I recommend: Necromunda Hired Gun (Review)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 30 май 2021
- Necromunda: Hired Gun is really janky, but it's also really fun. The developers set out to make a fast, mobile shooter with some innovative level design, and they did just that. Yeah, there's plenty of problems with it, but you're still likely going to have a good time with it. I recommend it.

How do you not recommend the last of us 2 but recommend this trash and outriders? Haha
I like your review style and ability to explain games in serious intricacy but I don’t think there’s any consistency at all in your final assessments and your bias toward certain gameplay loops doesn’t make any sense to me
There's a tabletop-fan-theory that GW are deliberately picking mediocre studios to make 40k games because they only want the games to be good enough for you to be interested in the franchise/property, but not good enough that you'd play the video games over the possibility of getting into the tabletop games. GW want you addicted to plastic, not polygons. lol
@@Lenriak pretty interesting take. I only got interested in Warhammer again after a mate bought me TW:WH2 so we could play a campaign together, now I have all of the DLC and been watching the lore videos again.
I can’t paint for shit and won’t be getting into the tabletop though. Just hope they make some more good games soon
“Way too fast aliens”. Okay, so the genestealers have lore-accurate speed, then.
Thats exactly what I was thinking if their stupid fast thats how they are supposed to be.
I kinda want them to be wall running too.
@@yalelingoz6346 With how janky animations are they'd most likely goof out in epic ways while running on walls.
Lore shouldn't trump gameplay considerations though.
yeap, and when you encounter like 4 of them you run like a pussy to the exit because fuck those things.
Which is really lore-accurate too.

@@emulation2369 I've actually noticed this a lot lately about certain reviewers. I'll listen to a few popular reviewers and they'll be like "this game sucks and I had the worst time ever"and I'm just like what? This game's insanely fun. For example that was my experience when it came to deciding whether or not I wanted Far Cry 5. I'm really excited to play this game!
@@thebitterpill9649 Yeah man, I agree with you. I decided to get this game and I think it rules. So many reviews were way too critical. My favorite farcry is farcry 3 , if you haven’t played it I’d recommend it, I enjoyed and paid attention to the story in it more than the next ones.
It says a lot about your skill as a reviewer that I enjoy listening to your reviews even about games and genres that I have no interest in whatsoever. There is always wisdom to be gleaned from your analysis of game design and experience. Thanks for doing what you do - you’re quickly becoming the best in the business IMO!

The level design looks good. I think the developers should be commended for even getting this game out in a decent state considering the pandemic. So as I'm a 40k nerd as well I think I'll pick this up to support their efforts, it's not even a full price game
I just love shooting shit and watching things go boom and battles so this game is a win for me
Genuinely one of my favorite single player fps's ever. It's rough around the edges but gameplay is and will always be king to me.
And a lot of the problems that you mentioned don't occur in the higher difficulties. You do have to react to what kind of enemy you're fighting and you're forced to use your powers wisely to survive. Also I'm confused about why you were ragging on the ability system for using key binds because I think that their ability wheel that's bound to the scroll wheel was incredibly elegant.
I'm praying they drop a sequel.
‘A lot of pig in that iron’ nice metaphor Skill Up!
Explain it. There is an iron called pig iron and it's like unrefined iron but I doubt that's what Shirley is talking about.
I think that’s exactly what he meant. He was referring to the game being unpolished, rough around the edges so to speak. Pig iron is the raw product of mixing iron ore and coke (no not that kind :) in a blast furnace. It results in a kind of iron called pig iron which was named because of the casts which were used which resembled piglets in a row. The iron has a high carbon content amongst other impurities hence the metaphor. It’s usually used as a raw product for the refinement of steel.

@@davecolwell725 I think ACG is slightly better on the review side. He goes more in-depth about the games he reviews and breaks everything down into very manageable pieces. Playing at 4k on the 2080ti and 1440p on the 3080 seems backwards. What's up with that? Of course the 2080's gonna struggle.
I mean, even considering that, he's saying that a 2080 ti is getting only 35 fps at 4k without DLSS, which isn't good considering DOOM Eternal at the highest settings at 4k still runs at like 60-80fps without DLSS and looks far better. So I'd say this is more of the problem of the game itself.
@@santhoshsridhar5887 Yeah, a 2080 Ti should have no problem with this. But then again he said his brother was using DLSS on his 1080, which...can physically be a thing.

"No awards for graphical prowess", "pretty average"... might be technically accurate, but this still seems to be the best looking 40k game ever, right? in the video it looks quite impressive
I think as a reviewer, he spends a bit more time than most of us do examining textures up close. Muddy textures and some stiff character models in the hub area really don't mean much when 99% of the time you're grappling around, blowing shit up and lightning speed. You zip past most of the details. When you're actually playing, the sparks from industrial furnaces, weapon effects, level design zoom right past you and look great. It does look very good, especially for a 35$ game. Punching well above it's weight graphically and in combat.
As Mandy (Mandalore Gaming) showed in his review, Deathwing actually looks better in some places. But Deathwing doesn't run nearly as well. It's also much slower paced, and reportedly not all that great in general. Yet they were both developed by the same team, Streum On Studio. A small French studio that started as a modding team and only released three full blown games so far: E.Y.E., Deathwing and Necromunda.
technically it's not that great. But design-wise it looks fantastic. And who the fuck cares about textures and shaders, the important thing is how immersive and realistic the visuals are, and this game made WH40k universe look like you could touch it.
@@orchid9 Deathwing pulled that off as well, but it's gameplay simply could not hold up. Hopefully (and it looks like it has) Necromunda has enough gameplay improvement to stand up to it.
I agree that it's a dumb criticism. The game is gorgeous, by any standard.
if your brother played the game on a gtx 1080 then he does not have access to dlss. that is a hardware specific feature, and 10 series nvidia cards do not have the required hardware.
Ol' slip of the tongue, 2080 most likely.
My question is wtf he running the game at 4k with a 2080ti, and 1440p with a 3080?

Huh?
Lord Mandy liked it mostly. Thats good enough for me
Hired Gun cutscene dialogue levels basically amounts to that one scene in Shazam where the two characters are having a conversation across a city.
This game seems right up my alley. Long gameplay loop and all the hooks to keep coming back while getting better and fulfilling a power fantasy while gloriously killing baddies. pog
I've played a few hours (on a 1650 super and getting stable FPS with a few heavy stutters in chaotic moments), and I've established it's like if Titanfall 2 and Doom Eternal had a violent love affair and Titanfall 2 forced Doom Eternal to get rid of everything that made Doom Eternal annoying as all hell to get through, then had a love child and got really into Warhammer 40k. Great game.
I'm surprised there was no focus on the animation quality. I think one of things that makes DOOM seem way better than this is the fidelity of all the animations.
Love your reviews. Always look forward to your opinion, keep them coming.
Great writing, as always. Best gaming reviews on RUclips at the moment, I would say.
They made the space hulk fps game, while lacking in good gameplay, had gorgeous visuals and faithful to the source material
Plus Kal Jerico being in it is a well worth plus for a fan
The devs have obviously improved in gameplay loop and kept the nerd fanboism.
As for the "aliens" they're genestealers, and trust me they're supposed to be insanely fast and one shot a space marine in terminator armor (basically the toughest armor in the galaxy)
It's a game about Terminators. It wasn't ever going to be a slick and quick shooter.

What I really want is to see some non-human centric Warhammer and 40k games.
Imagine a fantasy Chaos Warband simulator that played a fair bit like Brutal Legend did, where you start by creating your own champion and then assemble your warband through play. Eventually take your warband into multiplayer matches, maybe?
How about a stealth action game where you play as a Skaven Nightrunner, or more of a straight up action game where you play as a Dark Elf Witch (or Dark Eldar Wych)?
For 40k, imagine the possibilities of something like Inquisitor, but following the Ynnari. The possible character builds and branches, from Eldar Seer to Harlequin to Haemonculus, could be incredibly broad.

Certainly looks a lot better than necromunda: underhive wars, which was a massive disappointment. I still think there's a place for a proper turn-based necromunda game, but the interface in that one was a mess, and releasing with only three playable gangs was pitiful. Used to play necromunda on the tabletop, and the basic loop of creating your gang, learning to use their strengths and account for their weaknesses in the complex combat environments, and upgrading your best fighters to become combat gods was utterly compelling. No need to change any of the rules, just include all the tabletop rules and gangs, and the ability to create your own scenery and scenarios.

Your friend is a liar the GTX1080 doesn't support DLSS.
Oooooohhhh 12:13 Kal Jerico's an npc? Cool.
@ 7:55 How is your brother running DLSS on a 1080? 20 series cards were the first to support the feature.
Game looks very fun
Biomutant also looked fun
@@mroutcast8515 Hires gun is actually fun. Biomutant didn’t look fun in actual gameplay
@@mroutcast8515 just as skilled up said about any of the problems being game breakers for u in this game, the same goes for biomutant where it clearly had some stuff that broke the fun for skilled up, and from what i have seen from him and a handfull of other reviews it did look a little on the plane side, at least at that time hopefully it will be better later down the line
I think I’ll wait for Darktide to jump into 40k games.
If you can get it on a good sale and like diablo-esque games, Inquisitor: Martyr is definitely worth a shot.
Story is fantastic...if you are a Necromunda fan THAT has read the Kal Jericho novels...which themselves are really hard to find.
It was bizarre how incredibly niche of a niche of a niche the story was.
Necromunda is absolutely my favorite tabletop game so I'm pretty excited for this game
