How do you gauge how much to eat? You’ve mentioned other recipes as not conducive to weight loss (like when recipe testing), but have also said the good thing about WFPB is that you don’t need to count calories or restrict amounts. Hummus is calorie-dense so you must limit the amount, for example. Thank you for this video, for always being your honest selves, and for sharing all these delicious recipes!
Brian, I totally understand. The feeling of feeling good. When I stick to my plant based eating, I feel so good. I don’t crave food anymore. I crave the feeling of eating food that is good for my body. Love you Jessica! You guys are too cute.
Thank you guys for being so open and honest. I don't even need to lose more than 5 lbs. but I love your videos! Right now, during this pandemic, so many people are experiencing similar feelings. I think it's so important to be able to talk about it honestly. When you're able to do that it allows others to be more open with their feelings!
Soooo grateful for you two! You put yourselves out there, achievements & defeats.....you two represent so many of us and 'back to basics' is just what I needed right now. Thank you!
Loved this! I made the chili last night. Funny story my husband has told me since we met (over 10 years ago) that he’s allergic to beans, but last year his mom called him out at dinner saying he’s not. Turns out he just doesn’t like them. He absolutely loves your chili! He tells everyone about how awesome your chili is too. Thank you so much for sharing your recipes!
This video came at the perfect time for me. I fell off HARD just prior to lockdown and I am trying to climb back up now. It's a great reminder of all the dishes I have enjoyed in the past. Thank you both for all your hard work. ❤
You've inspired me to try again. I've been mostly vegetarian for decades but was lured into years of off-and-on Keto/Paleo, and always gained the weight back. I just couldn't get into cooking since my husband died. I'm 67, and the older you get, the harder it is to lose weight. But, I'm making progress. I went off the wagon over Thanksgiving, but weighed myself this morning, and am thrilled that I hadn't gained any weight! Christmas time may be another story, but I'll keep at it. Thanks for being real about the ups and downs.
I loved this video and just want to say how much I loved the chili! I made it for some friends and we all loved it. Even my friend who claimed not to be a chili fan... I was suspicious of the Cinnamon in a chili, but it wasn’t overpowering and added a lot of flavor. I’ll be using this again. Also, with the salad, I never thought of using hummus for salad dressing... way good. Thanks so much for making these delicious recipes and sharing them.
Quite honestly, I think five different dishes in a week is pretty good for people with jobs, families and busy lives who are not professional chefs, and as long as you’re eating plants, it doesn’t matter too much which ones. People living in areas of the world with large numbers of centenarians usually have diets that consist principally of fresh and locally grown produce but are not necessarily particularly varied. Herbs and spices are what turn potentially bland mush into a party in your mouth, as opposed to the oil, salt and sugar we can get so hooked on.
Thank you for being real. This year has not been a great one for my eating habits. I have actually begun craving veggies and salad the past couple of days. I appreciate that you let us see your imperfections. It really is encouraging. I agree. Start today. I have oatmeal in the house for breakfast. Then I'll shop for more healthy food after checking out some of your recipes to know what ingredients I need. Thanks again. Merry Christmas!
Thank you this is motivation 😻, After losing over 50kg /100lbs in 5 months I realized When it comes to weight-loss so many people want quick results so they easily give up. When you gained all that weight, it didn't happen over night . its the same when losing your weight. Never give up. Stick to your goal and Be Patient with yourself 🔥🔥🔥
So happy for you guys! All of this stress has caused me to crave comfort foods when I was previously eating many more veggies. Need to get back on track and you guys are an inspiration!
Oh God bless you both. I am so grateful to you both. I need this so much. I have been so stuck and gaining weight again.i have been so derailed. Love you guys. Also your honesty is such a comfort.
i haven't cooked in like 2 weeks because i am shooting and editing daily now and watching this gave me the motivation to cook all the vegies that can still be used from my fridge and get back on track.
I totally agree with you guys about starting now and not waiting till jan 1. This gives me the ability to get revved up and fine tuned and a head start on my plan of attack so when new years rolls around I already have momentum. Its really key for me in the long winter.
Thanks for sharing, as always, and your honesty. We all have these periodic struggles and need to reset. As in ME! My GF isn’t WFPB no-oil but I do all the cooking so she cheerfully eats what I give her. EVERYTIME I try out one of Brian’s recipes she raves about how much she likes it. So, we’ll be jumping on to the sensible lunch and big salad for dinner train again. :)
I was so excited when I saw this video! I'm going to try all your recipes. I knew salad was your No. 1 because I went over to the Blogpost at the beginning of the video when Jessica mentioned how hard she worked on it. It is AMAZING!! I will visit more often. For real! ♥
So glad you are both back on track and looking so inspired and inspiring. Everyone can have a blip; the key is to keep focused and move forward towards your goal. Every best wish!
Thank you for your tried and true recipes plus the time posting them on your site, but mostly for your genuine selves. You are encouraging. Heading to check out the recipes now!
Can you talk about some of the challenges that have kept you from losing weight. Like more than refined carbs or added fat in food. I know I binge hard. Like I can house 2,000+ calories to my face during a late night snack. Your Potato diet videos from 2 years ago have help me a lot to deal with that. It would be nice to hear what some of your struggles have been.
May I share what some of my obstacles are? I fall prey to the vegan processed food marketing. I fall down the hole of processed faux cheeze and faux meatz. Then I binge on sweet vegan baked items.... it gets real bad and I wake up feeling like mud.
Your Chili is one of my top five recipes for weight loss too! We make it at least every other week 😊. To be honest we weren’t really fans of the cinnamon and nutmeg on day one. But when the flavours melded overnight it was a game changer. Love it !
I'm going to try all of the soups and chilis - thanks for making and documenting these recipes. I already use Brian's smoky all-purpose salad dressing every day on my salad.
Made the the chili today. It is delicious. Only made half of the recipe , it should be enough to last through the weekend for my husband and me. Thanks for sharing your recipes and your weight loss journey. Keep up the good work.
I checked out Jessica’s blog post and have just made the Smokey Hummus it’s very nice I served mine with some Teriyaki sauce over the top which was quite syrupy and thick . It tasted delicious 😋
Love those power bowl salads! It's like a vegetable sushi bowl. Actually I like pretty much all your recipes. Thanks to Jessica, I now enjoy mustard on my salad. Would have never thought that would be good. I also like Brian's sweet and smoky corn on my salad.
You guys, I can’t tell you how grateful I am for your past video with the Whole Foods garlicky lake salad recipe!! I have made it as often as possible ever since!!! It’s kale season again in Germany and I’m back on the sauce 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Oh, I loved this video! My favorite recipes are the chocolate banana “nice” cream and the Smokey hummus. My husband and I really do enjoy the hummus - thanks 😊
I was eating a salad as I watched this video. 😋❤ Thank you for all you do. You two are so fun to watch and inspire me to cook . Your hummus recipe is 👍 and I love it on a baked sweet potato with some arugula. Thanks for making the pandemic so much easier to go through. Stay safe. Hugs from Vancouver, Canada 🇨🇦 🤗
I’m digging myself out my hole of funk as well so you are inspiring me as well. And Jessica, I’m with you with sweets... I love my nice cream too and when I have that after dinner I find that really helps me too. Thank you both for sharing with us.
I hate salad. Anytime I start a diet that requires me to eat salad I stick to it about 2 days (maybe 3). However, I love soup! One cookbook gave a definition of soup: a cooked salad. (c: I have soup every day, sometimes twice a day. One of them is very brothy (as opposed to creamy), and I always put a big handful of spinach in the bowl before adding the soup. So far, it's working for me.
I agree. WFPB recipes aren’t always great. A lot of them fail. BUTTTTT there are many things we all create in our kitchens that become instant classics. To each their own. Try new things a lot of things are amazing and you would never know.
Thanks so much for your commitments to us your viewers. I just want to let you know that I can see the pounds melting off Jessica on Instagram. It gives me hope and inspiration for myself. Yay to getting healthy again. Thank you guys.
I love making a sandwich with your hummus recipe, I add sliced tomatoes, lettuce, thin sliced sweet onion, and a large heaping spoonful of hummus. So yummy, thx again Brian for this recipe :)

I’m restarting this plan also. Thank you for the inspiration. I found I had a couple of big bowls of Weird Orange soup in the freezer. It tastes wonderful and my husband loves it. It was so quick to prepare. I will definitely be batch cooking the soups and freezing them. I also like to make the chocolate banana nice cream into popsicles.

You don’t know how much it’s helping me to see you folks on track and excited about it.
