      Not sure the point you are making? We are not gone yet! Since 1903, we have boomed with technology though thousands of years has passed for our society. I like the comforts we have discovered since then. And I know we will live among-st the stars, I just hope to see it. The fact you wrote this message.. do you understand the science that let you do it? Did you simply push a power switch and type what you did without thought of the electrical impulse science behind what you did? But this compose is truly a magical and moving work of art. Makes me tear up every time I hear it, from any part of the world that recreates it. Most people do not know or care what is behind that power switch. Thus only a few understand your statement...good on you for that! Was that your point?

      @@ataphanes5422 So no thought came with it. That was my point, he referenced a line. Very sad but that is how most of our civilization is. I have to probably explain "Most." I am still in awe how a single piece of music, adapted from a science fiction TV show, could be arranged into such a beautiful orchestral piece. This piece was truly written by an extremely talented musician, and the composer arranging this is an absolute genius. What I particularly enjoy about this piece is that fact that it not only retains all that raw emotion of both happiness and sadness, just like in the particular episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, but seems to add an extra element of beauty that is rarely captured by any remake. Definitely a "like" on my list!

    This tune "Inner Light" by Jay Chattaway is a recomposed excerpt from Max Bruch's Scottish Fantasy Op.46.
    Bruch wrote in in 1880, it runs for about 30 minutes, & is based around four Scottish folk tunes. The first tune I think sounds similar to this Chattaway piece - "Through the Wood Laddie". It's the first movement & also at the end of the second and fourth movements.
    This melody line reminds me of other Scottish folk tunes, such as The Skye Boat Song" & other lovely, haunting Scottish airs, like "Lonely Scapa Flow"

    While Star Trek is hardly the most "sciencey" science fiction show out there, it's certainly the most high-minded one. What gave it such enduring powers was not just adventures in space and new gadgets, both of which were done better by later shows, but its dedication to uncompromising humanism, an aspect missed entirely by nearly all Star Trek films. In addition to forcing the writers, most of the time, to come up with unusual conflicts and resolutions, this has also made it one of the few optimistic settings in a generally bleak genre.
    Not really an #UriView, but you know, hashtags are fun.

    • @SouthernAceCrafts
      @SouthernAceCrafts 9 лет назад +1

      +Uri Kurlianchik Which later shows were more "sciencey?" Also, it’s true that the Star Trek franchise has always promoted a humanistic approach in their series, with some episodes all but hostile toward God, nearly all of the Star Trek worlds acknowledged spirituality in some form or another, and respected Christianity to some extent. You see this acknowledgement mostly in the original series but all have done so. A quick Google search provides many examples.Cpt. Kirk, “Man has no need for gods. We find the one quite sufficient." (TOS: Who Mourns for Adonis). The computer M-5 states: "Murder is contrary to the laws of man and God" (TOS: "The Ultimate
      Computer"). Uhura to Spock: "Don't you understand? It's not the sun up in the sky. It's the Son of God." (TOS: "Bread and Circuses"). Bible scripture is quoted (TOS: "The Empath").Data mentions a Hindu Festival of Lights. (TNG:"Data's Day"). There’s Christian church or chapel beside the graveyard, …the attendees say "Amen" (TNG: "Sub Rosa"). Captain Picard celebrates Christmas with his
      family in the Nexus ("Star Trek Generations").
      Cpt. Sisko: says, "There are *things* I believe in." (DS9: "The Ship"). Joseph Sisko recites from the Bible (DS9: "Far Beyond the Stars"). A crewmember wants a priest to perform her wedding ceremony (DS9: "Penumbra").
      The Doctor acts as a Roman Catholic priest (VOY: "Spirit Folk").Dr. Phlox has been to a Tibetan monastery and attended a mass at St. Peter's Square. (ENT: "Cold Front"). Appeared as a priest (ENT: "A Night in Sickbay"). --- So, I have no issue with Christianity and I will always be a Trek fan.

    *The Inner Light* ist einer der schönsten und emotionalsten Songs der kompletten Star Trek Serie. Und ich kann Algorrian und Heiko Schwarzenberg nur zustimmen was das Verhalten aller Menschen betrifft und dass wir es nicht hinkriegen in Frieden miteinander zu leben, weil viele Menschen mit Frieden nicht klar kommen und die Menschen dann negativ beeinflussen. Jedenfalls wurde ich, als ich den Song gehört habe unendlich traurig, da das Orchester den Song so emotional gespielt hat. Es gibt nur wenige Songs, die mich so berühren können, nicht nur bezogen auf Star Trek, sondern auf die gesamte heutige Musik. Und da ich nicht von Thema abschweifen möchte, will das Orchester nur nochmal loben und sage: *LIKE an euch*

    I saw that episode of Star Trek when it was first aired, and it melted my heart when I saw it. And every time I hear that music, it brings back those feelings and memories all over again. Absolutely beautiful! It makes one think that maybe, just maybe, there is some hope for the human species. Thank you!

    It was and still is my favorite TNG episode and the music was a big part of the reason for that.
    To live a whole other life in minutes, like dreaming… The writers should have won an award for that. And I would think what made that special for Sir Patrick was to have his own son portray his son in the episode.
