    Just sharing info on the Garbaruk kit. I was having A LOT of noise problems with it. Couldn’t figure it out. I thought it was the bearings in the T47 BB. I went as far as buying a new BB and 11-46 cassette. Went to the bike shop they couldn’t figure it out either.
    The Culprit: Cassette Spacer.
    Removed the spacer, did some tweaks to the derailleur and that solved the problem! ( the Garbaruk works fine with SRAM rival 1x11 group by the way)
    Great build James! I got the gold cassette and cage too!

    Oh yeah; bring on more Time bikes and other Time products! They are so nice, yet so rare at the same time. Unfortunately, I never had the luck to ride a Time bike, never even seen one for sale here, where I live. Saw some on the used market, but never a new bike in an actual store.
    I hope they will make a successor to Skylon; a true aero machine, with fully integrated cables, awesome geometry and speed.

    I went a Garbaruk 11 speed 50t cassette for my gravel bike with a modified Rival derailleur, it worked but shifting was terrible and I couldn't tune it, after only a few rides I modified my shifter and put 12 speed sram eagle on and it worked a fair bit better but it was never quite right, turns out my derailleur hanger was bent from brand new. But it does show that if your hanger isn't perfectly straight you will have more problems with Garbaruk.
    The symptom of my bent derailleur was I needed more cable tension when in the smaller gears, but then it needed less cable tension in the larger gears, obviously you can only adjust cable tension 1 way 😅

    I'm torn between the ADH and ADHX for my next bike. I've got a Litespeed Watia gravel bike so I don't need it specifically for gravel. I just want to run 30's or 32's for a more comfortable and confident ride.

  • @drouleau

    That's a gorgeous bike, although I thought it would be a lot lighter. My Merlin Sandstone (titanium) weighs in at 19 lbs with GRX Di2 2x, and has clearance for 50mm tires. I'd love a bike that was 2-3 lbs lighter for faster/hillier events, but the Merlin is pretty bombproof. I broke a stupid light Tune stem on one of my road bikes after hitting a pothole in the road descending a mountain (fortunately I didn't crash), so while I do like "light", I also like "durable" lol. I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've heard anyone on RUclips (or really anywhere) refuse to do a review because they're affiliated with the brand/sales.

    • @JustRideAdelaide
      @JustRideAdelaide  Год назад +1

      There's a weenie build somewhere in my ADHX but the stem, bars, and drivetrain are pretty hefty. The stem is basically brick all by itseld. Over time I'll probably trim some of the weight when parts need replacing but for now I'm happy enough!

    Space between frontwheel and downtube is very narrow. Great aerodynamic feature for a racebike but seems a bit strange on a gravelbike because of the dirt that could quickly get stuck. Did you had issues with that? Other than that, great build and very nice frame and bike overall!

  • @andrewlucas246
    @andrewlucas246 Год назад

    I've got a similar combo- big wide rims and a frame that's rated for a 38. I've got a few concerns though and I'm wondering if you share them:
    - I feel like the 35 bumped up to 38+ makes for a great, responsive and well supported tyre. However as it inflates the tyre the tread section (thicker rubber, flat protection, knobs) stays the same size and flattens out. Maybe not great for flat resistance on those shoulders and recruits your cornering knobs earlier in a lean than designed for.
    - I feel like as bigger tyres become more and more popular, 35c sizing is increasingly neglected by gravel tyre manufactures, particularly in more aggressive tread patterns. eg G one R/ Overland, Terra trail/Hardpack, Cinturato S. As more and more people say that a 40 is too small it's possible that this will dwindle further, leaving us stuck with undersized CX tyres and clunky touring tyres.
    You got any thoughts on the matter?

    • @JustRideAdelaide
      @JustRideAdelaide  Год назад +2

      Good questions, tyres are probably the most important part of a gravel build.
      Sidewall cuts don't really worry me. Sometimes shit happens and you puncture. I haven't had any issues with sidewalls when gravel riding so far so I must be riding relatively safely.
      I think there'll always be 35-38mm gravel tyres. Maybe a few options will drop off but there's a lot of gravel bikes that max out at 40mm clearance so I think the market will exist long into the future. I know that American Classic's Kimberlite is their most popular tyre and they shift a lot of 35mm units.
      The American Classics and the Pirelli Cinturato Gravel Ms give me all the grippy and speedy options I need.

    Hi great build! Im kind of new in gravel and thinking in a build, about geo, my bike will have 71ht and 74st, with 140 head lenght, 375 reach and 435chainstays
    With this numbers will be too racing bike, i will like kind of fast gravel but on long hours events so not idea if its in the middle or maybe too uncomfortable.
    About drivetrain im thinki g in firce 42t and garbaruk 10-52, since i do gravel rides with some tarmac do you think 42-10 its enought? And on the other hand in some bikepacking gravel event 42-52 you think its good call?
    Its so hard to choose, since some recomend 2x force with 36 rear, or 1x but with 10-45 cassette where the jumps between cogs are small..., even considering e13 helix 9-50....
    Will ride with 40 tires and average rider (in road use 50 34 and 11-34 cassette)
    Thanks a lot for the feedback and the help

    what'd you replace the stock magnetic fork top piece with on the deda stem? very very picky thing that doesn't stay on well... only other comment is (and i know you briefly touched on it) it's probably worth mentioning that you can put a larger 1x chainring on there without going with the SRAM Force Wide crankset setup.. you can use the standard crankset but opt for a 2mm spindle spacer on the drive side which gives you just enough clearance for a 1x 50t SRAM chainring up front.. this is how mine is setup after going down the garbaruk, rotor, oval chainring etc... rabbit hole.. components as well as emailing back and forth with Time thinking Force Wide was the only option.. cheers!

      That always depends on your expectations. The ADHX has the geometry to be a road bike and a gravel bike but personally I wouldn't do some of the multi-day trails around South Australia like the Mawson Trail that require carrying a lot of gear. It can do a lot of ordinary gravel though.
