Prof. Phakeng is the most vibrant woman ever. Listening to her speak is like listening to an aunt that you know so well telling you about life and hardships and while at it giving you constant encouragement. She is so strong and so so beautiful. UCT and South Africa as a whole is lucky to be alive in the era of the Prof!

Interesting discussion. By now we know how it ended for professor Phakeng at uct. It's a difficult task that needs to be done. Rhodes must fall was a robust approach to tackling racism and colonial attitudes. It will be different for persons working at higher level. I think real challenge is changing mindsets. I think people do not honestly believe black people have any contribution to make. Not to mention that black people can be excellent in anything. Whe they see that the excellence really exists the reaction is vicious like I believe we saw with professor Makgoba at Wits. You see it in backlash black people are experiencing in USA for improving their lives and they get killed just like that. You also see it in the way western powers think that their views are the only ones that matter in managing affairs of the world. This is a big topic. Rhodes must fall may be easier start 😂😂
