Boots are a great recommendation for anyone that lives with any questionable terrain. One thing I gotta get you on is the shutter release train! Glad you had a great Christmas!

Haha! Shutter releases? That's just another piece of gear to lose or forget to pack! In all honesty, I had one, loved it, forgot to take the batteries out of it, and they leaked acid all over the inside and destroyed it. Just haven't really thought of grabbing one, but you're right. It would make my life so much easier when I'm shooting on a tripod and attempting to time the shot right.

"What to look at, why to look at it and how to see it. And always this distinction between looking and seeing things, between the appearance and the essence of images." Belizidia Amina

Very cool quote! I need to get better at seeing and not just looking.

@@JudeStreicherPhoto I dont know how, I use my phone to practice as notebook to shoot more spontaneous, and from that daily exercise, I get more experience that I use in my more accurate photographs. I try to change my habits. With this freedom, I allow me to fail my photographs and that improves how I see and put some arty eye

    Great little video.
Investing in some good outdoor gear, like boots, jackets, wool sock, is something I myself wish I did way earlier. It makes landscape photography way more enjoyable. And something I personally wishes I done sooner.
Edit: You missed the classic tip of wearing two pair of wool sock. A liner and a sturdier (and sometimes warmer) outer. So you need at least two pair. Something my feets would have liked knowing sooner ;)

Two pairs of socks? I've tried that a couple times and oh yeah, that makes a huge difference! You probably have way more humidity to deal with, too, which just makes it feel even colder! Thanks for the comment, my friend!

@@JudeStreicherPhoto That's probably true, horizontal rain and around freezing.
      Winters sure are fun 😅
I use two sock year round, as it helps against blisters. Moving the point of friction apparently. A game changer when I got that tip :)

Fingerless gloves, or gloves whose fingers have whatever that material is that means you can work a touchscreen with them on! I live in Western NY and cold and snow are a thing here. I also find that desiccant packets are a must; I keep one in every single bag or cube my camera resides in from day to day. For online services, I also like Flickr a great deal, for storage and for display purposes. Great video! I need a small notebook, I am now realizing....

Notebooks are powerful tools! I have dozens of them scatters around the place. It's also just fun reading some of your old ones and remembering all the ambitions and goals you used to have. Oh western NY in the winter would be brutally cold! Yeah, gloves are a must there!

I would add fine rubber boots to the list. Of course depending on the climate you have, but for me they have opened new opportunities for photos as I am less limited by streams, marsh etc. even walking through forest is easier as they give solid layer of protection.

Oh that's a great addition to the list! I've used a pair of muck boots, but never anything like waders! I've seen how Adam Gibbs uses a pair of overall waders to go waist deep in a pond for hid photos! Thanks for the comment!

Some good ideas, Jude. As I print various sized photos at home, photo books with archival pages are pretty worthwhile. Oh! Santa did bring me a rather nice rangefinder film camera. That guy is the best. Have a Happy New Years now and keep up the nice work.

Santa is such a generous giver! What rangefinder did he leave you, if you don't mind me asking? I picked up a Minolta CLE a couple months ago, so I'm curious. Haha!

@@JudeStreicherPhoto Santa is a great guy and apparently gets a lot of his stuff from Ebay. This one is not quite a CLE but a Konica Auto S2. For some reason, I now have two of them, For me, the lens is the major selling point. Have fun now.
