    “We’re sorry if we’re not the best example”: you ARE the best example! Most people who have had long-term and substantial weight struggles share in the ups-and-downs of seeking better health can relate to your journey. You both are wonderful examples: of COURAGE, to share your pain as well as your triumphs; and of DEDICATION: no matter how many times we fall, to always get back up again. You keep it real and relatable - you are fine “examples,” and thank you for your courage and dedication. 💕

    No blasting here, but I do have advice (something I'm just learning myself). Don't eat WFPB for weight loss, eat it for your health. It's a different type of motivation. Do it for your health and the weight will fall in place naturally.

      Don't even do it for that. Eat vegan for the animals and the planet, but keep your health in the back of your head as a reminded. But it's incredibly hard to expect people to find motivation from themselves especially when it comes to a lifestyle rooted in destroying the lives of others and the planet.

    I've lost and gained it back several times in my adult life, here I am again at 55... starting over again. BUT... I am also 100% committed and since I started WFPB on Valentines Day I have lost about 50 lbs and am much healthier. I still have LOTS to lose too, a long way to go. But one day at a time, right? Thanks for just being authentic. Grief is real and hard, I lost my best friend of 25 yrs last August and my baby dog (almost 14 yrs old) in January, and then lost my other best friend in February. I still cry alot, but it does get better over time.

    I gained and lost hundreds of pounds as a WFPB vegan of 8 years. It was exhausting and I never felt great. I'm now Keto and the healthiest and happiest I've ever been. Maintaining weight loss is EFFORTLESS and I never feel deprived or hungry. No brain fog, no depression, no anxiety that I have dealt with my entire life!
    Also, I'm very sorry for your loss! She sounds like she was a truly great lady!

    Welcome back! Did the same! Lost 73 pounds after watching you guys. Gained 41 back. Now I've dropped 16 of those...It's a struggle. We went from really strict to more relaxed and got too much oil back in our diet and got hooked on the old flavors. Just get back in the saddle...

    • @marigoldenergy8512
      @marigoldenergy8512 3 года назад

    • @johnjohnson2540
      @johnjohnson2540 3 года назад

      @@marigoldenergy8512 Actually, my problem was slipping from WFPB to vegan/vegetarian. If I had avoided oils, I would have been a lot better off, but they'll get ya. And the sad thing is, eating is just a habit. Get in the habit of eating WFPB and you will like it and your body will like it. Stray to "whole flavor" with oil and salt and sugar and you will become habituated to it. I just don't seem to do moderation very well.

    "Fall down seven times, get up 8." I'm not even on the wfpb adventure, but I am so glad to see you back. The internet doesn't need another fake, contrived, unrealistic spectacle. You guys are teaching the world how to succeed, which is not to choose a path and white knuckle it. Just like in meditation, you need to expect your mind to wander, because that's human, and then bring it back. Punishing yourself for human nature is a recipe for failure. Thank you for your compassionate example of how to be your own best friend and steer yourself back to the path that makes you feel your best.

    The value of this is showing that even when you are dedicated, the weight can still come back, and it's not a "mistake" it's just what the body does, fighting against your efforts, to get back to its set point. I think you are VERY strong, and it's ok if your weight fluctuates, that means you have a human body and that's what bodies do. It's not bad, it only SEEMS bad if you subscribe to the social construct. You're still healthy even with the weight! And you're still good! And you still have value. I think this is VERY valuable

I don't naturally love this food having been a foodie most of my life. I no longer get food cravings which is a real positive however I now eat to live rather than live to eat. Thats sounds depressing but really it has been liberating. My husband is a meat and dairy eater so preparation and sauces is definitely the key. Best of luck with the ups and downs that life throws us. I cant wait to see your new recipes Brian.

    Yeah! 2 years! I started my WFPB Journey 2 years ago and you guys were with me at the beginning. Thanks for all you've done to help me along the way. I, too, have gone up and down in weight, but as times passes it gets easier to stick to the path. You're right Jessica, don't give up, just re-commit. I lost my Dad 11 years ago and my Mom 6 years ago - I still cry. Grief is a process, feel what you feel, for me crying helps. Welcome back!

    Watching you two shows me that I don't have to hang my head and disappear when I don't live up to my own expectations and feeling like a failure. You understand and do not judge others....I'm certainly not judging. I know how hard food addiction and struggles for a lifetime looks like. Your smoky hummus and black bean soup are two things that helped me start this wfpb journey. I've lost no weight but I'm not focusing on that this time. I'm working on the transition to the lifestyle. Welcome back. Love your honest transparency.

    Guys, I had VSG because I struggled with gaining and losing weight on a WFPB diet. And one year out from surgery I am STILL struggling with the pleasure trap and gaining weight if I am stressed out and don't focus on healthy habits. It's normal. We are all struggling!

    So glad you're back. That is why you're my favorite plant based channel. You are real and honest and struggle like everyone else. I am sorry about the loss of your grandma but what a long life she had and was independent till the end. It sounds like she had a loving family as well, that's a great life!

    Someone once told me, 'there are times in life where you just need to smudge the temple for awhile' (like veering off into the headlights, etc) And as a return-smoker, I am so well acquainted with that! But you are correct - guilt and justifications get us nowhere. Just keep your goal in sight and take another step forward, and before you know it, you're back on the path 😀 .
    So brave!

    We are in this together - lumps and bumps. I’ve fallen away from being fully compliant (not meat or anything) but it’s time to get going again - for all of us. Let’s do this thing!!! I lost a mother to suicide and it still smacks me down - years later. Hang in there. Concentrate on all the joy she brought to your lives!

    I kept a voicemail from my mother for a couple of years after she passed. I listened to it often. I somehow deleted it or it auto deleted or something. I fell apart when that happened. I'm almost 64 and still miss my mother so bad. That is something that is hard to get over. Give yourself all the time you need to grieve and never apologize for grieving.

    Good to see you. I began eating WFPB a year ago after two mini strokes and finding out that I “ came out higher than anyone the lab person has ever seen” for Celiac’s ( at 56 ).
    Even though I had never had high cholesterol, I was put on a statin, which destroyed my muscles, sent me into major depression since it was painful to even walk. That and menopause packed on the pounds while my face was covered in eczema for months.
    I have always been an emotional eater.
    So, you two are human too?
    Glad you took a break. It’s important to make your mental health a priority as well.
    I understand loss. It’s rough.
    So glad that you have each other. You have both been a fun and encouraging part of my days.
    Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a LOT. Just breathe and take it one day at a time.
    Life is constant change. I know that you two will make the most of it.

    Anyone who does not stray from a perfect path isn't human. It's okay to mess up. I'm definitely not perfect and can improve in SO many ways in my life. Trying is the most important thing we can do. Grief is hard. Crying is totally acceptable! Don't apologize for grief. I love y'all and can't wait to hear from you more.

    I am super glad to see you back no matter where your weight is. My wife and 7 year old daughter love watching your life. I as well got to my lowest weight and put 45 pounds back on since December. I am back on the right track and losing weight and gaining health. So its not just you guys. I too believe in the power of a WFPB lifestyle and will till the day I die. Thank you for coming back and being honest. Its inspirational. We don’t know you but we love you!
