungry for. Get your own channel and fly free.
Ben he has his own channel, but doesn’t post much on it. I guess his hobby/job is riding bikes, not making and editing video’s
Fall out with his employer ? Hmm Ben 🤔
Have already watched this twice. Will likely watch again many more times in the days to come. 👍
Just wanted to say thank you for this well presented, informative, educational and down to earth video. I'm not a person that comment about videos so that's saying something.
Being a bike rider for over 25 years, I just came across this video by accident this has to be some of the best advice I’ve seen. I could picture everything he was explaining. I can’t wait to consciously apply it. Keep up the great work! 👍
I was thinking the exact same thing, he paints a great relatable mental pitcher.
I look forward to these advise videos. Great stuff 👍
Everything you said on this video it felt like you was talking to me riding with me on track especially opening the throttle FULL...WOW....And I am a late braker and slow coming out and I know its fear of the full throttle and not knowing will I make the next corner or not make it an Highside.....BUT AMAZING ADVICE...THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
These are fast becoming a 'must watch' for me. First passed my test in 2004, bought a CBR600RR, then I got married, I couldn't justify the extra expense with our first daughter on the way so sold the bike in 2006 and regretted it ever since. In my 40th year I got back on an RR last July. Films like this are hugely encouraging and have given me a load of tools to make me safer on the road and (hopefully) faster on track. Keep them coming Neevsey, they're excellent👌🏻
Neevsy is as articulate as Simon and as passionate as Sylvan. I’m really enjoying the content. Thanks
I want to hang out with Neevsy
Absolute gems in there Neevsey. Some great tips for a novice on track like me. Also some jewels for the road too.
Thank you for your time and know-how 👍
Silvains channel is great too. Cheers
I am really thankful for the lockdown, we get all these nice vlogs.
Looking forward to trying this out! Cheers for the video. Would love a similar video based on road riding and how much of this is sensible to transfer if not all of it haha
Loving these vids, Rocket Ron's school on the menu asap...cheers.
I just did a small ride with one exception. I bent my inside arm during corners... Wow, now I have to incorporate it all together, step by step. From one guy, thank you.
Spot on apsolute brilliant video really informative perfect for me thinking of doing a track day at 16
So a lot of other RUclips channels are doing these sorts of "to camera" chats but these ones are gold, Neevesy gets you hooked in straight away, i love this stuff and can't get enough. Keep it up.
Thank you for your time 👊
Lots to take on board and wonderfully presented, a class act, thank you
Neevsey even though I have road experience (5years) and have done off-road enduro. want to get into track days. What do you feel will be a good first track day bike to learn the basics. Kind regards Rob
Older gen CBR600RR, R6, ZX6R, GSXR600 or maybe a slightly modded cb500
You can take a look at the channel: Life at lean. Very informative.
Frank Eichhorn when you say older gen r6. I can get my hands on a 99 carb model. Should this be suitable as there is little or no driver aids or slipper clutch etc cheers rob
@@theoldskoolboyzzzz6958 I would personally go for a slightly newer model, something like an 03-04.
@@frankeichhorn7979 I actually just guided my gf into buying a 2003 CBR600RR track bike; I've been doing track days on my road bike (Tuono V4) but bought a Pani959 last year and made a track-only bike out of it. The Pani felt underpowered and sometimes agonisingly slow compared to the Aprilia, but I ended up doing the exact same lap time... which is still much slower than my mate (experienced rider on a heavily modded CBR600RR)... so, long story short: the Honda 600 should be a good beginner's bike and still provide fun to more experienced riders ;)
I could listen to this guy all day, makes complete sense and very watchable, thank you Michael Neeves and MCN
What a beautiful explanation especially off the throttle on the corners , thanks bud
Ron Haslam school - I went there for my first time on track. You can use their bikes and their clothing gear. I thought it was excellent. Easy to recommend.
Just to clear something up.....being in too high of a gear does NOT increase torque. It lowers it. But everything else you're saying about easier to spin up, etc. is true
I thought the same thing. I don’t understand his wording there. Surely a highside is more likely if you make a mistake in the powerband, rather than lower in the revs where the bike is more gutless. Not that fireblades are gutless. I have also never ridden a superbike round a track.
@@jayflash2035 it's actually the opposite, which is why road riders on track are slower and more vulnerable to begin with. I can see why you'd think it's counter-intuitive. A highside is actually more likely at lower revs and very difficult to control. It's safer going through a corner at higher revs for the reasons I mention.
I always liked the reviews and especially the recent videos that Neevesy is doing in the downstairs toilet at home. This one made me laugh out loud, "get used to the violence" ... so true!
" because you're on the throttle, you're pushing the bike into the tarmac and you're ruining all your ground clearance"
18:35
I thought these bike gain ground clearance on throttle. Could anyone explain his stance on this?
You and Guintoli need to do some videos together!!! He's been at Donnington recently as well!
Much helpful . your wording and explaining is gold. I'm looking to do my first track day once I take delivery of the new cbr1000rrr sp here in the US.
So good. A typical youtuber would have padded that out into like 20 videos but here it's just bam, top stuff start to finish and very useful. Will have to do the race school ASAP.
Watching this back to back and every time I am learning something new ....big thanks sir ...safe miles from India.
A fantastic well explained Video. Thanks.
Excelent explanation of riding, thanks
Very true, thanks for sharing. One of my best channels 👊🏼👍🏼
Imagine doing a few track sessions with Neevesy watching you and then giving you instruction.
Who is the motoGP rider making tutorial videos?
Benedict Kendrick sylvain guintoli
Outstanding informative video! I will be putting this information to work the next time on track.🙂
Would you be open to taking questions on track riding technique while we are all on lockdown?
Own channel. Needs to be done. This is awesome content and so digestible. You know it’s quality when I can listen on my headphones while driving and visualise the ride. Thanks for sharing your experience and insights.
Does this technique, about not opening the throtle before reaching the apex, go against what other schools teach about "Twist of the throtle" or is it just a more advanced riders subject? Thank you very much for your insights
watersofthesouth other schools teach to accelerate while turning in? I’ve never heard anyone worth listening to say otherwise
@@shannonc8759 California Superbike School if I'm not mistaken. They teach that as soon as the bike it tipped over you start twisting the throttle to unload the front wheel and move some weight on the rear
IIRC ... they (California Superbike) taught us to brake later (not early) approaching a turn, do a "quick turn" via counter steer, maintain entry speed to just past apex, then slowly add power on way out until fully upright. They were not proponents of trail braking. I only did the one day course so the second more advance day may have been different. Regardless, everything they teach is based on the Twist of the Wrist book written by the founder Keith Code.
@@windyrun7979 Thank you for your input. Did they teach you to add power after the apex? If this is the case then is doesn't seem different to what M.Neeves says here
@@watersofthesouth Yes, roll on throttle after apex corresponding to bringing bike upright. One difference, if I understood neevesy correctly, was he is a trail braking proponent whereas CA Superbike was not- at least in my class. I specifically mentioned I used trail braking and ??? Keith's son who was my classroom instructor -- seemed to re-emphasize we should focus on counter steering. My class was not the top level. I think we were level 2 if I remember correctly.
Doing track days years in advanced and still found this really useful👍
Thank you, can’t wait until I can get back on the road and track and apply these tips
These are excellent mate, keep em up.
Goodonya Neevesy. Looking forward to trying out these techniques. Cheers.
Loving these vids Neevesy, thanks, keep them coming! 👍
I live in Colorado...USA. Haven't been on the track for club racing or trackdays in prob 12 years. I want to go to this school. LOL. Solid solid video my man. Well done.
Amazing, it's like you are talking directly to me, half of the things you have mentioned are happening to me and my last 2 instructors didn't mention any of these mistakes, but I understand now some of these mistakes, next track day I would have in mind each one of these improve points and check if I can correct the mistakes, thanks for such a wonderful video.
Excellent video! Need to get myself on an Elite day with Neevesy!
Superb advice thank you!
Thanks, a great video as ever. I was watching moto vudu the other evening. I saw you going around with Simon. It must have been fun?
Excellent!
Loved the part on the gears, since this has been something I've been thinking/puzzled about.
Thanks.
I'd been riding for 32 years when I was bought a day at Ron Haslams school in 2008, I learned more about riding in that one day than I had in the previous 30 years!
exactly the same teachings as simon crafar's tutorial. the foundation of track riding. good vid neezy
..and there it is.. he just said "simon crafar youtube videos" right after finishing my comment.
Brilliant video! What about an A2 bike (cbr500r) with next to no straight line speed 🤣
So good, it just shows how much to learn all the time. Very good advices.
Absolutely loving these videos Michael. Very informative and excellent content. I did my first track day in December of last year and I learnt sooo much about my own riding and picked up many things that I want to try and improve upon next time. Thanks Michael, Keep up the good work!
Been to riding schools, read books, watched videos, etc. first time someone explained so many important topics In a concise fashion that actually made sense to me. More please.
The best no BS guide to being safe and fast on track I've seen on RUclips. Loving these intimate videos Neesvy, top advice delivered perfectly. I've done Ron's school twice in the Premiers and looking forward to stepping up to the Elite soon - fingers crossed I have you as my tutor.
The young kids are fast on track . Lost on the street.
Fantastic guidance, great vid ✌️👏
Great stuf. Thanks.
Love these tips. Keep them coming. Brilliant 👌👍👍
Really detailed yet easy to understand advice! Better than anything I’ve heard in the couple of track training session I’ve had. Thanks,
Why did a "TAMPAX" ad showed up while watching THIS particular video!?
For real!
When I started trail braking it took 10 seconds off my lap time at Phillip Island
Great vid ✊
Thankyou so much for making this video Neevesy! I feel I've learnt so much from it. I've just had two track days cancelled due to the situation but will be watching this over a few times before I eventually get to ride. I have watched the others you mentioned so I have a great chance of something sinking in to try! Thankyou.
same situation here (Belgium) ; next one was scheduled on May 4, I fear that one will be cancelled too :(
So helpful. Can't wait to get out and implement some of this to my track riding.
So much valuable information,
I certainly appreciate it my brother!
So good, I watched it again. Thx!
Another great episode. Look forward to the next one 👍
A slow rider, but for very many years (44 years) I enjoy listening to those who can ride fast & safely. I’m fine just being reasonably safe. It’s still fun.
Wow youre amazing, man. Thanks for those awesome tips really.
I have watched a LOT of Neevesy's video. They are always informative always helpful, and one was the reason I brought a GSXR750. Thank you for the time, effort and knowledge that you give back the motorcycle racers and hobbyist. It IS appreciated very much.
Neevesy... love your work. Serious knowledge. Fuckin great video. Learnt alot. And oh yes, I'll be coming to Donnington Park
What about down shifting before a corner? I have a 2011 Daytona 675 with quick shift but without a bleeper and I just did my first track day in Jerez. Should I rev match or should I down shift in a standard way releasing the clutch smoothly? By the way, I reved match through out the entire track day... I hope you or someone could help me in this matter. Cheers and stay home (for now...)!!!
I would really like to tank you for all of that!!!!! Man, wow well done you!! Maybe you could also explain how at this time 120000 people have watched this and 3400 went through the TROUBLE to hit the like button!!!! nuts
Are there other race schools? California uk went bust, so I'm guessing no....
Keep em coming this has been brilliant so far 👍
Clip-on or lavaliere microphone, please? Otherwise...as in Now, you sound as if you are in a Shed ! Sham on MCN's accountants. And, I respect whatever you have to say.
Enjoyed that video. Learned a lot. Having a go at track riding in September. Thanks
are you off throttle completely or just cracking it maintaining speed thru the corner?........yeah this is so different from any riding ive done......what a trip, the boy knows his stuff, always excellent videos
Hey Michael, I follow you from a distance. Although I’d love to have some training from you, I’m not sure that’s possible. Can your recommend a good skills training school in the Netherlands that you know of?
great video. made me think about lots of my errors. however one question, regarding low rpm (lazy gear) during turn. while i understand the "be your own traction control" argument, i think the "in lower revs the bike is at max torque" argument is just physically wrong. while the engine does have max torque at medium rpm, what arrives at the tire also depends on the gear. say you are at constant speed in a turn, giving full throttle at say 7k RPM (max engine torque) in 3rd gear gives you less torque at the tire than giving full throttle at say 11k RPM (max engine power) in 2nd gear. maybe there is something else at play? please explain
Outstanding as always 👍🏻
What about Keith code the first to train top racers its a twist of the wrist.
Don't take this out of context. But the only reason I watch MCN is because of Michael Neeves. Love your work mate. Come to Brisbane, Australia 🇦🇺
K1300S rider. Have to look at what I'm doing. I owned this bike for five years now and I'm really comfortable with it. Never done track day, always wanted to but circumstances have not been favorable. For what it is, it's quite a nimble bike, I'm sure not like a sports bike but I feel confident with it. (Not sure if I'm doing it right) but in traffic with heavy rain, I've always softened the suspension and retarded a gear. My idea has been that there's a bit more contact with the surface of the road and as the gear is retarded, you can always add more throttle when needed and engine brake if needed. Am I right?
The off throttle turning will only work on bikes with stiffer suspension setups. That is the only thing I would add to this otherwise fantastic video. I own a Yamaha MT-07 and during my last track day I gave my best to incorporate this technique, but with my stock suspension and stock rear shock, very soft that they are, I was bouncing all over the place, the bike felt very hard to controll in the corners so I had no choice but to resort to trail braking more. Mind you, the track I go to is rather old, patchy and bumpy.
It will be very interesting for me to try and do it again once I get the supersport 600cc I'm buying with good suspensions since I plan to dedicate more to track riding.
Thank you Michael for all the amazing contribution to motorcycling.
Managed a 1.58 at Ron’s school on the blade last year. Can’t wait for July to ride the new blade.
Amazing school and instructors!
Watching after my first track day. This is very helpful looking back to the day and for my next track day. Thanks very much.
The haslam racing school has closed, sadly! Is there any bike track day/schools out there? Anyone recommend one, ideally nearer to Warwickshire.....
Where is Haslam Race School located..?
I have physical limitations that impact my riding position... So some of my initial 'training' will have to be how to do the most effective use of my body within what I am physically able to do.
I rode Phillip Island this week (what a dream). I really really wish I had seen this first. The only thing I feel I was getting right was body positioning, watching this. More than anything, I was getting throttle in the corners completely wrong.
Great video!
Fantastic as always. Done Ron Haslam School a few times (with Danny Webb in Elite last time) and it really is brilliant. Not had the pleasure of Mr Neeves yet though!
25:24 i'm a beginner rider, the first time i've done that was on a Tuono V4. At that moment i though, "this bike is scary AF!!!"
I'm still not use to that kind amount of power. I haven't done a lot of full throttle even on track till i sold it last year.
Brilliant video again thanks Michael x
Great vid Neevesy! Best one yet!
I think most of us super bikers should probably start off on track with a 125 or 250, I've always liked this idea.
