BMW Should Be Ashamed For Charging So Much For PLASTIC! - 335i Engine Bay Transformation
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 28 июл 2024
- I love BMW but there are somethings that I can't grasp my mind around, like the price for replacement plastic pieces! In today's video I attempted to transform the cluttered and lack luster engine bay of my 700HP BMW 335i to something I wouldn't be embarrassed to show off at car meets. I purchased 3 parts that should do the trick even though it was hard to spend the outrageous money on. Are the upgrades worth it? Well, you be the judge.

The spongebob “plastic” reference at 4:04 had me rolling. If I wasn’t already subbed that woulda done it for me lol. Good content man, keep it coming!!
I’d say you should add some carbon mods to the interior
Yh 💯
Nah alcantera. Looks cleaner. Carbon for the bay and exterior
@@jessejames00666 i like this idea!
@@jessejames00666 I agree
@@VehicleVirals i have the alcantara trim in my e92 335 and its super nice. Just gotta wipe it all the same direction with your hands rq for pics lol. I keep thinking about going forged carbon trim but i like the alcantara too much cuz no gloss. Maybe ill get smaller carbon stuff but itll be for little stuff
100% agree extortionate prices some of these dealerships are charging for next to nothing
I left my ac/ heater filter off for the same reason.. thanks to Chris I have options to reinstall the filter and still get to the back of the engine 🍻.. always coming through with useful info.. I also appreciate you spending your money before we do and giving product reviews so the rest of us know what we getting into 🍻👌..
These mods are great and informative. The problem is that not too many people hv the mechanical resources and help you hv. Your guy (Ali), gives you exclusive time and service. I like to watch though. Good video. Shalom.
You’re channel is awesome! I just bought my beautiful 2008 335i yesterday! She’s all stock right now but she is amazing!
“At no surprise bmw does specialize in plastic “. 😂😂😂😂. So true! Keep bringing it - thanks for sharing 👊🏽
Really clean man!
Since I didn’t see anyone else comment on it, ur fingers are seriously broke man haha. Keep up the good work.
Should've done the DIY cowel, so cheap and easy to do. I made mine look really good smooth out any rugged cuts and cover it with nice weather stripping. Looks great, protects my dme, and saves me so much money
You're my favorite youtuber, keep up the great work 👌 you're videos inspire me to make my e90 just as clean as yours
Yessir so dope seeing someone elses build with a e90😎
Wishing you all the best!
Thanks for showing the cowl assembly install and giving the price tag for it. I was considering to get it, since I have clearance issues with the stock cowl and the M3 brace I snagged for 200~ $, but seems both too much hassle and too expensive for absolutely no performance gain (and I would still have to remove the cowl, because the M57 has the vanity cover in two pieces, where the back piece is so far bach into the firewall, that you need to remove the strut brace center cover before I can take off the intake manifold to do any work on that side of the engine lmao).
For anyone who plans to use the stock cowl with the M3 brace, Im taking a heatgun to heat up the original OEM strut brace and use it as a tool to mold the OEM cowl into shape, making that 5mm's worth of clearance necessary for the nuts and bolts of the M3 brace, in order to install the cowl without resorting to barbarism.
4:04 had me rolling bro lmaooo. BMW plastic is literally legal robbery. It’s so damn expensive for no reason 😭
Its expensive for the brand luxury..
Agree, 2400eur for the intercooler tubes on my 5 series
But! I really love that it opens a marked for cheap alu and billet parts from performance brands
Can get billet and alu parts instead of the tubes for a 1/6 of the price
I agree with that plastic
That looks 100% better than the rat nest that it was before. Too many people mod and mod and mod and don't even bother washing the engine bay let alone neatening it up like this. Well done.
It looks much better Christian! An idea you can run with is fashioning an elbow to carry the cold air further around the front of the engine cover to the turbo. One that slides into the opening and dumps directly at the air filter for efficient air movement. Worth the money? User preference. But it looks clean! Best wishes brother!
👊🏽
When I relocated my OEM coolant tank. I put the sensor back in and left it pointing towards the inside of the engine bay and held it in place with RTV sealant. Haven't had an issue with it yet🤷🏾♂️
I wish they showed love to the N55 like they did the 54. Or just the 1 series in general. This looks really awesome! Makes me wanna get one tbh
Hey Chris. Car looks good
That closed intake duct will work great, if it was open (like the other one shown) it would do nothing, air will not go left if it can go straight over the edge of that open one, always least resistance.
Love the build! Can you make a vid abt how much u spent on the car so far?
Christian, great work. Much improved aesthetics. I am in the same boat with an 09 E90/N54 project car too. Damn plastics are some serious money!! 😭 (AHEM!!) I should find someone that can 3d scan and then make some CF parts that may or may not look like the M3 cowls. You know anyone? ;) The CF would probably cost less and be more available. Just a thought.
After totalling my Black '06 330i it seems that 06-09 E90s are becoming rare...great timing on my part...on top of the fact used car prices have sky rocketed.. all the suspension pieces etc were replaced and I got the car for 3500 last year...now a similar model sells for 6-7000$!! #Fml I got a 08 Accord V6 now and am feeling like a grandma. I need a BMW to revive my soul! I'm currently the Midwest and it's hard to find a car without rust.. Can't wait to own the Ultimate driving machine again..
Nice ! I read that the cowl kit also should fit the E8X chassis. Can you confirm this (maybe Ali knows) ? I would like to get one for my E81. TIA !
A very well done and tasteful build. Nice job! I'm curious about RPM spool, you were gonna do some street tuning to improve it, has that been done and how did it end up? Does it feel laggy in town?
Turbo spools much earlier now. Around 3000-3200 RPM. I I could bump up the gain to make it spoil slightly sooner but I like it where it's at now.
May I ask whether you considered moving those canisters to the trunk? A lot neater and you will have plenty of space in the engine bay
Hey Christian! I was just on Bimmerworld and saw that they sell an entire E9X Dashboard made completely of Carbon Fiber. I'd love to see a video on that if possible.
Clean clean clean dope dope. 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Motivation. Knowledge facts. My brother you are the goat. Inspiration. Patience for now until I get a n54 335. Problem what. Huh. Who said. It’s just plastics. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
I like the m3 air vent and plastic protector in the engine bay looks good
You’ve gotta admit though, bmw makes some real nice plastic lol. I would’ve done the same thing, 335d snorkel too. I change my windshield “cowl” panel every couple years, if it starts to look bad. The last one I (plastic) ceramic coated.. 🔥
You gotta get a 328 I f30 n20 I think you’d do great bro you’re smart af!!!
Sick broo🔥🔥🔥
Totally agree with you bro 💯
Same :)
"If you know....you know" 🔥 👍
That guys voice is truely beautiful, sounds like he’s talking in slow motion.
nice vid bro
That a single turbo what year is that motor will it fit 2010 xdrive
Could u get aluminum & steel parts for most plastic parts?
The best upgrade under the hood of my car was the CSF performance radiator.
Looks really clean 👌 but $700 for Plastic trim and some filters 😣
Love that car bro.
I think the 335d expansion tank is a little shorter and I’ve seen people run those to clear the hood
Love this build because it’s affordable and super nice
Lmfao
Bro flashed us at 7:51 hahah
I swear y'all have eyes for everything 😂
How did you put both filters in on the right side ? No way u were able to cause of the obstructions
Where’s the power steering pump? Under the new expansion tank or next to it
Where does the AUC sensor go on the cowl?
It's a shame that people pay so much money for a high end car like bmw and then bmw put plastic parts on the car that would brake and tear and they cost so much money to replace. This doesn't make sense at atll bmw should be ashmed of themselves and really figure that out and not put plastic cheap things in the engine bay
To be fair BMW may have started this trend, but almost all car makers have followed suit now.
@@VehicleVirals yh very true couldn't agree more
Why not a 335d coolant tank?
what is that seal at the base of the windshield cowl, can anyone help please. having a nightmare finding it.
Hey I keep getting a misfire on cylinder 2 and 3 but I've changed the spark plugs coil packs and injectors twice but it still misfires any idea what it could be?
Maybe valve cover gasket ot injectors im no mechanic though.
i wish someone would make a carbon fiber m3 style cowl with cutouts for strut bar mounted catch cans
Your blow off valve is hitting the hood, i have the same marks lol🙃
Did that doc race manifold come with ur kit?
No
Does anyone have any idea how much of a parts cost goes to development and how much goes to materials? As a ratio. Rough estimate, maybe a range based on basic variables? Seems a tad relevant idk 🤷
Just replaced my expansion tank. Had a leak around the entire seam. Was a pain to do because the bottom hose.
Yeah man, not a fun thing to do.
id do anything to be this guys son
Good video
Yess
Hey bro saw an old video of yours of your black e93 u posted about a year ago i wanted to see if u can put link for the headlights u have. I really like the super bright angel eyes.
Search up Bayoptiks. And tell them Vehicle Virals E93 headlights.
@@VehicleVirals thanks for reply brotha i didnt think u were gonna reply! Just subscribed for that. Thanks
Quality 👌🏼🔥
Honestly just for ease of maintenance I might have to just pull the trigger on the cowl lol.
you should get the manifold and engine cover colored
Agreed!!!
Yoo Bro you got in AdamLZ´s old shop?
Could you do some headlights from BayOptiks? I bet they would look sick on your car 🔥
Working on it!
Shhhheeeeeesh the bend on the fingers
Itès super clean and beautiful......and now change you HPFP. LOL.
watching the finger bend made my hand hurt😭
What’s up with the E30?
E30 video next week.
If I were to do a n54 this is exactly how it would be done.
What year is this 335?
2009
Never been so early before.
Yes on the expansion tank mod, $700 for PLASTIC, hell no
Bro whats up with the deep voice randomly lol
Idk, puberty maybe?
@@VehicleVirals i realized its the camera man but it came in at first like a voice modulator or something lol. Hella tripped me out
I was going to the same to my e92 until I saw how expensive it was lmao. I'll keep searching for a wrecked m3 to steal them off of !
People snatch them up quick! And even if you find them, it's a 50/50 on the condition of them.
@@VehicleVirals yes they do! It's crazy how such a simple mod is so sought after haha. Love the videos man, I live in Orlando as well I hope to see you crusing one day!
@@VehicleVirals so you're saying it is a gamble buying a used N54?
@@nelsonx4235 pretty sure he was talking about the e92 m3 cowel. But yes buying an n54 is 50/50. Bought a stock one with 60k miles. Records said it had its proper work done; but im pretty sure the owner had driven it carelessly and until the oil light pops up, ended up having to replace the engine, got rod knock after owning it for 2 months i had driven it less than 500 miles. But i fixed the car and i love it!
@@xandres9451 if you dont mind, how much this cost to get the 335i back to mint shape?
At least they got way better since 2014+
BMW and plastic goes hand in hand. I get the plastic for beauty covers (not for 700$ tho LOL), but plastic in engine parts that pisses me a lot?
My f30 N55 335i has plastic all around, once my warranty is over in 3 years I am gonna replace all that can be replaced with aftermarket reliable parts.
People rightfully hate the reliability issues with BMW, that being said what people don't understand about BMW's is their inline 6's (N55 onwards) are reliable, it's the other shit around the engine that goes bad gaskets/plastic inlets/charge pipe etc. Replace that with aftermarket you will hardly have issues, apart from big services at high mileage intervals. So my suggestion to anyone who wants to buy a BMW, buy a inline 6 (2014 or later) with decent mileage, service history and low price then put some money in for preventative maintainece, you have yourself a great drivers car.
For everyone else who need reliable vehicle there are lots of reliable brands out there, germans are not one of those unfortunately, until you work on them extensively!
Same thing happened to my hood 😭😭
Yikes.
Dude your fingers wtf 😱🤣
no one has the 3d printer file for these? 👀
Things that are considered "luxury" are expensive for no reason, yet it'll still sell
Should be ashamed for valve cover gasket and PCV aswell.
BimmerN53
imma 3D print these parts and sell them for the low lol
Smart!
You got a customer if you do!
i’d say you should add some alcantara mods to the interior! i did it also to my e91 you can see it on my instagram evil_e91 it looks so much better and feels better!
Classic bmw part prices
So what car are you getting? 😅 M3 F80?
i can tell you dont work on any cars yourself christian the cowl for the e90 takes me 30 seconds to remove lol
nice .................show me water the bottle
Camera man sounds like buffalo bill. IT PUTS THE LOTION ON THE SKIN OR ELSE IT GETS THE HOSE AGAIN!
"It's expensive, but it's worth it to me." Says everyone car guy with money to burn on looks. LoL
Not hating just joking around. I been spending mad money on interior parts just for the aesthetics myself.
Just get a b58 lol
Get colored holes
*hose
I'd just go to a junkyard and take the plastics
Find a part out car get it for like 50 bucks
How the 335i should have been in the first place.
Bro your fingers just do that?
ok go make the part yourself and find out it cost thousands of dollars to make. You have to take into consideration that parts take engineering, manufacturing, shipping, etc to make, and then find storage for all these parts that might sit for decades.
And they need to meet weight and recycling restrictions.
700$ seems cheap for that now lol
Dude I have an e60. EVERTHING IS PLASTIX OR A DIRIVITIVE, even MOST of all of bmw 's exstensive proprietary, bespoke. components, that always break and need to be replaced .. its the genius of BMW, highly engineeree, cheaply made ... to break... expensive to replace... BMW is RICH .... LOL
Lol at everyone buying the M3 cowl
You should have opened up with request for the plastic tray and the snorkel ... could have donated from dubai for free and you just handle the shipping charges... 700 is a total RIP OFF Bro
Yes, mr demon voice camera dude, we know which tabs he talkin about... duh
