Re: realm divide, in this instance it occurred due to the number of provinces the player holds, which fills up the “notoriety” bar regardless of how direct the threat to the shogunate is. The Vassals and allies are a holdover because with good relations they don’t declare war immediately.
Exactly. What you gotta keep in mind, tho, is that the continuous Realm Divide penalty keeps racking up and eventually even the most loyal vassal and ally *will* turn against you. So in this campaign, the player is going to have some real problems in Kyushu if they are not prepared for Satsuma/Shimazu clan's eventual backstab.
@@RockyX123 Could also be that the Ai had a huge battle and lost armies. The realm divide is based on how strong you are in relation to other clans. So sometimes it is bad to have the yellow bar go so close to full.
If you create vassals after Realm Divide though, they don't get the Realm Divide Diplomatic penalty and remain loyal to you. It's unlikely that it's what happened here but it's possible.
Player: Is struggling to win a battle Solution: Throw Legend of Total War at it And the quote from this like "OK dipshits, time to die" and "get rid of these idiots" are amazing.
Realm Divide can be triggered twice, once from getting fame too high, and again from taking Kyoto. You'd do well to make sure both happen at the same time if possible. Also any faction that emerges during realm divide is immune to it. So if you create a vassal or some faction rebels somewhere, they won't have its effects against you. Unless you trigger RD again that is.
I just want to mention for anyone complaining how the lords in WH3 just charge in and die to watch this video again and notice how the AI handles its 3 generals
Yeah this has been a problem for all of the games. wh3 does have some unique bugs and issues but alot of the issues such as line of sight pathfinding etc have been ongoing issues throughout the history of total war especially on the warscape engine
This is only really the case in siege battles and when they only have one general. If the ai has more generals in a field battle, they will usually chase weaker units so you can ambush them with yari cav.
There was a disaster battle a while back where Legend of Totalwar specifically states that he doesn't care about the difficulty level of sent in disaster battles, because he uses them as a teaching tool. Though I do believe he'll ramp the difficulty of the battle if he can.
18 provinces, realm divide must have just started. As for vassals, you can have vassals during realm divide as long as you create them after it begins. It's also possible that the realm divide just started in the last turn and Shimazu hasn't declared war yet.
I've always found defensive archers to be INCREDIBLY strong in Shogun 2, hell even attacking they're incredible and that's before you get samurai archers. I've wiped multiple army stacks(multi turn battles) with archers contributing ~70% of casualties to the enemy. Swordibois obviously are the best overall but yeah, for price/availability archers ftw ESPECIALLY when combined with two full strength cavalry units whose only job is mopping up routing units to destroy overall army morale. I've won ~20-30 legendary difficulty campaigns if that matters.
i dont even play these games but i keep coming back to see these vids. there is something about winning against overwhelming odds always being satisfying whatever the genre.

it's very cool to see proactive tactics to break enemy before it manages to wreck clearly inferior troops that you have at hand. Legend would make an excellent general and reminds me greatly of John Malcolm Thorpe Fleming Churchill - google that dude, he was awesome.
Very cool. I think running down routing forces in Shogun 2 is so satisfying but it was a good idea to just focus on keeping the army alive, there was a lot more of his troops left than I expected.
Right, there are times in other games when you want to sally out (most notably using the ram disabling cheese in Medieval 2...), but in Shogun 2 it's routinely a good idea. The battles around fortifications (it's really an escalade rather than a siege) in S2 tend to be much more dynamic than having an enemy impale themselves upon a prepared strong point.
Sometimes during realm divide at least at lower difficulties the good allies will not attack you until later, at higher the ai just targets you so you probably wont even make it to realm divide having them on your side

Don't give the cav an attack order on that unit like that you will get more if instead you send the cav to intercept them...damnit spread that line so more guys will attack the routing enemy instead of having so many guys in multiple units stacked so tight.
