The best part about this figure is since you have to be delicate with it when transforming it, you can just imagine him saying "Watch the paint!" Every time you fiddle with it.

Agree- it would have gone a long way towards capturing his Prime character design more accurately. Too, had they been able to hinge his rear fenders into his hollow calves to streamline the legs a bit, it would have improved the fig, but likely at the cost of knee articulation. I don't think Jazz was the most ideal design to begin with, but as a cost cutting measure, and given the amount of retooling this fig received, it's not terrible.

Now THIS prime character translates well to G1 stylings. Kinda miss the big "popped collar" look tho.

  • @TrueKoalaKnight
    @TrueKoalaKnight 2 года назад +61

Simple, the other characters' designs don't fall far from the G1 aesthetics tree, the Prime characters take inspiration from the movies and have very different designs that really lie far from G1.

This new incarnation of TF: Prime Knockout for Legacy looks great. Sure his robot mode isn't accurate to the Prime show, but he still looks great, from a G1ified stand point. Like how Hasbro remolded SS86 Jazz for Knockout, especially when it comes to his car mode. It looks awesome. Looking forward to getting this Prime Universe Knockout for my legacy collection. Personally, I'm really on board with this G1 restyling of characters. I love the Prime designes, but War For Cybertron really made me fall in love with the G1 esq look. Some of my favourite characters are from Prime, especially Knock out, so being able to set him next to my other favourite characters from the original Show, like smoke screen and Jazz, it's just really cool. I think it's okay to have a more unified look for the transformers if some of us want that. But I'd never advocate that replacing all the unique styles many of the shows have given us.

tbh they should've used the studio series hot rod. cause think about it, knockout in tfp- thin, wheels on back and in the feet, has a saw, drill and staff, and yes he has a car chest but instead of being pushed out its compressed in. studio series hot rod- thin, wheels in shoulder and lower legs, has a saw, matrix and two guns, has a foe chest and flip out glasses. all you'd have to change for studio series hot rod to be knockout would be make him red, redo the chest to make it look like the front of the car but split, redo the leg detail and the sides of the legs to make the wheels in the legs shown a bit more change the head to look like how it should, But keep the shades just make them like dark grey, recolor hot rod's saw, take away his guns and matrix for a drill or the staff legacy knockout has and get rid of the back fin(vehicle mode would have to be drastically different but i don't think it'd be too hard.)

These are being marketed as the characters from the Prime universe but they are very clearly not. This is not only giving the middle finger to Prime fans, but it’s also false advertising. Why are so many people praising this crap? It’s just G1 fans more and more and Prime fans getting nothing, now we still don’t have a proper update to the Prime Knockout design.

What a great looking re-shell! You'd barely even guess it was originally Jazz, except for the unchanged inner shins. It's too bad they couldn't keep his fabulous feather boa-like shoulder design, but for a Decepticon medic with a boxy CHUG look that'll fit with the rest of my shelf I can accept it, and the car mode is if anything a better match for the screen appearance than his original figure. I mean, who wants to rely on Starscream and/or Shockwave for their repairs? Even Soundwave can be iffy, depending on continuity...
Does the backpack/roof click or tab into place in this version? Not a problem for me either way, but I recall the stop-motion reviews guy was annoyed by it on Jazz.

@@brotquel1592 Voyager at the very least. Lockdown, either big deluxe or average sized voyager since he was a tall and menacing bot but not much beef to him.

That staff is the immobilizer. Agreed, I wish it was sleeker. I'll get it if it's on clearance 😜

I'm actually pretty on board with this representation in Legacy. Only ever got the Beast Hunters Deluxe of the character during the Prime run and really kind of hated it. Felt really small and flimsy so even with the G1 inspired look I see this as a massive improvement. Transformation I feel is about as involved as it would ever need to be on a deluxe, and really nice to see the painted detail and color on the rims again. Definitely getting this one for the collection.

I think Hasbro and takara could have done a new moulding for the upper body portion like g2 laser prime. I mean it can be possible. They could have even retooled an upscale ss bumblebee(just doors on the arms.)
    What do u primevsprime?

I honestly wished that Legacy Prime Knockout wasn’t a retool of Studio Series ‘86 Jazz. Knockout would’ve definitely benefited from having a unique mold for robot mode.
That said, the vehicle mode was superb, a definite upgrade from his original Urbana alt mode from the original Prime toyline, as in Legacy, you can definitely see the real life vehicle inspiration that his appearance in Transformers Prime takes from. He’s definitely an Aston Martin, though I am stumped on whether it’s the One-77, the Vantage, the DBS Superleggera or the DB11.

Still looks better overall to me than the original toy release. I don't think it's fair to compare to non-transforming RED designs.

The car mode looks great. The robot mode is just ok. I can't imagine the same personality coming from the big chested brick bot as from the sleek and slim Prime version. He just carries himself differently.

Just got this in hand and he is a solid buy. Especially compared to Wild Rider which is very meh, Knockout is a solid Deluxe figure, transforms well, and will be the definitive version of the character amongst my WFC and SS86 collection.

No, I don't care that she would be core class or maybe even smaller.

Sadly, I'm on the same ship: I hate that, after being promised a Prime KO, we ended up with a G1 KO... but when are we gonna get another KO toy?
Even third parties, aside from APC, are fully centering on G1.
I just want my sassy mad surgeon.
Still hope they made an upgrade kit with an upgraded face. Making KO and not giving him a cocky smirk is a crime.

    Aside from Bulkhead
These Prime figures really aren't doing it for me. Knockout does look better than I previously thought, but I still don't know if I'll pick it up
    Great review, as always!
