What work? Not having a game plan and winning out of mere luck? Not having an understanding of a players role? Lewa’s 9, being unable to bring the best version of players?, inability to adapt outdated posesión against opponents that can see us coming from miles away?, people wants to bring that Xavi won the league while failing to realize that was just luck out of everyone and Madrid playing worst in the season while having a lewadoski carrying us, all went down hill when Xavi throw out nine underbus for his dumb experiment.

The difference is, Xavi strived to recreate prime Barcelona with players that aren't as talented (or more appropriately, have different strengths). Being the best midfielder in history and representing Tiki Taka, it was always going to be a losing battle without the right players. That is why Xavi was insistent this squad is not good enough. He only knows how to achieve success in one way. The 'Barca way'. Flick on the other hand represents the German philosophy. Hard work, discipline, and a plan can beat any talented team. Lest we forget 2013 Bayern demolish the same core of Barca players that won it all. Yes, they were affected by Tito and etc., but that's no excuse to lose 7-0. Flick can get the best of even average players and has a style that suits our players better. We might not have Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets to play around the press like child play. But we do have pressing monsters and technically gifted enough players to win games in other ways. It's all about perspective and approach. I don't blame Xavi. His school of thought and philosophy is not suited to the current group of players. Should he have more financial freedom, maybe he might achieve it like Pep did at City. He is the right coach at the wrong time.

Many of us believed that Xavi was the right manager for this team, but given what we’ve seen from Flick so far, I was wrong to be honest as we felt like he needed more time and should be heavily backed, his replacement has made the team much better than ever before despite having the same players from last season. He was always going to be an upgrade on him, as much as people talk about his disappointing tenure with the Germany national team as they have so many good players and it didn’t work out for him there, we ignore the fact that he was walking into one of their most difficult periods in their history and on top of that, we regularly ignore the differences between being a manager at club and international level. People will bring up the fact that “Bayern Munich had an elite team”, but alongside Pep Guardiola, Flick is one of the only managers in football history to win a sextuple (6 trophies in a span of 12 months, Bundesliga, Champions League, DFB Pokal, UEFA Super Cup, German Super Cup, and Club World Cup) and at this level, it’s so difficult to win multiple trophies in a season as it requires a team to be consistent in almost every competition they play in and he did all of this in a span of a year even if it was during COVID. Anyways, given his track record, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he’s doing so well at Barcelona right now as what makes his impact on the team very impressive is that, they barely made any transfers, they didn’t sign a CDM or a left winger which are 2 areas of the team that needed to be strengthened, the only player they signed was someone they realistically didn’t need, but has done well every time he’s played, they’ve had so many injuries to multiple starters, he hasn’t even had a full strength squad to choose from, they made some questionable decisions off the pitch that made a lot of their fans upset and they’re absolutely cooking right now as they’re top of La Liga at the moment as they’ve won 8 out of 9 games, they won their first 7 games of the season, they’ve been scoring goals for fun left right and center, they’ve played some of the best brand of attacking football we’ve seen from them since MSN, there’s a purpose about the way they play whether they’re defending with a high line, pressing and winning the ball back in different areas of the pitch and generating a lot of chances from an attacking perspective. If they continue to play like this, not only could they win the league, they should be a genuine contender for the champions league as this is a competition they’ve struggled in for years and now that they have a proper manager, their results in Europe should improve hopefully. Unlike certain teams who have a plethora of superstars, they’re not playing haram ball and they don’t rely on pens and despite having so many injuries, they’re doing what people expect Real Madrid to do after they signed Mbappe as everyone thought they would be unstoppable and that football is over, it’s been the complete opposite so far.
As early as it still is in the season, this is the sort of football that we expect Barcelona to play week in week out as the thing with Xavi is that yes they were able to get results and win games as that’s what matters at the end of the day, but scraping results against teams they should be beating isn’t always good enough, it’s not sustainable as being the Barca manager means that you have to win games and challenge for trophies in a certain way that’s attractive to the fans and can also be beneficial to the team. In Yamal Lewandowski and Raphinha, on current form they have the best attack in Europe they have their own MSN, their number 9 is back to scoring goals at a consistent rate while the 2 wingers have created the most big chances out of any player in Europe this season, I mean, who would’ve thought that their front 3 would have more goals than Real Madrid’s attack that has guys like Mbappe Vini and Rodrygo and the difference is that they’re not relying on penalties, Olmo has been a solid addition to the team and has been a goalscoring threat before his injury which was unfortunate, at the same time not a surprise since he’s an excellent player, but doesn’t have a good injury record, Pedri has been pulling the strings in midfield he’s playing in a deeper role, yet is still able to produce his magic on the ball, Bernal was doing well before his ACL injury, Casado has been a revelation in the double pivot in midfield and seriously how do these guys keep finding gems from their academy and with the way he’s playing, I wonder what his role in the team will be when everyone is healthy as it’s difficult to leave him on the bench as going into the start of the season, he wasn’t expected to play a lot of minutes, due to injuries he’s come in and has stepped up. Kounde has been a consistent performer as a right back, Cubarsi at the age of 17 is honestly too good for his age and he’s only going to get better from here and alongside him at the back, in the midst of their injury situation in defense, Martinez has also been excellent as well and they have a solid defensive line and they’re crucial in their buildup play and keep in mind that going into the season, they were their only 2 natural center backs who were available as their defense had a teenager and someone who’s 4th or 5th choice when everyone is fit. Watching the way in which Barcelona are dominating other teams making it look so easy, just imagine if Flick has a full strength squad as they’re playing on another level right now and from here, it’ll only get better for them.

It feels great when you are winning, with Xavi - it was the same thing in the beginning. However, you can do only so much with an injured squad, like we saw what happened with Osasuna when you use youngsters that are not ready but pushed to play big football. But still though to be honest - the biggest flex Barca has right now is the "La Masia", for which neither Xavi nor Hansi is responsible. That being said, you can see the two different styles of play and as a Barca fan you want to see this attacking football, so I'm glad to see Hansi, but I will never forget how Xavi set the pillars of this team with - Gavi, Pedri, Yamal, Cubarsi, Fort, Casado and so on.
Great video, wish you all the best! :)

As great of a job Hansi Flick has done at Barcelona, I think there’s a certain section of their fans who are ignoring the impact and foundation that Xavi set for the team’s growth and while they’re playing some of the best football we’ve seen from them in years, he played a massive role in their current run of form. What Xavi did for this team in the short term was impressive considering the fact that when he first took over, not only were they in 9th place in La Liga but they weren’t in the best situation financially as they were basically broke, it was difficult for them to register new signings as they had to scrape other players’ wages and had to offload them in order to balance the books. In spite of all of this, he heavily relied on the younger players from the academy and it was obvious that they were building something special as they went from mid table to 2nd place and then the following season, they won their first league title in 4 years and while they didn’t win La Liga by playing the “Barca way” as in the past, they’ve been known for having a dominant attack, their defensive solidarity and ability to grind out results without playing at their best was key to their title win and also it was a sign of things to come for them. From giving the likes of Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi their debuts and are both regular starters in the team at the age of 17 to signing one of the best number 9s of our generation in Robert Lewandowski and the likes of Raphinha and Jules Kounde who’ve also elevated the overall quality of the squad and the arrival of Dani Olmo later on.
Last season was more complicated for Barcelona as they were riddled with injuries, they were very inconsistent one game they look like a world class team, the next game, they look all over the place and as soon as they found their best run of form, they were already out of the title race in La Liga and they were eliminated from the Champions League mainly because of an unfortunate red card, Xavi ball wasn’t working, even though they managed to win a lot of games, it wasn’t all that convincing and with all the talent they have at their disposal, there was a feeling that they should be playing much better as it looked as if he had taken the club as far as he could go as he reached his ceiling and had a lot of limitations tactically since he was a young manager and even though the club convinced him to stay after he decided he wanted to leave on his own terms, he was still sacked and yes he wasn’t wrong in discussing their financial situation as literally everyone knows that, but at the same time, as a manager; he cannot publicly come out and say that “they cannot compete with Real Madrid”. As good of a job he did given their circumstances and what he had to deal with, there was a feeling that he wasn’t the right manager to take them to the next level since yes they won the league, but Barcelona are a club that has ambition to do well in the champions league and they were regularly coming up short in Europe despite his best efforts.

Xavi wasn’t bad, he was a big part to us getting that la liga back but he had bad team rotation leading to the same players playing constantly,
he had favorites and clearly didn’t use some players for some reasons, his tactics were good but it seems he expected the kids to do what he could possibly do,
experience is what he lacks but I’m not gonna trash on him, he pulled barca from a place of darkness 🫡 I respect that,
Flick looks to be better right now, he knows in this new champions league system players will get tired , he simplified the tactics for players like lewy and pedri to make a comeback, raphinia who could press in Leeds is back from the dead in this high press system , best Brazilian this beginning of the season, The key to see if flick will truly make a difference is in the next three matches, let’s hope it’s good news 😢

Difference between Xavi and Hansi is that, Xavi believe in outdated Barcelona DNA style of football which is slow horizontal attacking ball possession, that is why Barcelona attacking was predictable and our opponents would just seatback low block waiting for Barcelona players to lose ball possession and counterattack us. Xavi didn't believe in intensity for 90 minutes physicality instead he believed in technical aspects of football yet football has evolved. Under Xavi, Barcelona players will get tired after 60 minutes and many coaches knew that weaknesses. With Hansi, it's a different story. He want intensity, speed and physicality. His team should attack and defend as a unit ,he doesn't rely on individual player brilliance.

Xavi improved the team more than Flick. He took Barça from 9th to second place in a few months, won La Liga and Super cup the next year, and was actually very decent the following year, missing the trophy mainly due to refereeing errors.
Of course, Barça is playing a lot better than it ever did even since Messi left. Let's hope that wasn't just a run of good form. Also, Flick did make one huge mistake with his line-up against Osasuna. He should have placed his best 11 and rested the players a few days later against Young Boys. That could result in Barça being +6pts now.

@@Ezek18-32 every top team is aiming for the top 8 position, not top 24. And if you're a barca fan then you'd know how important ucl games are. We lost against shakhtar and antwerp!!!!
No team in Europe rotates their squad for ucl unless they've qualified for the next round.
Would you rather have 2 losses in 8 games of ucl or 1 loss in 38 games in la liga?

    • @Ezek18-32
      @Ezek18-32 Месяц назад

@@lklivingstone7801 2 losses in 8 games in ucl. But we're talking about 1 loss in ucl vs 1 loss in Liga, so DEFINITELY 1 loss in ucl. Besides, Young Boys at home vs Osasuna away are two completely different beasts.
Out of the last 11 La Liga seasons, 5 titles were decided on margins of 3 points or less.
in UCL, the chances to win are already pretty low (for Barça, around 7.5%). With two losses, it's hard to qualify directly, but there are good chances to get an easy opponent in the extra knock-out if you end up 9th or near that.

I’m sick and tired of Xavi apologists crying whenever someone criticises Xavi as a coach. If Flick was the manager from the begging instead of Xavi, Barca would’ve been far better off, The reality is that Xavi is a bum of a manager and he needs to go back to drawing board and gain experience. People seem to forget that the performances under Xavi were horrendous even during the season we won La Liga , we were wining games with thin margins while we were being outperformed by teams we should have been winning comfortably and everyone was blaming the players but all along Barca’s problem was Xavi and his inexperienced staff and we can clearly see that now with a manager who knows what he’s doing in Flick!

Xavi wasn't even that bad, even in his worst season ridden with dressing room rebellion led by Lewandowski and injuries he still finished 2nd with 85 points..
Xavi passionately wanted his old Barcelona back but the current players simply could not play that style that's why he went to La Masia looking for talent and found the likes of Cubarsi, Yamal, Fort who unfortunately were too young and not ready..
If Xavi had the financial backing like if Barcelona was not in financial mess am confident he would have won something big just look at his first season when had the likes of Jordi Alba, Busquets, Dani Alves, Pique etc, he battered Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid like they were nothing and that's what he could have achieved with top players who understand his system.

Xavi may not be the best manager in the world but at least he still gave us the hope we all needed than what we wanted during our hardest time as Barça fans and that was still was one of the greatest relief we had despite all the humiliations and mockery we got. Barça now being one European teams at its best form was as a result of the foundation Xavi himself laid for his successor.
