As a performer I’ve dealt with people like this and I could see he was losing his temper and almost lost control of the situation. He genuinely thought the guy was going to attack him at one point. He dealt with it really well considering the circumstances. He was clearly tired and flustered. It could’ve gone either way but he pulled it together really well.
I saw Richard's gig in Cardiff a couple of months ago and thought he was brilliant. It was a great evening and the audience loved you. You handled the heckler in this clip so well. Well done, Richard.
I've never seen Richard Herring live before but after seeing this clip I'll have to look out for his next gig in Glasgow. This is by far my favourite heckler put down on RUclips. Absolutely hilarious and a masterclass in dealing with a heckler. Great job Richard.
He channelled it perfectly, conjuring a little put down, with a massive crowd response every time. That heckler may have made him mad inside, but Richard Herring turned it all on the heckler. Who obviously had mental health issues. well done Richard, love you mate!
Don't think there's a better video of someone dealing with a heckler on RUclips, I hate the way the American comics do it. Swearing repeatedly is not witty or clever, and any idiot can do it, plus the bollocks thing is just a class above.
yeah, there's people in this world who have no talent of their own, so all they can do is try to destroy it in others. great to see herring take him out.
I was on a bus going into Leeds, and there was some twat who had parked his car on the bus stop. The driver shouted out to all who were on the bus; 'Good God if there was a bus stop on the moon, some bastard would park there!'
Richard is one of these people who in my view needs someone to feed off of. He needed this heckler in many ways and he dealt with him absolutely superbly.
Some hecklers are too drunk to actually deal with. When a comedian goes for the low-blow insult, usually the heckler knows to give up. It not being banter anymore and all, but not that guy. Someone should have thought about asking himto leave sooner. Hell, Ross Noble had a fight break out in the crowd at a gig last year (well, it was Edinburgh).
@Daskeladden1 This is definitely NOT a set-up. I've seen him live twice; he is stunningly quick at tackling audience members who shout out! Richard's been doing the comedy circuit for over 20 years, and is very intelligent (Oxford graduate!); it's not actually that surprising he is this good at dealing with hecklers...
that was class..I remember reading about this on Warming Up...don't know how the hell he does..think I would have an early geart attack if there were drunken idiots abusing me on stage..that Rich has cojones
HA! Thank you for assisting me in response to DaNeYbAby08, who said you'd rip me to pieces. All we need now is Kevin Eldon and Stewart Lee, completely corked up, in a car picking up some sizzling hot hoochie mamas, and you doing some badass tap dancing. We'd have a moderately good parody video there. The long hair is what set me thinking. Are you Ozzy Osbourne's secret lovechild?
Have you seen him upon the TV show "Argumental"? I kept thinking of the Windowlicker video. The trick to heckling is not to swear. He knows who the Aphex Twin is. He'd probably agree with me....
He really didn't go there to enjoy himself, did he? I can well comprehend the stress of your situation driving you mental, that's a common thing these days and very sympathetic. But you don't go and wreck someone else's day because of that, that just makes you a knob.
He could have done with a heckler at Tuffnell's in London on 28th June.. he was on after a wicked Stewart Lee set and did a terribly dull 'schooldays' ramble.
i think he handled it really well.most comedians would have resorted to obcenities but he just made him look like a pranny which is what he was . good job richard !!!!!
As a stand-up myself that was pretty much a heckler put-down masterclass. Real good work Rich. However that heckler (which are quite rare) was adding absolutely f*** all to the gig. Hecklers are commonplace and are good if they shout out a random comment which the comic can play with before silencing - but when they shout out negative comments constantly ruining the mood of the evening then they should be removed a lot sooner by security.
the heckler is Stewart Lee
"Don't joke about Murder on the Orient Express?"
Priceless.
You can tell he gets really angry with the drunken bloke but he turns it into something really funny. That's talent.
"Don't get so pissed you can't think" - classic

No he didn't, he demonstrated pure hatred, he seriously wanted the guy to kill himself. I think maybe both of them are possessed by demons.
I love Rich's face at 5:50 "You don't joke about Murder on the Orient Express?"
This is Mahhhh favourite heckler clip!
"Bring your own amplification system" LOL!!!
He dealt with it surprisingly well considering he’s said he had a really tough week of gigs that week, you can tell he took it kinda personally

"don't joke about murder on the Orient Express?" hahahah
I honestly expected that heckler to be 20 years older than he was.
full marks to the fast-acting security staff.
One joke? He wants the moon on a stick!
I've never seen Richard Herring live before but after seeing this clip I'll have to look out for his next gig in Glasgow.

That little gleam in Herring's eye as he takes that guy out is adorable.
"Half my working day has gone. And now its time for my lunch break!" lol.
When hes telling his farmer joke, you can hear his mate going "ohhh noooooo!"
Wow Richard is fantastic!
Herring's face at 4:32...you can tell he is pissed and taking it personally
Yeah notice how red his face got in that moment..he looks like he's fixing to explode 😂😂😂
He channelled it perfectly, conjuring a little put down, with a massive crowd response every time. That heckler may have made him mad inside, but Richard Herring turned it all on the heckler. Who obviously had mental health issues. well done Richard, love you mate!
@@hoppinonabronzeleg9477 Might want to rephrase those last two sentences... though it's only RUclips and no-one other than me cares lol.
I know this comment is old but if you read his book "How Not To Grow Up" you'll understand why he's annoyed.
"bring your own amplification system" oh man, this is the funniest thing I've heard
a combination of a tedious stressful job and alcohol has clearly driven that guy completely insane. gotta pity the fool a bit.
@@Crypticmind242 steady on old boy. We've all acted an idiot while in the sauce, haven't we?
This is just perfect!
Heckling gold standard!
if i get on his bus il shout BOLLOCKS throughout the journey to see how he likes being bothered at work.
*****
ha true enough.
Stuart Lee’s let himself go.
Good for Richard. There's nothing worse than a bad heckler but nothing better than a really good put down. Good for Richard.
Richard's expression at exactly 3:31 is priceless, the look of astonishment when the heckler actually tries to tell a joke!
This is a masterclass from the Herring :D
.........and then i got off the bus.....
Man, he's good at dealing with shits.
You should see 'im after a curry.
Go Richard!
Gotta love the Herring
What a champion
brilliant
Somebody has had a little too much to drink.
this guy handled it SO well
"...it's time...it's time for you to go" 😂
ha ha this so amazing
bless richard
This is ma favourite video ;o)
This guys immense.....only just come across him today hahahaha
I'm a bus driver! Best heckle ever.
I love this one. He took him out like he was nothing.
Chucklehead is an awesome word and made my day. :)
I love Richard Herring, he's under appreciated. He represents comedies dark under-belly, him, Frankie Boyle and a handful of others.
one of my favorite heckler vids on youtube. actually he was pretty lucky to have the guy there because he was kind of dying up there.
Is this heckler literally Gareth from The Office
You tell him Richard!!
not really he handled the heckler superbly.
handled like a pro.
He turned the heckler's insults and trolling into comedy and got some good laughs...he made it work in his favour.
Not when he was telling the guy to kill himself, and he meant it. Even the audience gasped and booed. Demon in Herring for sure.
calling bernard manning a gentleman is a bit like calling harold shipman a GP.
Nobody should ever joke about anything.
BOLLOCKS
if anyone was wondering the joke is - i wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire.........ah, but what if i wasn't on fire?
Oops thats right! Thanks. I dont get much sleep. I am often somewhere else, usually in la la land!
I'M A BUS DRIVER!
3:33 freggin GENIUS!
Don't think there's a better video of someone dealing with a heckler on RUclips, I hate the way the American comics do it. Swearing repeatedly is not witty or clever, and any idiot can do it, plus the bollocks thing is just a class above.

Nice mirror ball at 6:10, but where's the high-backed armchair and semi-circular toilet mat?
He's probably the sort of bus driver who sees old people hurrying for the bus and drives off just before they get there.
I was on a bus going into Leeds, and there was some twat who had parked his car on the bus stop. The driver shouted out to all who were on the bus; 'Good God if there was a bus stop on the moon, some bastard would park there!'
@rorrt Cheers Logan.
"I know you've been doing it for twenty years but ... give up" - man that made me laugh. Hecklers are such fuckwits.
Richard is one of these people who in my view needs someone to feed off of. He needed this heckler in many ways and he dealt with him absolutely superbly.
i think he was part of the act but thats just a stab in the dark
Saw Richard Herring last night in Warrington and he was awesome.
The heckler at this gig was a bit of a nob.
Its a little more subtle than "slamming", which I prefer, Richard made the heckler make himself stupid!
It's not really a mean word, that's why I like it.
I think the bad thing is how long before they decided to kick him out.
Some hecklers are too drunk to actually deal with. When a comedian goes for the low-blow insult, usually the heckler knows to give up. It not being banter anymore and all, but not that guy. Old clip I know but comedian an absolute legend

Hopefully get a pity fuck...
I mean, is there any other kind mate?....
HAHAHAHAHA FUCKING LEGEND
hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

oh shiiiiiit ur from the HUD damn ! i know pure ppl from there
that was class..I remember reading about this on Warming Up...don't know how the hell he does..think I would have an early geart attack if there were drunken idiots abusing me on stage..that Rich has cojones
it says soho revue bar in the background...
Typical bus driver. Most of the ones I have met could give lessons in being narky to daleks.
Some people saying he got too mad. I disagree. Yes, he was mad, but he channeled it well. He has a right to be mad but he turned it around.
To be fair the bollocks shout by the heckler was well timed..
Jesus thas a rough crowd ...
HA! Thank you for assisting me in response to DaNeYbAby08, who said you'd rip me to pieces.

Wonder what became of the bus driver?
@Benlamb1988 is that the guy from THIS IS SPARTA!!! ?, cause he looks like that guy :)
he was so.. so skinny... look him up now its crazy
Have you seen him upon the TV show "Argumental"? I kept thinking of the Windowlicker video.

people are gettin stabbed left right and center!
priceless
You win Mr HairNutz it is impossible to argue with someone who is too stupid to know when they've lost.
was that the BFG in the crowd?
He could have done with a heckler at Tuffnell's in London on 28th June.. he was on after a wicked Stewart Lee set and did a terribly dull 'schooldays' ramble.

Arguably so...but I would say that we have a far greater amount of great legends than you.
Why did they even let him go that far?
That's a really horrible thing to happen to a comedian. I thought RH handled it as best he could. He's gorgeous too...
