  • Anyone who has ever used an interchangeable lens camera knows the challenge of "which focal length should I use?" This is something that is a consistent struggle for me as I spot interesting subjects and wonder how best to capture them. While pre-visualizing the photograph can be a huge help in creating a meaningful photograph, how do we translate what we see in our head to what we see on the back of our camera screen? The best way is to understand how lenses and apertures affect the look and perspective of an image. Use this video as a guide to training your eye to see focal lengths and apertures. Next time you're out for some photography, you'll know exactly which lens to grab!

That is so wonderful to hear! I found it super helpful as well when my uncle suggested it years ago, so I thought I'd share it here!

Pretty useful info, Jude. Thanks for sharing. I was out all day today, but that was just to shovel snow. Will be focusing in on these scenarios. Take care now.

Oh yeah, it's a great snow shoveling day, that's for sure. Was out frantically shoveling yesterday before work so I could get to my car. Haha! Thanks, and be safe out there! It's slick!

Haha! My favorite is when you can totally see my giant shadow in that 14mm photo. So hard to shoot with that lens!
